It has a proximity sensor.
Anonymous, 21 Aug 2010I would like to know if the I5800 has got a small LED that shows missed calls and sms?I think no, those holes are for proximity and light sensors.

I tried the i5800 and for it's price, it's a very complete package. I was actually amazed what the phone has to offer.
My personal negs would be the screen (I'm used to HTC Desire/Galaxy S), the plastic casing and the 'cheap' hard buttons.
The camera I don't care much about, I have top notch cameras to take photos. Like in the review, it's good for quick snaps and social networking.
And honestely, what's a Android phone without WiFi?
Some countries don't offer decent data plans ;)
But here is 256 MB RAM vs. 192, 512 MB ROM, multitouch and better optimized sw.
Wait a second LG Optimus GT450 is much much better phone . U can allways put android 2.1 or 2.2 on it exept the display . The galaxy spica is better in every way because u don't need bluetooth 3.0 wait for 4.0 and u don't need a wifi n .

I have the Galaxy Apollo. Great phone and great price too. I even got it cheaper used for a week on an auction site- £93.
The screen is quite good in sunlight and performs very well. The pics of the homescreen next to the iPhone on here look like it has some milkiness to it, but mine the black is very black, is bright and crystal clear even with the brightness at its lowest setting.
Of course in UK, there is free Google maps navigation. Flash browsing is available on Skyfire browser if wanted.
It has a lot of cool features in the camera that were not mentioned, that would require 2 special camera apps from the market to get similar functionality. Night mode takes decent pics in the absence of a camera flash, just like the Galaxy S.
The capacitive screen is so responsive and easy to use.
Much better than the other phones compared to it at the end.
I just wish that I could remove Orange's rubbish apps and 4 game demos. Of course I use the TouchWiz 3 homescreen too.
"This is actually a great offering in the lower/midranged phone market. This is a good starter device for someone using android."
Yes absolutely, right! Android is the best at the moment

I use this phone 3 weeks. Its very fast. But has problems with some apps. They dont support this Resolution. Samsung come on!!!
They are more like cousins to spica i5700. And I can see the same fate as of spica. No updates after one major update !
Samsung seems to be on mission to abandon their customers along wid their phones !
This is actually a great offering in the lower/midranged phone market. This is a good starter device for someone using android.
Very nice review. I've been looking for a review of this phone the passed days on the web, but couldn't find anything yet.
I'm still in doubt about buying this phone. I love all the features and think the UI is nice, but I'm afraid the screen won't be good enough...
Will the resolution be a problem in combination with some Android applications??
I today ordered mine.
I really like this phone, but Is this screen res too low and ugly?
Omnia has also a QVGA screen.
Good point about the better screen but will they not also get flash with andriod 2.2?
with a better screen, it could change some users mind to buy this instead of galaxy s
Nice Review
