Looks like the writer has soft corner for Huaewei. It is actually made in china not ASSEMBLED/MANUFACTURED IN CHINA.
What is so great that writer has so many praises. It is same old stuff that others are producing with better brand value.
8 mp camera with 720p recording..huh.. samsung/LG/moto/htc have 1080p recording with same mp so surely it is a pseudo 8MP not real one.
512mb RAM, cmon guys let's talk about 1GB and more. POWERFUL 1900 mah battery.lol..i would need to rethink about using word powerful in my statements henceforth.
854x480 res. Let's talk about 960x540 or RAZR.
LCD in the age of LED. Great technological advancement.

This review sounds rushed. No Audio tests e.t.c. Perhaps the stigma you talked about still holds true.

I dont not agree with GSM Areana comment "it would definitely have a hard time dealing with its “Made in China” stigma."
Most mobiles are fully or partly made in china in any case.
If Huawei wanted to, it could seriously cause damage to the likes of Samsung for example which has a strained supply chain, some over rated products, and a massive consumer expectation.
You can buy a Chinese Android in Indonesia for $60 which was a high ranked mobile 2 years ago.
If feel Huawei are towards upper market and could really produce great value if it wanted to.

no native video call support?
oh well, I think I stick to those Korean-made droid phones, since they're the only droids that currently support native video calling...

Very good try for a mid-range device but the display is quite the let-down. Waiting to see how well the Ascend does, and of course its pricing.

Their Launcher is the near double of Go Launcher, and thats no bad thing, probably the best UI experience! I have it on my SE and runs like a dream! Love the heavy customisation!!

and i really hope that GSMarena will review the Huawei Ascend too.

It's really looks great.

btw, i think huawei deserve a better place in GSMarena (in term of linking), not bellow gigabyte, acer, dll, palm, blackbbery, vodafone, sagem, alcatell, etc.

Huawei is the BIGGEST phone equipment supplier as of 2010-2011. Huawei have been undercutting nokia price, and kicking nokia butt in lots of place.

so,
i think it's safe to assume that huawei will try all things they can do to be competitive in phone business.

which mean, 2012 will be a very interesting year, and we as the consumer will be benefited from this.
