@Zephyron Ya i agree x10 was a big disappointment. 2011 was a good comeback from Sony but their marketing is very poor. I live in india and i have never seen any ad from Sony whereas i see Samsung ads literally every 5 minutes on tv. They have everything but they just need to connect the pieces. The problem with Sony is they can always do better than what they do. They have the potential, talent and the resources. I have a Sony vaio and it is dual core but i am very happy with it and i dont see any reason for me to buy i7 processor. I hope this year Sony is aggressive. I dont like samsung but respect to all samsung fans. are you using Sony xperia s or are you a fan of Sony?

The XS camera and N8 camera are targeted at different audiences, that's what I believe
People who know their cameras better or are already into photography would no doubt go for the N8 and PV808 for their cameras for sure, especially when it comes to replacing PnS cameras altogether while offering more functions on board
Those who don't or aren't particular and will just pick the XS for its overall ease of use over the N8, as it's not just cameras we're talking about here, but the Android ecosystem and the Sony Entertainment Network ecosystem and the fact that the Xperia Phones we're built with DLNA and Media at their heart, acting as a wireless server or a wireless media access device in the palm of your hands, used to control virtually as much of the media in a wireless home as possible at its stock firmware
As far as we know right now -
XS = Entertainment access through SEN + Home wireless networking through Sony's 4 screen strategy
N8/PV808 = Camera centric phone
The way the 2 phones are built already target different audiences here based at their design principles, and there's no reason to deny that
Don't forget that a camera doesn't make a phone, nor does a camera make a person a better photographer... In the end, the user is ultimately the one in control

I dont even think a far objct is better than xperia s. Clearly n8 shot are superior in every aspect, although a little slow. All around camera phone maybe given to n8 if thats what exmor can deliver.
AnonD-252, 03 Mar 2012With only 640x360 screen it is easy to be "batteryefficient"!well i think that the n8s resolution is adequate. It depends if ur eyes have problem.

In the past your post's and reviews have been amazingly detailed and as unbiased as can be, however this preview/review is one of the worst i have ever see you guys do. If this was another website i would have just take it and moved along but I and alot of your viewers have become acustome to better service, it almost felt like you have the phone to look at for an hour and then wrote a review on it. No good detailed info was posted at all but rather recycled meterial thats been seen before. anyway I do love this website and cant wait for the full review of this phone
hope to see review about camera between sony xperia s versus nokia 808 pureview
aks316, 03 Mar 2012why cant Sony just launch a quad core phone like others? Well, what's the point of quad core phone?
Nice job with benchmark and camera, sony. Seems to be that it overcomes the sen xe in terms of performance( hope it will match with SGSII in real use). And camera, images are very detailed I think( a bit higher than n8 and iphone 4s but noisier),warm and fancy color.......... But I m still waiting for the P because of the aluminum back, hope its performance and camara are close to the S.
i used be SEfan till Xperia series, now this SONY phone also would not win my buying inspite Andriod & just with front camera if it still lack out the box smartdialing feature....around 100US$ mobile giving this so useful & handy feature & which makes the very purpose of any phone charm.....the dialing. All those hefty priced phones without this feature should be refrained from using tag "smartphone".

Sony Mobile software optimization so far surpass that of any of the other companies, and their ICS update for their present models and flagship will come before the launch of any of the other flagship phones, and the camera mounted on the Xperia S is better than the cameras mounted on any LG, HTC and Motorola phones
Apple and Samsung flagships mount camera units built by Sony
Your point is?

Their 2011 phones were amazing according to me and the best part they all will be upgraded to ics.. In my family we have like 6 arc and 1 ray.. I live in india and their is zero marketing by Sony for their phones.. I see samsung ads literally every 5min in all the categories they operate on.. i think people have this thinking that Samsung and Sony are same so why pay more for Sony specially in their tvs but the reality is Sony tvs are better than Samsung.. I hope they get their act together as Sony is an amazing brand and they have all the right resources and talent to be the best.. they have everything they just need to connect it.. apple is very good but i cant say the same about samsung.. in the end this will be my next phone or if sony launches any new phones by october.
Sony Mobile is going exactly the way that disbanded Sony Ericsson was going, attractive design + 1 step to out-date hardware and software.
aks316, 03 Mar 2012if Sony is soo smart why they have the lowest market share? Why is Samsung doing soo well in a... moreAs to why it didn't sell well, I've already mentioned it above, plus Apple and Samsung has very aggressive marketing, and Sony doesn't have a strong presence in the US for one, and for the most part, neither did most brands, so Apple had little in the way of dominating the US market until Samsung, then already a gargantuan company, penetrated the US with the Galaxy Android phones.
Koreans have alot to do with the present globes' smartphone situation as well, and when it comes to loyalty to one's country, they'd pretty much use a cellphone created in their own country.
Take a look at ads, commercials etc. Pretty much 'only' Samsung and Apple ads exist out there, and to a certain extent, Motorola in the US
I've never seen ads placed up anywhere when it comes to the other brands out there, not HTC, not Sony and not LG
They have a low market share due to the upper echelon resting on their laurels and ruining their phone reputation with the x10 series
The 2011 series were playing catch up no doubt, and the engineers did an extremely good job optimizing the 2011 line of phones, but the marketing dept. (depending on the part of the globe you're in) is neither as aggressive as Samsungs nor do they sing to the same tune.
Sony is recovering for the most part, which is a good thing, and they're making the right decisions now. All people need to do is to give them a chance to show that they can shine
Tech has long proven that more cores isn't better, it's how they're engineered. The xbox360 has a triple core CPU, yet Dual Core Core i5 laptop CPUs can run circles around it
Same things go for the numerics. Popularity is no measure for quality. If it were, the iPhone would be the best phone to do everything and anything with in the world right now, and we all know it isn't

Why is Samsung doing soo well in all the segments they operate on? dont get me wrong. I am using Sony's arc and its an awesome phone. I have no problems with it but why didnt it sell as much as Samsungs galaxy s2 even though arc was much cheaper. I am a big sony fan and almost all my products are Sony but it is disappointing to see their sales figures and loses. I hope they come up on top once again. For me Sony name has more value than apple or samsung. when i wanted to buy a phone my options were Sonys arc, htc sensation, galaxy s2 and iphone and i bought arc. Arc was 10000/-(200$) cheaper than s2 and sensation and 15000 (300$) cheaper than iphone. i dont regret my purchase.
Hi i think Sony is going the Vaio with their mobile division. They are giving consumer a good package as their Vaio laptops. I still think they should launch a qua core phone just for the specs and i still think Samsung & Apple going to rule 2012. Apple has made a name for themselves and no matter what anybody says having a apple product is cool as if now. Samsung is for someone who wants a powerful phone and android fans prefer samsung over any other brand right now. It will be difficult for Sony though its hard to believe becuase Sony was once the brand to beat and now it seems like they have to beat all the brands like apple, samsung, canon, lg, microsoft, Nintendo etc. Being a loyal sony fan i hope they regain their past glory.
aks316, 03 Mar 2012why cant Sony just launch a quad core phone like others? No reason to yet, not unless you wanna satisfy your e-penis
Sony will be launching phones with the Qualcomm S4 dual core design with the newer Cortex A15s, basically Dual Cores that are extremely power efficient, and has the horsepower to destroy present Quad Cores altogether
Sony isn't rushing into the battlefield with immatured tech
