I just bought this phone... I LOVE IT.
Seriously it's a great phone. It doesn't matter if it has 2.1 or 2.2.

CAn somebody explain please if I can save a contact's phone number from the tezt message window? There seems to be no way to do this. THis phone is not straight forward as one may expect and I am seriously disappointed with how the contacts are managed. It's as though the phone element of this mobile phone was forgotten.

If you can't find one in the android market, I guess you have to convert your movie files to mp4.

There is also an app that makes you play different types of sound file. It has a demo version but expires after sometime. I can't remember what it was. But you can search it out in the Android Market.

Guys, additional questions,
1. i am having problems with my x8 when playing games. Whenever i lock the phone and resume, or play any games for about 10 - 15mins , the application will stop on it's own. I could only use the home key to escape, then stop the application and reaccess it to resume playing (of course i have to start again from the beginning).

2. when i open the application "floating images", my screen would blink as the pictures stream. dunno why..

can anyone help me with these?

For the price SE is peddling it in India, it's just not worth it. There are better phones available for these specs. I can understand the sales & marketing team at SE have a high opinion of their products but unfortunately the potential customers do not think so that's why they have priced themselves out of the market in the last 3 years in India.

Bigger thickness, actually, HELPS you grip your phone more securely. 15mm isn't much at all and you'll have more space under the finger to hold the phone, so it's less likely to slip from your hand. And bigger thickness means more room for larger battery, without adding to height or width - the really problematic dimensions when it comes to the pocketability of mobile phones try putting a X10 or similar phone in your jeans front pocket and have a seat - impossible, huh? :D ). Fashion can be good sometimes but it also can be deceiving, so don't think so easily that thinner necessarily has to be better :D

Just look at other manafactures problems, trust me you are lucky to be with Sony :

Motorola is ranked #251 out of the 317 companies that have a CustomerServiceScoreboard.com rating with an overall score of 25.16 out of a possible 200. This score rates Motorola customer service and customer support as Terrible.

the source :
http://www.cust omerservicescor…com/Motorola

Froyo major problems and flaws in Droid X :

http://www.i4u.com/40945/motorola-owns-droid-x-froyo-problems-doesnt-have-solution

So stop whining because you are not the only people that are facing problems, others are worse with and their getting very bad support with buggy softwares.

Samsung also reported problems with Froyo 2.2 !

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_pulls_out_the_galaxy_s_froyo_update_due_to_bugs-news-2014.php

The thing is that getting Froyo late but working well and perfect is much better than getting it now and making it work worse than 1.6 that we already have right ?? So now let’s just enjoy the 2.1 upgradw which seems to be the best os working on android in the meantime.

Cheers

Can you comment on the dynamic range, please?
Currently the X8 is my favorite to replace my old phone, but the use with a headphone makes me worry with just 75dB - especially at the low end of volume. I wonder where the limitation of the dynamic range comes from: either small maximal output voltage or high floor noise. Especially the latter is distracting with sensitive headphones (e.g. in-ear 16Ohms like the Sennheiser series) in a quiet environment listening to classical music.
It would much help to publish the floor noise level when the headset is connected and the music is playing a "muted" file. It is not sufficient to measure in "paused" mode as the units sometimes are muting the audio output in that state.
