what you see near the front camera is the proximity sensor and not a led notifications
But you can use 3rd party app like BLN that makes the screen blink when you receive email, sms or missed calls.
Great article GSM arena! Glad to see these kind of comparisones (you could do with iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s)...:)))
It made me decide to buy SGS II, but one thing you forgot to mention about the SGS III and that's the notification LED as one of the pros.
Shinigami, 26 May 2012I don't think spending few extra hundred dollars justifies the extra features you get with Gal... moreWould I be correct in assuming you are either A) a Vanilla Android fan, or B) a really annoyed tech fan that committed too soon and is now tied into a long contract with a handset that is not the bees knees anymore?
What most idiots here fail to realize is you can get Samsung's official battery pack for like thirty bux which will get you a 2000 mah battery and a much more better looking back cover. There battery issue solved.
P.S thanks GSMArena for this in depth comparison, after the GS3 review and the GS3 v HOX this is what I wanted to see.
Nitro, 24 May 2012Yeah, this pretty much hits the nail on the head. I have the original Galaxy S, and it is amaz... moreSpot on, I am also a GS1 user and have the GS3 on pre order. Love the Galaxy S range as they are the best Android phones available (probably smartphones altogether).
Even though I love my GS1 was always looking on a bit enviously at workmates who got the GS2(on my recommendation I may add!!!).
This time I have grasped the nettle financially speaking and opted for the 12 month contract option. Bit of wedge up front but safe in the knowledge my GS3 will still fetch a decent amount when it comes time to upgrade this time next year.
Can't wait till the 30th and get this Superphone in my mitts!
galaxy s2 overheat when u uses pdf to read books. and the battery just long about 2 hours. nobody says that kind of things. i need to read a lot and this es very bad.
To those people asking for their own customised and personal Handset X versus Handset Y test, have you any idea how much work is needed to write an article like this one?
If they were to do a Galaxy S versus S3 comparison for one person, can they do me one where they compare my old Nokia 3210 to a GS3,or the remote control to my Samsung Blueray player to a GS3,or even my DeLonghi microwave oven to a GS3? The point of this is that once they start doing requests, they have to do them for everyone, shame really there's only 24 hours in a day isn't it?
This test is very relevant because most high end smartphones will be on 2 year contracts,so people who got a GS2 a year or so ago when they came out won't yet be ready for an upgrade yet,so need to know if they're going to pay for a GS3 is it really worth it?
Fruitcake, 26 May 2012Still think the S2 is the better value smartphone,an the screen display is about the correct s... moreI'd have thought after all that's been written on this subject the facts about a mobile phone not always being better because it's got a bigger image sensor would have sunk in by now? Having another 4 million pixels doesn't make a handset better than one that's "only" got 8 million to start with, and it certainly doesn't make it better value for money.Trying to squeeze more pixels into a given space would normally mean smaller pixel sites,so less sensitive to light and so more noise on the images.
I say again well done to Samsung for having the common sense NOT to jump on the "more pixels sells more handsets" bandwagon that is now travelling at considerable speed, and with Nokia in the drivers seat it's likely to lose control and crash and burn pretty soon.It still baffles the hell out of me why people would chose (or not as the case may be)a mobile communications device based on the number of pixels on it's image sensor.
Cowz, 26 May 2012Why does this review not mention the fading blue pixels on the S2 as a Con? Why are fading bl... moreThe answer is the local density s3 "looks" Sharpie than s3 because of the local size. Its more on Optical illusion got it.
says who samsung s2 and s3 for geeks??, Baaaah, almost all peoples that using droid has the same iq like other peoles that used BB, Iphone ETC they only using FB, Twitter and Browse so what Geek??, almost 80% custom ROM developer come from East Europe, India, Vietnam and Indonesia and not from USA (the biggest android Market)android is only good in bullying on specs, who need dual and quad core in a phone?? in reality android always lag all the time and doesn't have a Real "Multitasking" Check it for ur self....
Samsung mobile vest your muny for galaxy 3 model baterry is low my phone is hang isuy & baterry backup is bad

I am perfect happy with the SGS 2
But my only comment about the S3 is that I use to look forward to see what Apple came out with but I really do not think the S3 can be bested this year.
I would not upgrade to the as I don't think I will gain much
Any other comment re Apple is negative so if you still have your microsims they fit Samsung also
[deleted post]are you retarded or simply dishonest? did you or did you not see the side by side comparison of the nexus, s2 and s3? I neither own a samsung or am a samsung fan but to say that the phone is too big is just plain stupid... I guess the s2 is too big too then? Oh!! I own a nokia N9.
