Are you saying that APL was responsible for upgrading standard TVs to HDTVs we all know and love today?
Are you saying that desktop computers went from 320x200 to 640x480 to 1920x1080 because of them too?
Stupid remark lol
am from Samsung Korea, specifically the factory for AMOLED. And we are in the prototype of the next screen for the super phone (not smart phone). This Super Phone will be a 3D capable phone sporting a 4.5 Ultra AMOLED. Ultra AMOLED is: a very thin flexible screen with 640x960 resolutions. It has a Light absorbing technology in which the more it is exposed to direct sunlight, the more it is very readable (Mirasol display?), and it has 900 nits of brightness but lesser battery consumption. The screen is still in prototype but it will surely be the BEST BEAST!
Also, looks like the C6-01 and Galaxy S screen are the best performers on direct sunlight, HTC Desire HD looks really poor...
Didn't understand why C6-01 received "Very good" viewing angles instead of "Excelent" when it's clearly as good as Super AMOLED and noticeable better than N8. At least that is what pictures are showing...
I have a Desire HD, I find that it fits in your hand very nicely (similar to the 3gs, little wider) and have no complaints at all about the screen quality. Everything looks amazing, movies are simply put amazing and even in the sun its very usable. I went from an iPhone 4 (got stolen) and have to say that yes, overall the iPhone 4 display was better, I still prefer the larger htc screen, its more practical, the difference in hardware size is negligible and android/ sense really utilize the screen capablity, the simplistic look of the iPhone so boring.... Lets remember that practicality should rule the competition here. Amoled saves battery, has true blacks yet LCD has better resolution.
Ok..Where is Motorola Mobiles in this review??????????????
Anonymous, 30 Nov 2010Can someone confirm once and for all whether Nokia's AMOLED display tech (N8, E7) is or isn't ... moreno it hasn't
Nokia c6-01, still being the cheapest of the lot, is definitely going to give the other bigwigs a run for its money.
Congrats Samsung........
wave rocks ,,,,,,!!!!
qwerasdf, 11 Dec 2010Once again, exaggerated colors of AMOLED are not anything to be proud of. Just because your ey... moreerr yes it is, ive owned over 12 high-end phones and used countless phones over the last 2yrs and i personally think the retina display is second to none.
wouldnt swap the screen or phone for that matter for any other mobile phone on the market at the moment
Sreen quality is in compromise with screen Power comsumption... I can use my Desire only one day, Galaxy two days and Iphone three days. It is easy to made a Car wit 500 hp and comsuption 20l/100km, but 170hp with 5l is weryyy dificult!
guys my father has a samsung galaxy s. the screen is awesome! colors are really good and watching movies on that big screen is great. the only downside is that the resolution is bad. i can easily see the pixels. but overall it is great!
Well, Nokia's CBD actually surprised me (i own N8 so i dont really know how is C6-01's screen unlike i can find a friend who is an owner and compare, though i've seen HTC HD2, Galaxy S and iphone4's screens). HTC has the size factor there but it's bad, i've seen it with my own eyes.
Nokia needs to increase resolution - the last one step, and CBD is phenomenal.
Once again, exaggerated colors of AMOLED are not anything to be proud of. Just because your eyes like it just like people like "glossy" screens doesn't mean its realistic. There's a reason professional video editing and photo editing is one on IPS panels or even traditional CRTs. You want color depth and ACCURATE colors.
The iPhone 4 is IPS but has terrible color reproduction. The Motorola Droid series completely wins if you read Anandtech and other screen reviews.
Screen reviews based on sujectivity is just terrible. Most people will fail to notice the iPhone's narrow color gamut or AMOLED's exaggeration. They will love the iPhone's brightness and AMOLED's deep colors. But in the end it's not what you *REALLY* want.
LOL., 06 Dec 2010You guys always complain about Nokia's low resolution. WEll do you complain now after reading ... moreAnd on top of everything else, BCD actually uses full RGB against the RGBG pentile on samoled, so the actual resolution difference isn't that great.
Anonymous, 02 Dec 2010And trust me bro, u put the same movie on gal s compared to the ip4,
No question in my mind, ... moreOh really? So you would prefer watching a movie on the smaller screen with a worse contrast ratio and worse color saturation. Yea I can see which screen shines in this department... Iphone 4 would be better for text but don't kid yourself into thinking it'd beat the galaxy at a movie watching experience.
You need to get your eyes or your brain checked...
hey guys.......... i have used almost all of the contenders in this competition except HTC and Sony Ericsson.... all of the phones are good in display. but i was stopped looking other phones display when i saw Iphone 4 and i have it right now in my palm.. it is incredible. its response is unbelievable and i have no words to explain it. i think Iphone 4 is the most advanced cell phone on earth till date whatever anybody say it doesn't matter
You guys always complain about Nokia's low resolution. WEll do you complain now after reading these all pages? The nHD Clear Black is best in sunlight and Indoor and among the best in wieving anggle's. So in some way's it is better than iPhone 4. So don't complain Nokia doing bad with their display.
Anonymous, 04 Dec 2010disclosure: i own a samsung wave so with pentile, are samsung using 2 or 4 sub-pixels per p... moreThe Samsung samoled is RGBG Pentile so yes, 2 subpixels / pixel.
