had a play with one this morning..

        RUBBISH!!

typical slowness and jerkyness on the UI overlay..

        games take FOREVER to load..

        not impressed!!

And for those of you who think it can play ps2 games, it's not like what you think. It only means it has the power to play most ps2 games.
But those games will have to be ported as this phone clearly lacks L2 and R2 buttons and along with the joysticks it lacks L3 and R3.
Play a first person shooter without a joystick. You are doomed.

I don't quite know who the target customer are for this phone.

Hardcore or frequent gamers would definitely not buy this phone, well i wouldn't. Portable gaming device without a joystick is a joke. Even my psp has one less. And i'm sure gamers will be waiting for psp ngp due later this year with two joysticks, touchscreen, touchpad and as powerful as ps3.

Non gamers will not buy a gaming phone. Simple as that.

Maybe it's aimed at people who want to play during their commute to work or school. Well there's Angry birds for them.

I wonder if qwerty keys could be enabled to be used like the dedicated buttons of the xperia play, and bring a similar gaming experience.

qwerty devices are much more usefull and productive for most of the uses of smartphones - so if the qwerty buttons could bring a similiar gaming experience - like the one in the xperia play, qwerty devices would become the best all-in-one device, and they would be perfect for all uses - even gaming!

The overview should read 'Sony Ericsson XPERIA PLAY' and not 'Neo'.

                  Are they complaining??

This phone might be very popular to the Gaming Public, but theres no news about the batterylife of this phone yet,as Android phones seem to struggle with batterylife,so playing the Games might be a quicker way of draining this phones battery,so it might end up a High price phone to Run an Buy,Sony Ericsson should include 2 batteries in the pack to help buyers out

SE Xperia Play is complete disappointment.
Thanks for review, though. I wouldn't have found out otherwise :)

Hope to read SE Xperia Neo review some time soon.
