I did have the 9790 and I hated it; would constantly freeze, the lock button was too stiff and chipped off so I couldn't access my phone; eventually I dropped it in some pepsi and got the 9900 through my insurance; what an improvement! Build quality is so much better, sound quality, hasn't yet frozen or crashed on me.. I've had this phone over a month now and have no complaints; I use my phone constantly; text, call, email, music, bbm and my wifi is always on when at home, never once have I needed to charge it before going to bed at roughly 11, I'm up at 7.
my SE live with walkman is better than this phone..my friend bought it a weeks ago and she is amazed with my phone yesterday...
Not a great phone.
Freezes during usage of apps.
Has problem with promixity sensor, dials numbers, goes of mute, hold and what not..
Not a great battery life.
Most of the apps come with a price.
Overall not a great phone @ this price.
the price is too much as compared to my galaxy phones.......... do some thing about this price "$ 2000"...... how?
Abadi, 18 Jan 2012GSMarena.com plz post the test result of the BB 9900Test result for the Battery
RIM's finest hour....
sadly no duel core even though its as expensive as a Note or Rezound and no 4G...please RIM!...get more competitive!
BB os 7...excellent, but no victory over windows and android.
BB need a come back...but what ?
their sales are down 75%!
...they should introduce live wallpapers and speed up the release of BBX then launch it on duel core phones.
A huge waste of money...massive I tell you due to the fact you could get a phone with the same hardware for much cheaper...it lacks features nor has the ability to play hardcore gaming. but if you are a BB fan...then why not?
warning: I will be dead honest here...its hard for me to admit this but we must judge devices not because of name brands but rather features and hardware compared to price and price of other devices.
sigh...so here it goes.
considering what else you could get for the same price and cheaper not to mention better:
samsung GSII, note, S1, ACE, GY, GIO...im basically going to name the entire range of Galaxy devices...oh and the omnia 7
HTC rezound, sensation, titan, radar, trophy, desire, legend, hero, wild fire, G1, G2 Nexus 1 and every other HTC that has Android and windows 7.
LG: optimus pro, black, 2X, 3D
motorola: atrix and razor.
Nokia N8, N9
now for the positive things...finally!
Bold 9900...my favorite of all BB's
Better build quality than many devices I know.
Love the improvements to the OS.
its uncommon...i love that in a phone.
the UI looks great.
but never the less...well tried BB :)))
can't wait for BBX (10)
i hope blackberry can make a comeback. Because blackberry image is going downhill.
I didn't bought this phone cause of the bad autonomy. I was amazed why they released sutch a grait tool but a SE Vivaz has more autonomy.
Hey guys.I just got my bold 9900 a few days back and so far I'm enjoying it.I got a few questiong tho
-how do I turn off the auto-brightness?
-how do I get my phone to be a router?

Has also FM-radio and front cam and swopable sdhc slot. Vocie navigator GSM and free. BB is on its knees.
snoops, 17 Oct 2011for your info, the standard case that comes with the BB9900 is not a power saving case with th... moreI don't think you had your proximity sensor turned on properly because my case worked fine and would switch phone off when it was entered into it.
But the phone is a flop as a whole. an 8 year BB user I was gutted when I got this phone. Drop outs, freezes, crashes when browsing, touch screen crappy and not working sometimes and all within 3 days of ownership.
Processor is a little faster but what is the use if it crashes so often? Likewise with the browser.
Phone feels great in your hands and the larger size is a welcome addition from the 9780 but the trackpad is too close to the touch screen for people with big hands and you will be constantly fighting with the phone. After 3 days I returned the phone for a full refund....... I'm really sad actually as I can't bring myself to letting go of BB.
I just got my Bold 9900 3 days ago. This is my third BB. So far 9700 is still better when it comes to battery life.
Physically, I like 9900 because it's bigger, better screen resolution, thinner and lighter. However, I don't like the battery cover. I don't know why RIM opted for this cheap looking back cover.
Hardware issues: trackpad is not properly centered but it doesn't make the squeaky sound as complained by others. Mine however suffers from the mushy menu button (doesn't make a "click" sound compared to the back and end buttons). The call button is a bit soft as well but at least I can feel some tactile. The end button somehow produces a small creak when pressed. But I am not returning the phone for these hardware issues. I've had worse BB's before (9700 had wobbly trackpad, Torch had wobbly slider).
So far, I'm enjoying this phone.
Stringz87, 09 Oct 2011I am looking forward to getting this phone!
But to address battery issues that people have... morefor your info, the standard case that comes with the BB9900 is not a power saving case with the magnet.
was disappointed to find it is sold as an accessory.
I am looking forward to getting this phone!
But to address battery issues that people have been having,
I have had bberry for comming on 5 years now, and have found that the two best ways to preserve the battery is:
1) Use the leather holster. It has a magnet that turns off the screen, and my comparison with not using it, is about a days difference.
2) Don't charge for more than 4 hours. Now this is strange, my 9700 if left on charge overnight, only lasts a day. Left on charge for less than 4hours (and using the leather holster) 3- 4 days easy.
I hope this helps some of you!
