It is, but the human eye cannot make the distinction when is about times less that 1/50 of a second. Just check the weppages loading benchmarks.
"Not to mention Android still can't use GPU to render it's UI, so have fun drawing those triangles into ur UI with just the CPU."
Not to mention that the OS is not meant to use the GPU in any OS (Why? GPU is for rendering DYNAMICALLY generated images, thus triagle pes second measure, not the desktop image of a phone/pc). GPU is meant exclusivelly for graphical apps.
On the http://www.glbenchmark.com/ they have the TOP 5 ranking. It's easier to understand than funny names and percentages, as given in your comparative page:).

Feel free to prove me wrong some way, you certainly won't do it at least judging from these benchmarks:

And if that was true, wouldnt that really make SGS alot better and faster and smoother than even the iPhone, which it definitely isnt? Just the benchmarks show that the SGS has nowhere near that kind of advantage in anything.

[deleted post]"In my country, many people still use nokia proprietary charger"
For which Nokia phone? :)))) Each Nokia has a different charging inlet.
thevalueseeker, 11 Oct 2010Also, all features (or the absence of features), does not affect everyone in the same way..e.g... morepretty horrid phone though, ironic that I was so happy with the E61i, upgraded from there and the E72 was so damn unstable, full of software issues..
What firmware version do you using right now?
E72 is stable and work like a charm. Got no problem. Except if you are using early firmware.
Mark, 10 Oct 2010You do realize that the big name racing titles out for the N8 run better on the N8/E7/C7/C6-01... moreAre you joking? With that hardware and screen resolution? SGS can render 90!!! million triangles per second. N8 just 32.
And BTW, the N8 hardware will cause internet pages to load much slower than on SGS, not because of the Flash 4 (With Froyo SGS will have Flash 10 and still will be faster) but because the pages require the same amount of data to be loaded, and pages with many MB (photos) will load slower on N8, even if the resolution of the N8 is much lower than that on the SGS, because before displaying it correctly, a page must be fully loaded.
"Charging through microUSB works fine so you don’t have to bring a charger with you all the time.
The bottom of the Nokia N8 features nothing but the Nokia proprietary charger plug. The charger plug lets you use your old charger with the N8 too, giving you a better chance of finding somewhere to plug your device when you are away."
That's how a STUPID idea is presented as ingenious:). Two charging ports!!! How about a UNIVERSAL charger for the USB port, like everyone else has?
And this beats them all: "The charger plug lets you use your old charger with the N8 too, giving you a better chance of finding somewhere to plug your device when you are away". What??? Do the USB chargers require "proprietary" power outlets?!!!! LOOOL.
thevalueseeker, 11 Oct 2010agreed..that was exactly my point..in UK though, it seems they have bungled the pricing..costs... moreI think that over time the N8 price will drop below Desire and Galaxy S but that will happen only after supply catches the demand.
Currently I think there is quite a few people like me who are willing to choose N8 over the Android devices even at the same price.

No sing... moreAlso, all features (or the absence of features), does not affect everyone in the same way..e.g. somebody maybe wanting a phone with a great camera, nothing better than N8..as far as emailing go all of them are pretty similar..somebody like I have taken the medium path - i got myself an ipod touch so that I have access to all the apps in the app store - now i read books, comics listen to music and play games without worrying whether the battery may run out before an important call..and got myself a E72 because of Nokia's reliability and support..pretty horrid phone though, ironic that I was so happy with the E61i, upgraded from there and the E72 was so damn unstable, full of software issues..wanna change, but dunno what to get..maybe the E7 will be for me..will wait for it..no phone without qwerty for me..

All these iphone4 vs n8 posts. There's plenty of room for every phone in the market. No single phone works for everyone. That's why we have all these choices. Best way to measure which phone is the best, is to compare their sales. Although the n8 and the ip4 aren't really in the same price range. The n8 is more of like a high, mid end phone, while the ip4 is a high end phone. So obviously, they are not in the same category. The n8 should be pitted to the samsung wave, not the ip4.

nice preview, can't wait for full review.
btw, Nokia N8 is good, but i am not sure if i am ready to use a full touchscreen phone. i prefer an old fashion keypad.
i hope Nokia will make a phone similar to N8 but with actual physical keypads.
Wheez, 10 Oct 2010To show how comparable mentioned devices are: http://www.glbenchmark.com/compare.jsp?benchm... moreThis show that the CPU is not as good, But HD and 3D are on par and in some points the N8 is better, This is really great! Thank you for sharing this, GSMArena should relay on this if it's a trusted source, is this a benchmarking software, something similar to those on PC?
Anonymous, 10 Oct 2010Hav u even use iph4 demo to witness reception issue!!?Not really, I have one friend who told me about this issue, and also one of my close friends is getting the iPhone 4 so it's real time to test it myself, but anyways not only this issue which is stopping me, because they just do not put the needed features.
No one will conveince me that apple doesn't know how to make their iPhone send files via bluetooth.
Some of simple reasons :
1- No flash in browser
2- Not too customizeable, i prefer symbian menue where you can have folders in the menu, You can replace the multitasking handler for example, I have a software whenever I want to switch to any app it shows me how much free ram I have, and this is very useful!
3- Bluetooth is a very common way for sharing files, and this is really a shame for apple, It's only a software, Common apple!!
4- My mother has the 3gs and really I don't like the fact that I cannot use my fingernail! Some websites have links that are really near each other, so it's just more accurate to not use my fat finger ;)
.... and you go on, There is too many disadvantages, I'm not saying the Nokia N8 doesn't have but for me, The N8 disadvantages are just for the look, anything other than the OS does look bad! If there is something then I might not get it, Even I have my E72 so if anything the N8 shows for me I can always get back,
Keep in mind, I'm not a sick guy who loves a company, I just look for the best thing and also value! for this reason, I have a Macbook Pro, for it's quality and smooth OS, and the OS do everything I need and better than Windows, because there are software that works on Mac and i need them so that's it! But being blind and a fan of any company is nothing, until I work with them, and they give me everything I need!
koushikp, 08 Oct 2010:-) okay..this ain't a blog..got me there..
I know Symbian will never be really as long as ... moreDude, apps are not made by the company....it is open to the developers...if apple has more apps, it does not mean that apple is supporting their software more than nokia is....
BTW, you will find most of the apps of iphone on the apple store or android on the android store....this is not the case with symbian...symbian apps are widespread, infact, their are so many dedicated symbian app websites like mobicreed, symbianworld, dotsis and ofcourse OVI...and other non dedicated sites such as zedge, mobile9, dailymobile etc....so if you are to add up all these, u will find tht there are hell more apps for symbian thn for iphone or android...

Each device has an emphasis on somewhat different thing, but overall they are very even.

htc desire:399pounds
galaxy s:429pounds
iph4:499pounds
So is it fair? It's not like that everywhere though. iPhone around here costs 700€ for 16gb one, 800€for 32gb one. N8 costs 500€. All prices unlocked with no monthly costs or deals or anything.
Although I think the N8 is perfectly comparable to all those devices and doesn't really shame the slightest of bit against them.
The home screen transition isn't lag or slow responsiveness. It's the way the phone has been designed. It's probably cos some widgets use sideways real time scrolling or something. Just go to the music gallery or picture gallery and you'll see that it has nothing to do with the phone not being capable. The music/photo gallery will scroll at 60 FPS as fast as your finger can just swipe. If you want a somewhat instant change, turn of the transitions or use the button in the middle (with the dots), faster than swiping and less smudge on the screen :D
Clint, 10 Oct 2010"To all those who say Android is only eye candy: -can you lock individual apps like in A... more3 home screens kinda sucks. Transition is not even smooth for three
