Ya true that the IPS LCD it's better display than Super Amoled, but at the end of the day this Google nexus phone pure Vanilla Android that geeting updates straight from Google like Apple iPhone. Hope next Google nexus comes with IPS LCD displays or Super Amoled plus H.
To be honest IPS LCD better than Super Amoled in some spect , but Super Amoled HD it's the best when you watching a movie other than that IPS LCD still the best. Sorry if I said that don't get me wrong I own gs2 and galaxy nexus and I prefer the galaxy nexus over the gs2 cause it has better pixels density than gs2, but when it comes to better display after I compare it to my friend iPhone 4s retina display IPS LCD still better and does has more brightness than Super Amoled HD and Super Amoled Plus.
EarlZ, 14 Jan 2012The SAMOLED has no pureblacks, it shows a little lit black but its about a million times bette... moreWait, what? Are you crazy? Have you ever used an AMOLED screen before? The black is simply the pixels turned off, what means REAL BLACK. You see it even better in the dark but even in bright enviromments you can still see the extremely deep black because SAMOLED doesn't reflect too much light like some poor LCDs out there.
There's not a think like "trade the pure blacks for better brightness", AMOLED doesn't have backlight, it's not LCD. And WTH do you mean by visual artifacts AMOLED has? Seriously.
I think gsmarena has missed another hd screen hitting the us market the note!!!!! would love to throw that into the mix as well although its pentile and the screen size s nt comparable with the above two...
i have tested both and the lg screen is a lot better on brighnest and sharpnes olors acuracy han súper amoled, maybe with súper amoled plus would be a fa ir competition because i hace seen the súper plus and its amazing and ir somebody ask about te htc rezound its 720p but still looking like qhd resolution so te cleaner winner forma now is lg till galay brings up te súper amoled plus hd then de got a real screen fight!!!!!!!
EarlZ, 14 Jan 2012The SAMOLED has no pureblacks, it shows a little lit black but its about a million times bette... moreAmoleds do have pure black unless the black it is showing is not pure black. Most black pictures and movies are not pure black meaning Amoled is going to show you the level of black of what you are viewing. If it is truly black then you will see truly black and save tons and tons of battery since those pixels are literally off or dimmed extremely. Where did any review say it had inconsistent colors or brightness? The difference in extremely fine detail is not that noticeable unless its extremely fine detailed and you are closing looking for it. hy do you think they have to magnify the samples so highly? As for that there is already super Amoled plus and super Amoled plus HD is right around the corner.
Anonymous, 14 Jan 2012"How about adding the power hungry nature of the screen to the test..." OLED eats... morePlease don't come on here bashing and starting crap. So far this is a fairly problem free area so far. Amoled yes uses more to display white just as LCD uses more displaying white. Whats your point there? Also with normal and darker colors Amoled uses less meanng unless you only browse the internet or use white everything the Amoled in a whole is less power hungry than LCD.
The SAMOLED has no pureblacks, it shows a little lit black but its about a million times better than LCD though. But Id gladly trade that pure blacks for a more consistent screen brightness, color uniformity and no visual artifacts that SAMOLED has.
Anonymous, 14 Jan 2012"How about adding the power hungry nature of the screen to the test..." OLED eats... moreon the galaxy nexus in the browser u have an option to change the white background to black and the writing to white :)

OLED eats battery twice as fast on white background. It only saves battery on black. In browser test with websites mostly in white background, the SAMOLED always dies fast.
I believe in an overall Amoled will always be better. Nice to see LCD come to such improvements though. As far as being brighter... very few people would constantly have a display capable or 600nits or more at Max brightness. I think Amoleds seem brighter then they really are partially due to contrast and direct light. I can't wait to see the next Super Amoled Plus that's HD. May even be 3D. Also being the only display capable of true black is always going to be awesome! And contrary to some idiots burn in is not inevitable or happening at all in most cases. Though not everything is Amoled and its nice to see such good LCD screens bringing good competition.
it's all about the pure black. can't stand the lit blacks in lcds.
Now throw in the Reality Display on Xperia S/ ion and we have a proper fight!
Id like to see the Bavia engine take on these guys.
How about adding the power hungry nature of the screen to the test...
Wow LG's screen is so bright!
now if only we don't need to live with 25% brightness for 90% of the time, in order to conserve battery life..
One reason enough :
Battery on Galaxy is epic fail of 2011.
I am not a freak who wants HD screen and get 3 hours battery instead i prefer 7 hours battery and non HD screen.
