The lack of a secondary camera is not an issue for me as no one I normally call uses video conferencing either.
jkd, 14 Nov 2010do u use a front facing camera right now or intend to?? I don't as of now.. but I intend to..:) and I don't mind waiting for something better, if there is one on the horizon..
Stylus input also
Probably the only thing good in this phone is the "sleep mode" power off.
Amazing Phone. Bought mine in the UK. The battery lasts more than 24 hours (even with pretty heavy usage - lots of internet and phone calls).
HTC - Great Job!!!
My Desire Z battery lasts half a day max. It's because of poorly written android multitasking and using software drivers instead of hardware which suck the battery dry.
I compared It to my friends new Omnia 7 and that lasts a whole day with EVERYTHING on - 3g, wifi, push email, gps etc.
So at least Microsoft have now worked out how to save battery I hope android do soon.
Hi, I was interested in buying a good Android QWERTY phone.. and that statement in itself reduced the competition (for me) to Desire Z and Milestone 2.. but both these phones have one major problem, no front facing camera..!!! Wouldn't you expect that for the amount you are going to splurge on getting these phones..?!!
Would anyone know any other alternative or a good solution to this problem..??
I'm actually wondering what a "day" is in your reviews of the battery life. Is it a "work" day ie. 8h or 12h or 24h? A day is a very subjective thing to measure by.
You can easily burn thru ANY phone's battery in 2 hours just by maxing brightness, playing a 3D game and switching on 3G, wifi, gps and bluetooth and making them do stuff in the background as well.
John., 13 Nov 2010HTC Desire Z is a weak phone considering what kind of muscle is in competitor's QWERTY devices. What competitors exactly? Is this a reference to the 800Mhz CPU?
I have the T-Mobile G2 although mine is a slightly different phone than the HTC Desire Z, I think the lag seems to be a Sense UI thing because my phone is blazing fast. As for battery, my phone lasts way longer than 2 hours under heavy usage (Games, Browsing, Wifi on, Gps on, Widgets all over the place).
I had to buy another battery to keep in my pocket as It keeps running out even though I charge it every night.
And will the next update finally remove the lag?
Anonymous, 13 Nov 2010Just look at the interface review video here on gsmarena. You will see the lag.I personally do not experience any significant lag. I tried the switching of home screens and scenes and it went pretty smoothly. In my other uses, it seems pretty smooth.
Desire z or Desire?! which one?
I wanna buy one of them but i cant decide
is it true that their battery will run out in 2 hours?
The disadvantages are really diggin deep too find something to write lmao. Out of those there are no front facing camera is about as bad as it gets. Apart from that don't hate !!!
gsmarena have a model with a problem, but test is very good, imagine without problem :D
Anonymous, 12 Nov 2010Going to wait and see what E7 brings to the table. That is one beautiful phone.E7 have 360x640 on a 4 inch screen, that is so NOT "beautiful"!
Stuntman, 13 Nov 2010I do not find it laggy at all. What did you try doing that causes it to be laggy?Just look at the interface review video here on gsmarena. You will see the lag.
Anonymous, 13 Nov 2010Everybody knows that camera and sound on most of the htc phones is crappy. How many new phones ... moreI came here to say the SAME THING. I dont understand, HTC is such a rich company with high revenue and an amazing cell phone team, how hard would it be for them to team up with a lens maker or external team to make a great camera phone?
Had it not been for this I would have bought a HTC phone by now, and I have actually had all major brands up to this point
