Sausage, 22 Jun 2012Only problem here is that Android has no developer like Nokia that can make cameras this great... moreits basically a matter of opinion. most people are disappointed in/hate nokia anyway.
also: SO MUCH FOR YOUR LUMIA's!!! WHERE ARE YOUR WP8 UPDATES NOW??????? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
nokia fanboy, 22 Jun 2012So where are the sammy fanboys huh?!?! I think they are crying now rofl... Poor sg3 doesn't su... morecamera is enough for you on a phone? then get a dslr and a black & white display phone. the phone sucks in actual performance and i'm pretty sure thats more important to more NORMAL humans any day. You are a fanboi of course so have fun with a phone that does nothing other than take photos that are better than other phones but are worse than actual decent cameras.
yeahhhh u suck, 21 Jun 2012808+android=hot sale by millionsOnly problem here is that Android has no developer like Nokia that can make cameras this great and Nokia won't go to that Android piece of sh*t cause WP8 will be way too much better and they will put PureView to it. WP7 is already better than Android so why won't the next WP be?
I will never buy a camera-phone like 808 for these following reasons:
1. Photo quality is not impressive. I prefer a small, pocket-able point-n-shoot, like canon s100, for taking every-day and night photos and videos. And save money for a good tripod or a prime lens for my dslr.
2. Camera does not have a retractable cap or any kind of built-in cover. To me it's important to somehow protect the lens. Of course, there are accessories that satisfy this need, but they require more money to throw for a basic feature like lens protection. (Nokia, remeber samsung innov8 built-in retractable lens cover?... d'oh)
3. I don't like Nokia Belle OS and it's compatible apps.
Of course, 808 may be the best camera-phone to date, but from my point of view it's not complete.
So where are the sammy fanboys huh?!?! I think they are crying now rofl... Poor sg3 doesn't support ISO 1600 a total loser lol...
The winner is NOKIA 808 PUREVIEW...
No wonder if other phones will make the same technology as nokia has...
When it comes to innovation, nokia is still NUMBER ONE!!!
Would've liked to see also 5mp and 3mp modes tested and compared to the 8mp mode output. Since getting the device myself, I've mainly shot at 5mp due to higher rate of oversampling and/or greater zoom range.
John, 22 Jun 2012In the previous unknown tests the SGS3 came out on top of the N8.that's because image size had been down scaled to 8MP (From 12MP) just use common sense
AnonD-54125, 21 Jun 2012My life would make more sense if I could just get a nokia lumia pureview running windows 8. A... moreDon't worry the Pureview technology will come to Nokia Windows Phone, Nokia confirmed it!
Thank You, GSMArena for the thorough review. I think, that it is the BIG achievement by it's own for the phone to be compared to such a great cameras. I am very impressed for the all low light performance. Even at ISO1600 I think it beats my current compact camera in image quality area. Of course, I still think, that my camera is still competitive in versatility, like in optical zoom area and so on, but I definitely am looking forward to buy this PHONE! :)
mariyus, 22 Jun 2012The only problem i have is that the chipset for windows phone 8 will support a maximum of 20 m... moreThe Nokia 808 PureView also contains a secondary specialized GPU for 41 MP image processing. Luckily Windows Phone 8 is bulit on Windows NT technologies, so Nokia can make own drivers to support the external module.
No_Matter, 22 Jun 2012N8 should have been among the compared devices, not the cr@p SGS3.In the previous unknown tests the SGS3 came out on top of the N8.
For the video there would be more downsampling at the default 720p setting so there would be even less noise. The Pen, and DSLR don't downsample all the pixels, they just use a portion of the sensor.
AnonD-5041, 22 Jun 2012We need to compare this to the Top Ten Point and Shoot Cameras!
1 Canon PowerShot G12
just add your fav device and see for yourself how a cameraphone works
Now this is impressive! Good job GSMA. Good job Nokia! Cant wait to get this hell of a monster cameraphone!!!! 808 FTW!
808 keeps impressing! I still think the 808 beats the Olympus, both in the still shot and the video... It even bests the Canon in the with-flash test!
The ISO test, however, shows the limitations; the GS3 is of course utter junk in this category, but so too must the 808 conceit defeat at even 400 ISO - the picture simply isn't passable...
What's with the bright light in the GS3 video?!? :D
AnonD-5041, 22 Jun 2012We need to compare this to the Top Ten Point and Shoot Cameras! 1 Canon PowerShot G12 ... moreThat's a great idea for a project you've gotten yourself there; looking forward to you posting the results...! :)
AnonD-44227, 22 Jun 2012The best compact camera is the Canon S100 and its only got a 1/1.7" sensor (a little larg... more...and it seems even the micro 3/4 gets to eat the dust; the Olympus is left behind in this test as well!
Nokia went for better resolved detail over excessive noise reduction in low-light situations as the latter can be achieved in post processing. Amazing contribution to the tech world; Nokia PV technology.
