I bought the Xperia Arc in India yesterday. I went with the intention of getting the Midnight Blue but I was blown away with the way the Misty Silver looked. There's absolutely no sign of lag and display is really fantastic. One more thing, it's a real attention getter and looks way better in your hand than it can ever in a photo/video. Glad I got this and not an iPhone/HTC/Samsung/etc... Way to go Sony Ericsson.
Btw, it came with a screen protector, 8gb MicroSD, USB adapter and cable, HDMI cable and a really beautiful well made Leather Pouch. Fantastic!! All this and insurance for about 650USD(unlocked).
edit:: IT DOES HAVE AUTO BRIGHTNESS. It works when the brightness level is set about halfway. It doesn't auto adjust only when the brightness level is set at full.
i think v should respect every company, who contribute his max effort gives us a piece of mind and enjoy great gadgets ...i always respect sony b,coz sony introduces us many many great gadgets.. there is no wonder that apple use sony's cams.... i love sony... please keep going ..there are sony have a lot lot lot lot lot of number of customers who repect and love SONY
Just tried it out in the shop they had the Neo too.
Originally I was thinking about getting the Neo but I
am very impressed with the Arc and will be getting it.
Not bothered about dual core as I dont do gaming that much
sum, 04 Apr 2011ur rite. i read the article about battery life improvement. also its mainly GPU that is used f... moreMost games require some form of rendering engine to display what is happening in the game. In addition to this, there is some sort of artificial intelligence to control the computers controlled events in the game. With a single processor, both of these must function by switching between the two. This is not necessarily efficient. If the system had multiple processors, the rendering and AI could each run on a separate processor. This looks like an ideal situation for a multiple processor.
The problem is that the game, like most applications, is not designed to take advantage of the multiple processors. As a result, both the rendering and AI happen on a single processor leaving the second processor essentially unused. As a result, a multiple core device will not have any speed benefit. If the game is designed with multiple threads, then a dual-core processor would be advantageous over a single processor.
I've just ordered Arc! I don't worry about audio quality if it's like or better then my current X10. I use a lot the phone as walkman ;)
yay! GSMArena update the review about sound quality..
guess it turn out as what I've suspected, GSMArena used the "normal" equalizer rather than the "flat" equalizer..
but still the stereo crosstalk with the headphone readings will never change, so sad the stereo crosstalk is not as I expected..
how about including "clear stereo" in the next high end SE phone, SE?

Games!!!! its better to wait for NGP if sum1 likes hardcore gaming on a small device. with dual core i was expecting that we will get apps like Video Editing and Photoshop type of stuff that would be cool to have a 4inch device doing medicore PC work. may be in future they might make something to support dual core lineup !! still right now 1Q of 2011 is only focused on Dual core and the Games they will support !!!
Don't understand why GSMArena says that LG and Samsung moved "so much forward" given dual-core CPUs and Full HD video recording.
I had never seen a Full HD sample of a retail unit of a Samsung phone and we can see that LG Optimus 2x Full HD recording is really poor, use the GSMArena Video-compare tool and you will see that there's no more fine detail comparing with phone capable of 720p recording, not to mention that the audio recording is nothing compared to Nokia N8, for example (Why people forget about the audio?).
Also, no use for dual-core CPUs yet and no one knows if they will be really useful and if they will not drain battery power even more or make incompatible apps.
I mean, I can't really see all that as a move forward, it looks like a desperatelly and failed move because of the lack of creativity for innovation. I love you reviews GSMArena because they are unbiased, I think you should make such observations.

It is the GPU progress that makes the games running faster and smoother. The advantages of dual-core cpu will be noticeable when the device is running on multitasking, that being said is about 30% better than single core.

You say: •Display doesn’t have auto brightness control
I say: I does! It has no option for It but It´s there. Try it with a flashlite! It´s very smooth and gentle but It´s there!
Got the Xperia Arc in Silver. The OS is so perfectly tuned, its lag free at all times! They've never had a stable firmware for ages now. This time, the product can take on the big names in the smartphone world. The HDMI function is awesome too. You dont need a Sony Bravia to enjoy the remote function. It even works on a Samsung. Great Product. Try it and you will notice the Awesomeness in this product. Dont mix the past experience you've had. Things have changed in SE.
Just glad i did not buy the Galaxy with the Unstable Froyo!!
[deleted post]And Sammy boys like you never have Arc in your hand, so shut the big mouth if you don't have a arc.
I have both phones and even my Sammy with Super Amoled plus screen is no match for the Arc.
mirkosvw, 04 Apr 2011Well take Sony Ericsson XPERIA Neo'd buy a Neo ! You make them and.
