[deleted post]how many smartphones that are middle class have hdmi out? probably none. why is it important? what about mhl which only works on supported TVs?
the future are smartTVs, in which you can plugin a usb stick, mobile, digital camera,... and use them as on a pc.
so no need for hdmi or tv out, just micro-usb. also, theres dlna which is now reserved for expensive TVs, but hey, how many mobiles had gps in 2007? even the first iphone didnt have gps and now the cheapest android has one.
this phone has only one flaw, narrow screen. lack of apps is subjective. there are symbian apps not available on android that are, imho, very useful.
also, sound quality should have been better, but 90% of people wont see a difference. same with camera, fixed focus is better for people who dont know much about photography.
Anonymous, 01 Nov 2011Also, HDMI is a thing of the past, the future is NFC and DLNA which this cheap mid-range phone... moredlna is a certified fail. just like upnp.
[deleted post]Oh really ? So Nokia flashes a flagship, turns out to be crapzilla AND noone is justified to complain ? It's this atitude that Nokia always has had. And i pray t oGod they go bankrupt. Thats what you get for a fiasco like N97, for the fiasco that is the N9 and N8, and all of these so called flagship phones that cant even handle mid-range androids. Your sir are a fool for sucking up to Nokia after years of abuse from them. I have realized theyr crap with a capital C and moved on. You personally might just burn your money, fools like you dont deserve it. Just trow it away, its like buying a Nokia.
this phone is one of the uglyest phones nokia produced... big fail
RejZoR, 01 Nov 2011It's important so that camera knows what's in front and what's not. Plus, if it has fixed focu... moreI normally do all that with a fixed-focus camera, I just don't need to get that close. Weird isn't? :)
Back to the darkages, 01 Nov 2011LOL..you sad little monkeys....i currently have a Nokia N97, previously have had 6260 and N80.... moreAlso, HDMI is a thing of the past, the future is NFC and DLNA which this cheap mid-range phone supports, quite opposite of most high-end and expensive phones... You are a joke, and a bad one...

Plus, if it has fixed focus camera you can forget about scanning EAN or QR codes, product specs, schedules or other data that you could just snap with a camera. I haven't used a note app on my phone ever since i bought the first with auto focus camera. It's just so easy and convenient i can't imagine using a phone without auto focus.
LOL..you sad little monkeys....i currently have a Nokia N97, previously have had 6260 and N80. I've always had nokia, expect for this one alcatel one touch 512 and this SE P800 for a few weeks each. Nokai all the rest of the time. BUT the N97 has been a deal breaker from day one....complete utter epic fail of a phone. I dont want to ever fall for Nokia's scams...these so called flagship phones that turn out to be pure crap. I also dont want to see people fall for Nokia's scam. Nokia has become a second grade brand. Just accept it. How can you accept people to use tv out that's composite in 2011 ? When people are switching to 3d tvs. Just look at Nokia 600, canceled before selling one piece. Look at the news above. Nokia need to go back to making rubber boots.
nokia still in the stone age of mobile phones.
[deleted post]Anyone who used Symbian wouldn't touch the fragile, fruity fashion piece you call a "phone" with a 10foot pole.
Why are there so many haters here its just a phone and nokia 700 is a good buy for a low end smartphone it has everything a high end phone have except for the camera (which is good for everyday shots) and processor which symbian belle does not really need as its fast even on a 680 Mhz processor of N8. I really don't understand where all this hate is coming from if you don't like it then dont buy it and please don't expect it to behave like a $500 phone when it's only a $350 phone.
I use and love this phone.
Anonymous, 01 Nov 2011I don't understand why people cares so much about auto-focus on theses devices, the only probl... moreAgreed. Also the full focus is actually the better choice for most people. You just have to look at N8 pic reviews from Engadget to notice that even techies don't always know how to use focus.
With full focus it is lot harder to mess up shots. I would bet that giving N8 and 700 to 20 random people and asking them to shoot, the 700 would get better pics on average (emphasis on the word average :).
hey, I cannot find about real battery life in the review!?
otherwise, seems like a great middle range unit :-)
I don't understand why people cares so much about auto-focus on theses devices, the only problem is that you can't focus on anything closer than 50cm... I have a C6-01 and I can perfectly take shots of documents and everything... I don't need to get closer than 50cm... Most people only want autofocus to make lame "macro" shots of flowers... Seriuosly, auto-focus doesn't make so much difference on a phone, at least the camera behave faster and there's no way to take and out of focus picture, most people like it and most people are not geeks.
Also, I use a Canon 60D as my main camera but my phone still the camera that is on my pocket and with me every moment, and it doesn't disappoint, I know well the limitations of its small sensor and a auto-focus cameraphone wouldn't do any better.
Anonymous, 01 Nov 2011Why the shitty ARM11 with no GPU? I mean, come on. Even the original Motorola Droid's SoC was ... moreWho said there is no GPU? Seriously, stop making things up...
can anybody explain me why a non hot-swappable memory card is a disadvantage? Regards.
yes, i agree, i hate their fixed focus models. all the models with this camera are a waste. but people do not care. nokia c7 is one of the biggest hits.
Anonymous, 31 Oct 2011For me the phone is extremely good looking, I'm sure that what makes it ugly for you is NOKIA ... moreI'm with you, man. Totally agree. Symbian OS does not need a powerful processor to perform better then any other OS. That's the fact and if someone denies it he's kind of stupid...
As for me, I do not need a cartoon transition effect for the phone to perform a task. That is all too childish.
