What's the point behind buying something pretty when it cannot even do what your old phone could?
No tethering, no USB mass storage (So I have to use a crappy piece of software to transfer a limited spectrum of file types), and no multitasking.
Hell, you cannot even pick your own ringtones? What the hell?
i hope samsung will launch a cheap phone (like the price of corby) with a windows 7 os. i love the transition effects of this phone! it blows me away!!!!
there's a lot of "no" in the main disadvantage, and the things that WP 7 OS cannot do is a very crucial thing for a high end phone, and i dont understand the looks of WP7os, the font is to big and its like out of space, not fit to the screen.. i hope there will be a customization soon..
S, 11 Oct 2010Did i read no bluetooth, no copy paste, no USB mass storage mode, no file manager, no video ca... morehaven't heard of bluetooth missing. As for the others they will come with updates. All the disadvantages you mentioned are covered by the current Windows mobile which has been out since 2003. But it wasn't polished enough so people didn't buy. That's why Microsoft spent big money to make something better. And they did, the touch and feel is flawless. I am just waiting patiently for the release. Only Iphone comes close, android is too fragmented and too buggy and loaded with rubbish from the OEM plus you have viruses cause it's there is no application vetting.
This article is baloney. Looks like you spent 1 minute researching the advantages and 7 days digging for negative things to list. Equalizer?? That's really important. But you don't even mention Xbox Live.
I will never use a phone without miltitask. I can't believe they bring out a phone without basic feutures.
Anonymous, 12 Oct 2010One area where WP7 could give serious problems to Android is gaming. Yea, as an Android fan and user, Android has come a long ways since the G1, but it still has a long ways to go. Gaming is a big shortcoming. Both from game selection and also having a centralized hub. More developers are coming on board and Open Feint has gained popularity. Only time will tell if this is enough to compete against WP7 and Xbox Live.
Another area that Android falls drastically short is media support and integration. There's no good way to buy music. The music apps all lack some key features. WP7 will have Zune Pass, Netflix out of the gate, and Uverse Mobile. That's a very good start and Android has no equivalent service yet.
It's a good time to be a consumer. Hopefully WP7 will push Google and the Android community to speed up support and provide a new level of polish with 3.0/Gingerbread.
May i ask how come so many people know everything there is to know about WP7 if it is not even released yet.
I mean there are people who have a comment on the size of the app market that windows will have, have you been there to see the amount it will have and the quality?
where is the solid evidence i mean this phone has been hung out to dry without it even being in the market yet.
I am an android user and also someone that's interested in tech i dont really care who makes just as long as it works well. I have been using an android phone for nearly 2 years now. And it is far from perfect in fact dare i say it because i will get shot down in some areas it is reall lacking and buggy.
1. Its great to have multitasking if it works properly and dosent become just a battery drainer. If i have loaded an app to kill apps i want them to be dead but that is not always the case on Android hence me charging my phone twice even though i have turned of background updates.
2. They app market is crap sorry plain and simple i said it i will again its crap stuff crashes and sometimes even after loading just plain and simply dosent work.(FORCE CLOSER ANYONE!!)
3. No decent games and i mean games for the gamer where are they. and if you were a developer would you bother because not only do you have to put up with the that there is so many different version of android around there is also different handset makers who like to mess with the software as well.
4. Lets go on shall we no decent place to buy music or should i be counting the crap way that Amazon does it. Oh and no decent music player to play it on, but of course you always download the 100 different types they have in the market.
5. Software updates less just pass on this because it a joke.
I could go on but i wont. because its boring just like the people who keep going on and on with the list of what this OS dosent have yet and who have never used it never been to the app market yet.
No i am not a fanboy and i dont even know if i want a WM7 phone but i am due an upgrade in March so i am looking around. you can keep your openess it makes Android look bad and run bad. it has seriously buggy software which google seem to do nothing about because they dont care just as long as they can make money the nexus is key example of that.
Oh by the way i can judge a bit i use it that how you post a run down on a product you use first.
I think there need to be chance give to Microsoft guys. The disadvantages usually became an advantage later.
Just look back Android 1,5 years ago and now, take a look to iOS in the beginning and now. This Widows phone is completely new story than the previous and it is really starting from scratch.
As the other OS's for Windows it all depends what the users wants and what will be develop.
A long time supporter of Microsoft I resisted the temptation to buy an iPhone or an Android device. I waited patiently until phone 7 was finally released before purchasing new phones. I'm sad to say I fear phone 7 will go the way of the Dodo judging by the list of short comings. I've never been so disappointed after all the hype I was expecting to see some real innovation but to find it is simply a MS version of the iPhone. Such a pity - because now we can compare all that is available - I'm afraid the Android 3.0 looks to be a real winner and blackberry has not forgotten to business consumer. Microsoft I think you should climb down from your ivory tower and listen to the people and become a innovator again rather than a follower.
MAKUBEX, 13 Oct 2010can u actually call it a smartphone with all the disadvantags???? "GUESS NOT!!!"A smartphone is a phone that offers more abilities than a basic phone. With that definition of course you can call WP7 phones, smartphones. If it doesn't, you can call it feature phones. But seriously, who cares?
can u actually call it a smartphone with all the disadvantags????
I like the htc surround that was announced but there's no way I'm getting it on this OS, i want to bluetooth songs, multitask i have to b able to listen music n surf net. All they did where copy the bad things about the iphone, who is going to buy these phones with small app store. Apple was good because it integrated music at another level, then came there apps. I don't want to have to turn on my computer just to send a file to my phone. I can live with that on my ipod but not my phone too.
