AnonD-2731, 09 May 2012I dont understand one thing about samsung lovers.
when apple introduced siri you said it was ... moreYes i would love to see that 2.
until now i haven't seen a phone with a better screen than the xperia s
This is not a new phone. It's a retyling of the S2, which is meant to boost sales and keep customers under the impression "there is something new they could/should buy".
As in the car industry, models undergo a restyling when the legions of fanboys can't ignore the model's faults anymore and as other manufactureres keep releasing restyled versions of old models themselves.
Samsung is cashing on customers who are gullible and being taken adavage of.
If this phone is a success, then, they will prove themselves right.
AnonD-2663, 10 May 2012But wait.... According to sangdroid fanboys this was supposed to have the following specs *... moreNo it was never officially supposed to have any of these. All of that lot were made up from internet rumours (a polite word for bullshit)and was never ever offered or even hinted at by Samsung themselves.
Luke, 10 May 2012Useless feature as I said.
1) it will suck the battery out
2) just imagine you're doing smth... more1) How would you know? Have you tested the battery yourself?
2) then look back again at the screen and watch it turn on by itself.
4) No I can't. Please elaborate.
5) What, aliens or the CIA are gonna watch your every move with the cam always on?
I say nice and innovative. Neither HTC nor Sony has ever done anything this cool about the features and interface. (Except maybe for Sola's floating touch display, which I find really useful)
It would be very useful to compare SGS 3 with one X in an entire review.
^_^, 10 May 2012How about smart stay? does any other smartphone nowdays excel in terms of multitasking? It's l... moreUseless feature as I said.
1) it will suck the battery out
2) just imagine you're doing smth and you want to glance the TV/phone/door/....
3) if I'm not going to use the device for more than 30sec I always put it into sleep mode by myself
4) can you imagine what happens in office environment with that feature on?
5) can you imagine all the data, that could be collected and sent out to somewhere, if frontcam is active all the time?
So as I said - nice but useless.
Perfectly & Innovatively a true tech-geek's smartphone !!
Dear S3, when are you coming to papa ?? Papa is eagerly waiting for you !!!
Samsung was really lazy with the camera modules this time
Luke, 10 May 2012and I double that. There's no point of having better hardware if there are no useful features,... moreHow about smart stay? does any other smartphone nowdays excel in terms of multitasking? It's like "Real Multitasking" but on a different level.
one thing i don't understand when galaxy skyrocket HD was to have ""SUPER AMOLED "PLUS" "" then y they launched s3 with pentile amoled
verysad, 09 May 2012Why Samsung is making these plastic toys? Other high-end phones are aluminium, kevlar or polyc... morePolycarbonates ARE plastics. So many of the disparaging comments I read about the shell of the S3 compares it's poor plastic body to the amazing plastic body of the One X. Do we even know what type of plastic is used in the S3 or are people just assuming because the actual type of plastic hasn't been announced yet that it's the cheapest available and that because the One X plastic is branded that it's the greatest thing since sliced bread? Personally I think the two phones look fine. Nothing special but not bad either. The way some people are singling out the S3 without enough details reeks of fanboyism.
GSMArena, do you have any Irish or Scots knocking about the office? If so, can the S3 understand them at all or are we shit out of luck again?
Wow, those benchmark tests shows how bad the Sensation XE struggles and that's the phone I have :(
Why does this phone have to be so large, sure it has a thinner bezel but at least it has expansion card slot. Now I can make a decision on this or the Xperia Ion
"It even beat the One X even though it should have been a bit slower (again, 4x Cortex-A9 @ 1.4GHz for the Galaxy S III vs. 4x Cortex-A9 @ 1.5GHz for the One X"
You guys really should do your research better. The One X (Tegra 3) only runs at 1.5GHz if a single core is active. With all 4 cores active the clockspeed drops to 1.3GHz, which perfectly explains the lead of the S3.
Anonymous, 10 May 2012What's more ironic is that a lot of people here also complains about how huge this device is. ... moreI agree with you there. Everyone is just making up lame excuses to bash the phone. Too big of a screen? The phone is of the same size as the S2 with a smaller bezel.
I take back everything I said about the S3. Though it may not be a huge leap in specs , the cool features and improvements they've made is more than enough reason for me to buy it. This phone is like a diamond in the rough.
What's more ironic is that a lot of people here also complains about how huge this device is. But when I browsed the first three pages of HTC One X review, not a single f* was given on how big the One X is. Now i'm starting to think that the comments here are just from some hired bums by HTC or Sony to talk bad about the SIII.
The phone looks decent in white most people will get phone covers so it really doesn't matter how it looks,it has better benchmark scores then the HTC one x so its the quickest phone out there and better HTML scores beating iPad 3 in that regard better browsing experience, the amoled display consumes less power so it will have a better power consumption and it has a larger battery so it more practical! The camera sensor has been improved capturing more details in pictures and videos and the pen tile nature of the display can't be noticed on day to day usage. It has a Mali 400 (mp) gpu compared to the s2 Mali 400 gpu the s3 offers 65% performance improvement to the gpu in the s2 due to different manufacturing process, the software also has cool features which are not found on any device due to touch wiz therefore it will undermine the HTC one X like how the s2 did to HTC sensation!
What is most amazing (and missing in the review) is message led. I was about to buy Motorola just in order to have it. Is it possible for you to describe (or, add to this good review) how it works in real use? Different colors for missing calls/sms/emails/... ? Frankly, I lost my hope to get this from Samsung, and now I do not care that much about design, the phone has everything I need (well, I would still prefer it to stay withing SGS II dimensions, 4" screen is sufficient for a phone, to my taste).
