Alui, 07 Oct 2010Tipical. The ideea is that 25 is not on par with 30FPS. And do not worry, the SGS videos shot ... moreYou can shoot a video at 100 FPS, it will still play at 25 on PAL.
Also, as mentioned below, you can get the N8 to record at 30 FPS, here comes the kicker, FOR FREE WITHOUT A JAILBREAK!
Observer, 07 Oct 2010May I also remind you, that:
http://mynokiablog.com/2010/10/05/nokia-n8-compression-module... moreLet's talk about the features "at hand", shall we?
And BTW, I think that the spb shell on my X6 looks nicer than the Symbian ^3 UI. Definetly, has more home screens:).
[deleted post]image quality is less than pixon12 and ip4? haha, i guess its time for you to visit your eye doctor, its an early sign... =p
The best Nokia phone after the N95 was the E71! I had it for two years and I really miss it! I have the iPhone 4 now but really miss the features and the qwerty keyboard of my E71! The N8 is probably the best Nokia phone ever, it can do much more then the iPhone 4 no question.
Alui, 07 Oct 2010So no rewiev for the web browsing. And no review for the apps?
Is this a SMARTPHONE? My my my, we have a smart one here.
Did you read the preview? Did you notice the presence of the "P" for preview and not review?
Did you read the were they repeatedly said things like "if the handset manages to maintain this kind of performance for the complete out-and-out review, it has every chance of being announced as the best Nokia smartphone since the N95".
I can only assume you were reading it on your dodgy iPhone or Android browser and for this reason yo missed these less than subtle clues that this was just a preview and not a full review!
INK, 07 Oct 2010I wonder if you're from America.... (sarcasm) In Europe, the PAL standard is 25 FPS. So is ... moreTipical. The ideea is that 25 is not on par with 30FPS. And do not worry, the SGS videos shot at 30 FPS look great on "european" TVs.
INK, 07 Oct 2010Personally, I don't see why a tech site would not be excited about any companies new flagship ... moreI guess I need to correct you in a few places. First of all, only the i-phone4 caused a considerable hype, the Galaxy S was pretty much 'average' amongst all other android flagships apart from the display. The nexus one already had 512MB RAM and a 1GHz processor. Now although the Galaxy S has a much better processor, most people will just look at the specs and put it as an equivalent to the Snapdragons out there. And there is still no such game in the app market to make use of that powerful GPU. Re N8 being over-hyped, well, it's not. Like it or not, it's been the most popular phone since its announcement, and has shattered all previous popularity records. Also it's the most feature-packed phone out there, thus it takes a lot more time (and hype) to judge its merit properly. Guess that pretty much clarifies the whole 'hype' thingy.
Alui, 07 Oct 2010"The Nokia N8 does well on the video end too - it offers 720p recording at 25 fps, which ... moreMay I also remind you, that:
http://mynokiablog.com/2010/10/05/nokia-n8-compression-module-hacked-smooth-30fps-video-and-11mb-12mp-noise-reduced-images/
Nokia N8's camera is already hacked to create 30fps also, and pictures in RAW-format (whoaa!), and this is just the beginning. Nokia is also rumoured to be working on a camera update, which should be out soon.
Alui, 07 Oct 2010So no rewiev for the web browsing. And no review for the apps? Is this a SMARTPHONE? Read the title of the article a few more times, then see if your comment still makes sense.

Please look at the first video before making comments about this. You'll see a lag when flipping the screens. At one time the users gets lost, he flips to the right and the screens flip to the left. There is NO lag on SGS or iPhone4.

In Europe, the PAL standard is 25 FPS. So is the rest of the world, except North America. Not every company out there has their standards set by North America.
So no rewiev for the web browsing. And no review for the apps?
Is this a SMARTPHONE?
awesome, 07 Oct 2010seriously gsmarena are making to much hype over this phone, i mean ok it has an kick ass camer... more"I mean X10,galaxy S,HTC desire all have bigger screens, better processors and a better OS. "
Is that all those phones have going for them?
Seriously, if a processor, underclocked to 680Mhz, together with a GPU is enough to handle the demands of the N8 with Symbian^3 then what difference would a larger processor make? It has been stated on numerous occasions that Symbian is far less resource heavy than other OSs, those phones may well need that extra processing power.
The infatuation with bigger screens is rather humorous and I suppose it explains the existence of something like the Samsung GALAXY Tab. If you want a big screen then get that, or a laptop. There obviously is such a thing as a screen that is too small to be useable but after that it boils down to personal preference. I currently make do with my N82s small screen. This will be a giant in comparison. So all good for me thanks. Just having a bigger screen does not make a phone better.
The better OS comment is the one that made me laugh the most though! An OS is such a subjective thing. One man's meat is another's poison! Just because you feel those other operating systems are far superior does not mean that every reviewer has to feel the same way. It is the job of a reviewer to be impartial and comment on what they actually see and not the perceptions of others who have not even used the final software release. I am extremely familiar with Symbian, so in all likelihood I will find this phone immensely usable. Just because the phone does not have your OS of choice on does not automatically mean it can't be the best.
"The Nokia N8 does well on the video end too - it offers 720p recording at 25 fps, which is on par with the best in class".
May I remind you, dear GSMArena "experts" that the best in class phones offer 720p at 30!!! FPS. 25 is not on par with 30. This confirms me the bias of the review towards N8.
awesome, 07 Oct 2010seriously gsmarena are making to much hype over this phone, i mean ok it has an kick ass camer... moreDo you really look at the world through some rose-tinted glass? X10, Desire, Galaxy S are better phones than N8? Well, they sure have their strong points, but calling them 'outright better' is a bit too much. And like it or not, all of those are already 'abandoned' by their manufacturers. X10 will get eclair update God-knows-when, and even then you'll have just 128MB application memory, and then SE will concentrate on the X12. So much for 'great' android flagship! Galaxy S is already out of the market, and Desire is only 'desirable' until the Desire HD comes out. The truth is, N8 is in it's own league. Don't prove yourself a fool with worthless comparings.
Nokia did really smart thing by took the chance of Real Sony SATIO project to be their own product.
THIS N8 IS SATIO FULL GROWN VERSION!
At first SATIO from Sony promising product of first Symbian Foundation OS but that won't happen it was ruined by Symbian holder ...... it take more time on development as it Nokia take time for much better sensor
Later year ..... SATIO had died and N8 superior rising hype but S^3 won't live so long because sluggish of UI will kill it silently inside!
"Below the display are the microphone pinhole and the menu key. There are no hardware call-handling keys as on previous Nokia smartphones and we found that a bit confusing at first, but eventually got used to it. Yet what we believe would have improved usability is a hardware back button as the software one is by far not as comfortable, being in a different place at different parts of the interface."
This text says all about the "progress" of Symbian ^3. LOL.
Personally, I don't see why a tech site would not be excited about any companies new flagship device. That being said, even if all the people on here that are saying that GSMArena is "over-hyping" the N8 are speaking truth, it still doesn't match the amount of hype that was raised around the iPhone 4 or even the Galaxy S.
I found 12mp shootout Nokia N8 / Pixon12 / Satio
