To show you how much gsmarena are biased. they didn't mention one of the major flaws of the n8 which is that it doesn't have a led flash! Yes this means that you won't be able to video record in night time or low light conditions. You will only be able to video record at the morning or in a bright area.
Don't you think if gsmarena were really fair and honest with their users, that they should mention this important thing? even the satio and pixon which were made one year before the n8 had the led flash + xenon flash.
Don't get me wrong my friend, I'm not happy that I'm accusing gsmarena, but there is just something fishy about this whole n8 thing! And how about gsmarena takes photos in night time to see how good the n8 is compared to the sony digi camera ??! The n8 is brilliant and I totally respect nokia for making such a beast.
But the way gsmarena are trying to make the n8 better than a sony digi camera is just misleading, shame on them.

N8 have stupid and slow UI with slow proc. not fair preview! ... morethis is a comment. i never had fascination to android phones, samsung htc sony ericson and other manufacturers cant just create their own decent OS and relying on a 3rd party OS. iphone sucks, compared to n8, n8 is far better. its just the applications that makes iphone popular, but lets do a comparison of an n8 and iphone without those apps lets see who'll win. n8 offers 12mp camera, amoled display, it has fm and u can watch tv using a special headset no data usage, can be a wifi hotspot, its pentaband, usb on the go, hdmi, divx and flash support...now, can u brag ur iphone? haha

Basing from the video zoom thing I wonder if it would just be safe to always start your videos at 2x zoom and never go below it. That should make the videos a lot nicer.

Anonymous, 07 Oct 2010the resolution makes games a lot sharper tooOk. I don't have iph4 so i can't comment any further. If you say so, then i'll believe you. It's just that on a 3.2 640x320 screens i can't see any pixels, more so in wvga screens. Then ipslcd came out and i thought isn't wvga enough? What difference it would make then? But i guess i have to see for myself too. However, since i can't see difference bet nhd and wvga that much, i dont think i'll able to see any in ipslcd compared to wvga.
Going back to the review, gsm never mentioned nhd to be better than ipslcd. So it's not biased like mike says. They just speak for the general audience out of common sense.
And like some user says it has both negatives and positives keeping the review well balanced. Good job Gsmarena!

Hope they just made it 4 inches so that the retina became much more usable.

Was really puzzled by the zoom...the way the quality jumps up at higher zoom. Made no sense. Did alittle serching on this and yes Damian Dinning did mention about this in one of hes Q&A's.
The reason is quite sad actually, just a lack in processing power. when you use zoom under 2x, it uses alot more processing power because of the binning (combining several pixels into bigger ones to achieve the 1280x720) than it does with 2-3x zoom. Higher zoom means less pixels to manage and the more resources are freed up to process the image quality....I Cant believe the GPU isnt fast enough to handle it :(
Heres a quote from Damian where he explains it:
"The binning process is essential in handling the full frame sensor view down to the required resolution for 720p video at 25fps. The benefit of the binning process, though, is that it removes any noise that would be otherwise be present.
At 2x zoom, however, because we are only using a cropped section of the sensor, we effectively have more processing power available which allows us to process images with less detail loss, so the images at around 2.5x have more detail than at 1x. As the zoom then approaches 3x we then reach the limit of scaling. More than 3x would mean upscaling rather than 1:1 or downscaling, as we are doing up to this point. The downside at 2x above though is that we get a little more noise because we lose the benefit of the binning process to wipe out the noise."
