The phone comes in different package from different markets. The phone I bought for the gf had only 1 colour which was stated on the box. I know some packages come with all 4 or 5 colours.

In all honesty to the people complaining about X8 not having froyo, you have to realise that at this market segment (screen size, hardware and price) no one really cares if its 1.6 or 2.2. For most people here debating this (including me) yes X10 should really have at least 2.1, but its not an issue for X8. People in this market will care about colour, size of phone, style, screen etc and thats about it. They are not gonna go root and run benchmarks on an X8 segment phone.

Also I considered galaxy 3 and wildfire with X8 and I choose X8 because its HVGA and not QVGA which I believe is much more important than 1.6 v 2.2. Most reviews mentions QVGA is similar unbearable for android.

Anonymous, 20 Oct 2010Completely pointless to release Android 1.6 devices today. This should have shipped with the 2... moreI agree, although I'd take it one step further.

Android devices should now not be shipped with anything less than 2.2

It's the latest version. Why keep churning phones out all the time just to get them onto the market with an outdated OS. Spend a little more time - put 2.2 from the outset & do the testing - sales will be far higher!.

At the moment it's like buying a brand new PC running on windows 98.

Unacceptable!

I think once this phone is rooted and a new ROM is made it should be okay. Only thing that disappoints me is no multi-touch.

Completely pointless to release Android 1.6 devices today. This should have shipped with the 2.1 update the X10 is getting by the end of the month. If it wasn't ready, it should have been held back. Simple as that. What a mess... Sony needs to get this stuff sorted, and quick. It's not a game anymore. If you don't bring all your cards to the table, you're going to lose again and again. HTC, Samsung, and etc aren't sleeping in the Android market... Sony needs to step up or get out.

Anonymous, 20 Oct 2010Definitely agree about the ZTE Blade being a superior alternative to the Xperia X8. For me it ... more...plus it has a capacitive multi touch screen which the X8 doesn't and the X8 costs £30 more....

confused, 18 Oct 2010Surely the orange san francisco/zte blade (3.5" 800 x 480 OLED, 512Mb RAM, 600Mhz CPU ARM... moreDefinitely agree about the ZTE Blade being a superior alternative to the Xperia X8. For me it was a choice of specs and cost followed by the user experience. Needless to say, the ZTE came out on top so I went for that - especially @£99!

Anonymous, 19 Oct 2010Nice design but seriously let down by the software side. 1.6 Android wtf? 3.0's getting anno... more40% of market is using Andriod 2.1 OS

Not to mention most manufacturers took a long time implement stable versions of 2.2 onto their products. 3.0 will be announced soon yes, but it'll take MONTHS before anything stable comes out on existing phones (if they even meet the requirements)

Its okay, x8 target market isn't people who are looking for the latest greatest OS that only a nerds like us know the difference for.

Nice design but seriously let down by the software side. 1.6 Android wtf? 3.0's getting announced / coming out end of this year / early next year already. It probably makes more sense to buy a MOtorola Milestone (which has 2.2.1 Android now already thanks to GOT) than this.

Get your act together SE.

And x8 once it gets 2.1 upgrade should be best phone in its price range hands down.

If you want milestone 2, might as well grab x10. 6 month since I bought it and its still kicks all android phones' butts. I'm using android 1.6, and honestly nothing I really need from 2.1 (except i'm looking forward to 720p recording!)

I already bought this phone last week..
And to be very honest, its not awesome or mind blowing.
Thats not to say that its bad or something. It does everything i want it to do for me. Surf the web, messaging, calls, music, some games, etc
Its just a decent phone for the price tag and thats it..
However i wanted to buy the milestone 2 but its not yet available in india yet so i bought the x8 so when the milestone 2 arrives it ll be easy to switch.
