Broken windows, 12 Oct 2010Update or not, windows mobile will always fail. No one cares about these devices anymore. Peop... moreThe average user in a shop doesn't really know how to differentiate between OSes, let alone know the complete set of features. They go into a shop, and basically see brands. They will see HTC, Samsung, etc.

Some even buy phones without even switching it on, they just listen to a salesman, who will try his hardest to sell them a phone. Some others, even after having the features explained, will choose one and say "I like this one, it's pretty!"

Microsoft, in this regard, has plenty of opportunity to pull back the market share they lost, just by having lots of models to compete with Android. Software aside, some of the handsets today were decidedly nice looking to me.

No one can say for sure what will happen, but I wouldn't write Microsoft off so easily just yet.

Anonymous, 12 Oct 2010too many Main disadvantages... waiting for official update.. then i will buy wp7 phone.. Zz..ZzUpdate or not, windows mobile will always fail. No one cares about these devices anymore. People have moved on with iPhone, blackberry and android. If windows seeks attention then they should have come up with something unique that covers all features of a true smartphone. They should not have to wait for developers to make up for those disadvantages. 2011 just round the corner and still they make someting that was meant for 2002

I don't see anything saying that windows 7 will not support SD cards, like some people claim. I hope it will. Cloud storage may sound cool, but have you tried to use it in, say, US, Asia or Africa when your home is in Europe? Anybody in their sane mind will switch off data before going abroad, unless they have money to burn. Cloud storage can never be a replacemenet for on-board storage.

My 2.5 year old windows mobile 6.1 phone is more advanced than this "new" windows phone. Apart from no flash support (and the age-related relative slowness of the processor) it has none of the disadvantages mentioned in the review.

I don't think so, too much swiping business in and out of menus just gets boring after a while.

I love the UI, like fashion magazine :) but i won't buy it now. Its still baby need to growth.
I think all this disadvantages Microsoft will handle it. Like copy paste, they already promise the feature will be available early 2011, maybe sooner.

How the H**L could Microsoft do this?

Please say that there will be a version for advanced users

I totally agree with your statement right there. This must be a joke or some kind of lame strategy to grab people's attention to a sleek flashy graphics.

I can only say that those fancy stuffs are nothing more than making the phone sluggish. IMHO, Windows is the best company in the world in teaming with hardware manufacturers, which is ofcourse ironically speaking.

                              Cheers,

Don't underestimate the power of familiarity. Android isnt as entrenched worldwide as it may be in a few countries. The familiarity of the Windows brand might pull back former users happy to see new exciting phone models.

Android and WP7 may be indistinguishable to the average user, heck even the manufacturers are the same, HTC, Samsung etc. What's to tell them apart? Here is where the familiarity of the Windows name may play a role, and WP7 may be able to claw back market share at Android's expense.

I still think the most phone that isn't missing features is the nokia N8, Don't tell me the UI doesn't look good! That's nothing for me, I don't care, Give me a computer that has Windows Xp or even 98 but do the job properly and I'll be happy, The only thing about symbian is that it's right left buttons are too thick and they take up like a lot of the space! That's the bad thing about it! But That's all.

For this too long disadvantages, I've rather stay with symbian! Why no copy and past, no bluetooth transfer! This is not really for smart-phones. Smart phones are not all about gaming, anyways, I'm sure all of the disadvantages will be solved with programs, but why are companies doing this! USB on The go is a great feature, I hope they include these on other phones, android is good, but no complete hardware! anyway, this is just my personal opinion, maybe I'm not that expert to know the future!
