Shabab Al Kuwait, 22 Apr 2012Sick Of Waiting For ICS In Kuwait... Any Idea When It Will Hit Kuwait? Me too waiting for ICS update for my S2 in Kuwait. I think Telecom companies in Kuwait purposely blocking the update for commercial reasons.

Bought mine last September in the Philippines, it's unlocked but still no software update, anyone know when it's coming for our unlocked phones?

In review some things are praised like tou got too much money for it! Bad thing...
Notification area is missing the most important thing it had before: date! Before, when you swipe it down, or just touch it, you get current date on the left side - much useful in many applications. Now you don't see it! Bummer...
Screen context menu is a big step back! It is much slower to find what you need in a list than on the grid... why would we otherwise have grid menus succeeded the list ones at the first place?
Also, task switcher is now a task switcher, before it was not... not sure what reviewer wanted to say.

Today i updated my GS2 (from macedonia) it works perfect i had the version 2.3.5 before and it was bad. But now its grate and fast (version 4.0.3).

Updated via keys this morning via my tmobile branded gs2. It was available on the evening chelsea beat barca 24/04/12
Why did they get rid of the list view on favourites? Without the list view you cannot swipe left or right nor can you bring up the quick menu to send an email or whatsapp by just simply clicking on the respective icon. This can be done via other means just not like the older version.
Why does switching off the background data now totally kill some apps from working like whatsapp for example meaning I have to open the app for messages to pop up. I understand that this is the new method but I would of liked an option in between the 2 extremes.
My battery life also seems to have taken a hit. Could be all my playing around but im not sure ics + TW is all its cracked up to be. There are many improvements so please dont get me wrong its just these things have affected me directly. It cant just be me

which version of android did the sensation xe in your benchmark tests run? not that anybody should care about those silly tests, but at least you should state what you're comparing. and the sgsII is not 'one of the first to be updated to ics', htc offered that update weeks ago...

i am from Bangladesh. Upgraded my s2 to ICS 4.0.3 last night, took the whole day to explore the phone with new firmware. Well, the major parts of the front-end remains the same. At the back end how ever there are some useful changes. Both video recording and video playback improved. The sound that comes out of the speaker has got one of the major improvements, the sound is now much crisper, louder and clear. Battery for me still almost the same, may be it got some tweaks, but to me it's not that noticeable yet, cause I would get 2 days straight out of mine before upgrading and after upgrading last night I disconnected the charger at 9 am today morning and it's almost 9:30 pm here in Dhaka and it still showing 76% of juice left on the battery and that too with almost heavy use cause I spent a lot of time with the phone today to explore the new firmware. So no battery issues for me. Only problem I am seeing which hasn't improved at all is the heating issue while using the EDGE network for browsing the internet or using Skype. It's not unbearable but thing's could have been better if it weren't there. But when I browse using WiFi everything is completely fine. There isn't a single automatic restarts or any kind of problem so far after the upgrade. Oh and I upgraded through Kies. So, anyone thinking of upgrading go ahead if kies is giving you the option to upgrade.

Well I have now got ICS. I initially had problems with it freezing half way through upgrade. Went to my GFs the next day who also has the SG2 and hers worked almost immediately. Maybe the time of day. Server overload. Who knows? So far, its been ok, maybe more excited by it than what it actually does, but for me so far it works ok. Haven't had no crash issues. All the features work great. You can see the apps have been upgraded to work in favour of ICS, so thats a nice touch. Still getting a feel of it, but for my usage, its been so far so good
