Here is a copy of engadget comment by ArticiaS...
"I justed watched the video. Engadget are you serious? You tested the browser when you had 11 (ELEVEN) apps running in the background, including Ovi Maps, the video player and at least one game?! Of course the browser can't perform really fast under these circumstances."
The fact that it actually does anything is awesome example of how much less resources Symbian actually needs. It's quite obvious Engadget doesn't understand real multitasking since they are mostly iPhone fans.
Doc Shahkar, 15 Oct 2010I guess , u dont read the review about the phones from authentic websites as Engadget , GSM ar... moreWhy do people act like they know so much more than they obviously ever will? Build = sexiness + aesthetics. Awesome. I thought, I'd prefer calling that design. And I'd refer to how rigid and sturdy a thing is by it's 'build', but I guess you know best, doc. And all you need for any conclusion, it seems, is another source telling you something. Most are saying it, so must be right, etc. Must be, if you notice, is a probability. And anyway, media giants feed off people like you. Who will listen to the big boys. Why, cuz they're big! CNN can't ever be biased or lie, neither can FOX, cuz they're big! And I'm retarded. Please. Nokia has been making smartphones since what, 2002? The others that have joined in all of a sudden. They're for people who want something that's more of a smarter feature phone. And to me, that's what they all are. When you add stuff like copy paste, it speaks a lot. That isn't excusable. It's basic functionality. So go ahead, use your super apps. I've been happy with my pencil key for 6 years.

this video has same engadget fail loading http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcZXCqi4f2Q
I simply cannot believe the fact that GSM Arena missed out the N8's unlimted music. You get free unlimted music for 1 year and what's more, you even get to keep all the songs you downloaded for life! Thats a deal clincher for a music maniac like me!
im gonna buy this phone. everything is balanced. ram, cpu and hardware. unlike android devices that are so overdesign in ram and cpu but has not potential hardware

Doc Shahkar, 15 Oct 2010For a change , NOKIA lovers , lemme tell u this , that i was a Die hard symbian fan . But now ... morethen what are you doing here? why dont you just go to iphone or android's review section and tell all those. We dont need your opinion here....you are so bitter nokia n8 rocks. Specs wise nokia n8 is so much better. Its only apps that makes iphone and android good phones. Lets get them raw without apps, lets compare....haha n8 rocks!!!!!
Here is my two cents, the reason why iphone rules the US market is not it is best device but coz it is lack of pure competition. Just look at every carrier's line up of handsets, we do have Galaxy S but they strip it down, same with HTC! If one wants to buy an unlocked phone there is no Galaxy with US 3g band neither HTC.......Thanks to Nokia at least they don't cave in with carriers & bring out some top edge phones.

A Phone with a Glass back!!!? JHaHJahJahJah you dont need to have a diploma from MIT to know it wont work!!! JahJAhjAhjHajHAjAJHA
Keep your scratched Iphones hidden on your ugly rubber covers i dont need them my N8 its Beautiful and bullet proof!!
@ Westy : Further to your comments regarding the selling price of an iPhone. I found it rather humorous to read that the bill of materials used in the manufacture of the iPhone and the N8 only differ by a few cents. Humorous in the sense that sheeple are still willing to pay a far higher price for the iPhone than the N8 (iPhone 16Gb is R7000 in RSA while the N8 will be on sale for R4700). They are of course paying for the excellent marketing that lured them into assuming an iPhone was the best smart phone ever in the first place.
ROFL at some of the iPhone fan boys here! Crikey i've been into phones ever since they were the size of a dialasis machine with the battery in a seperate pull along trailer! And who were the Pioneers right from the start? Nokia. End of. I am not a Nokia fan, or fan of anything else, i am just here to emphasise a point that all these rather childish Apple and Samsung fans seem to miss out.
Yes, i agree the iPhone 4 and Galaxy S are superb phones, in fact the Galaxy S wipes the floor with the iPhone, just so much slicker to use IMO. I couldn't give a stuff about 200,000 apps, you don't use them all the time and most are party pieces rather than anything genuinely useful, (as opposed to Nokia Navigation, which is a)free, and b) stunningly accurate and has never let me down).
Anyways, the overwhelming sense i get with an iPhone is that it's all about Kudos, the shiny new gadget everyone wants to be seen with, rather then something different, more understated, and cool like the Galaxy S....Or an N8. Having seen this beast in action i agree there are things that could be better, but then so could things be better on the iPhone and Galaxy, (both of them have very average cameras. Pics look great on their screens but are far from photo grade quality!). What matters is that Nokia are going the right way, and have a huuuge line of long standing users that have remembered them from the start.
FACT; No other phone manufacturer has produced more classics and 'iconic' than Nokia. Apple release their iPhone and think they can charge what they want for it, THAT is what i will always disagree with. They have operators bent over a barrell and it forces people to have to settle for a £45-£50 price plan in order to get a free handset.
Just my opinion of course, rant off :-)
Anonymous, 15 Oct 2010Any chance to get some real Battery tests especially against other phones? They did a battery test here it is!
I'm with Clint on this purely on the basis that he can construct a sentence using grammatically correct English. Why do all the fantards use txt speak?
I'll stick with my 3GS. There still isn't a phone out there that makes me want to upgrade.
The Galaxy S still looks like the best smartphone out there.
Any chance to get some real Battery tests especially against other phones?
Doc, your arguments are becoming tiresome now and I have better things to do on a Friday night.
Three things I feel the need to mention first though.
Firstly, this is a Nokia N8 thread so it should go without saying that you are bound to bump into the odd Nokia or Symbian fan here. It is a bit like going to a Metallica concert and moaning about all the metal heads present. Not sure what the Justin Beiber fans are doing here though.
Secondly, I have repeatedly stated that I do not yet own the N8 so I am here reading up about the phone while deciding if it is the phone for me. I am not trying to convince myself that I made the right purchase. The same cannot be said for the iPhone and Samsung owners in this thread.
Thirdly, and related to the second point, I am unable to provide you with direct comparisons of the apps available on Symbian^3 as it has just been released and I do not have the phone yet. Honestly if the difference all boils down to flashiness then it is really neither here nor there for me. You may feel it is a necessity but I would rather have added functionality (USB on the go, HDMI, output, FM transmitter etc etc etc). This is an area I am not a huge expert on but Nokia is now encouraging development on the QT platform which by all accounts makes developing for a large array of phones much simpler. The future may not be all doom and gloom for the N8 as you are insinuating.
Have a wonderful evening.
Doc Shahkar, 15 Oct 2010Ok dude , keep doing this " Nokia can do what other iOS and Androids can Do " Song .... morehey u own iphone rite? not everone like to hv pulse app or whatever u mentioned..there r different kind of users as well..dont expect everyone to be like u as users..give respect to others..by bashing nokia u wont be able to prove anything..n simple if u r not interested no need to buy ..
