Anonymous, 24 Jun 2012sgs3 indeed..
but what about sony xperia s which has 300 plus more ppi.?..can't it be compare... moreI never said S3 is the only best phone.
HTC One X is great phone also. Sony wise sorry, it is not bad, but not the best in Android market. It price always can let you pick something better. Sony always step behind on it hardware spec compare with others Android manufacture.
Even last year iPhone4S also better than this 808PV. 808PV only GREAT in one thing - the CAMERA.
AnonD-52738, 24 Jun 2012Your point just give a great point - Symbian is outdate, who want troublesome on programming. ... morethanks for the comments man..you really fired up the conversation..it gets really interesting..and im not sarcastic...im giving compliments to you...you are a user of SGS3 and I respect you for that...no one could convince you that this nokia phone is good enough...& i think you won since you have the SGS3 in your hands at the moment...cheers...btw, are you from china or philippines?....
If Symbian / Belle is that great, why majority abandon it? Because it was not..
Also why it still list as CONS by GSMARENA.
- Symbian ecosystem lags behind Android and iOS
- nHD resolution wears thin on the 4" screen
- The phone is quite bulky and heavy
- Relatively limited 3rd party software availability
why gsmarena not includes microsoft office in document editing review? quickoffice is below th par, unless you pay for it...:)
Alin, 24 Jun 2012Do you realy know what are you talking about, or you are just saying? Please give me the reaso... moreIf you think it can run at lower spec means it is great.
Then stop using any windows, go back to DOS environment, it can run in completely low end spec.
AnonD-52738, 24 Jun 2012S3 hardware part is well known, what the point I repeat here.
Everyone know it is the most ... moresgs3 indeed..
but what about sony xperia s which has 300 plus more ppi.?..can't it be compared with Sgs screen density?..
how about other phones with quadcores, aren't they on par with SGS3, with a difference of small margin in some test.& in real life situations, they are not that noticeable or a big deal...if they just have a difference of 1-5 secs...still you consider them fast...no one will lose since all these handsets could perform well..
But you could not see PV tech on any of these phones.....know what, nokia screen compliments it with CBD..highest contrast to date..25% higher than any other phones..which means sunlight legibility is superb...no one can beat that to the present...
Speed: 1.3ghz running belle is fast, equally comparable to quadcores..& could run PV tech...
N808 PV really has it all to some extent...it won't run away from competition... though it may not win, what matters is that it offers unique innovations...that no other phone could copy...
Winners do what they have to. Nokia should revalue its stand regarding Android, what a winner they would have if it was released with android
Nokia 808 PureView vs samsung galaxy S III
As expected Nokia 808 PureView has won, the new king arrived.
look at the ugly pic from samsung s3. lol
AnonD-52738, 24 Jun 2012I never talk on year 2016, this is somehow stupid talk on year 2016. It is another user talk. ... moreDo you realy know what are you talking about, or you are just saying? Please give me the reason why Belle has not a good core? Only if you think that it supported the most hardware innovations in mobile tech for years, you can conclude that is a very good OS. If you want more technical details about its kernel and why is mobiles is better that Android kernel, please search wikipedia at least! Symbian has a microkernel, while android a monolitic kernel, that's why it needed a lot of ram to run. Symbian was running on 28MB of ram just fine few years ago!
Alin, 24 Jun 2012What are you doing here? Are you bored with your S3 and want to find some fun??!!! Nobody here... moreYour point just give a great point - Symbian is outdate, who want troublesome on programming.
This is the big step why Symbian is being ignore and why Nokia sales keep dropping. Because it got nothing much new.
This 808PV is innovation on camera and thanks for this innovation, surely others will out similar in future, off course others manufacture will think on it size before release it.
808PV sure will have fans on it for those fancy on it camera quality, but some said it can replace whatever in current market and let Nokia be the top again's. I can assure this won't happen. ;)
AnonD-3575, 24 Jun 2012dode, your posting on a review you havent read.
read the review, gsmarena is very happy wit... moreWhich part I had said 808PV not perform well?
808PV is only 640x360 resolution and this 808PV is 1.3ghz, if with such CPU, it can't perform well, then NOKIA can really go bang wall! and Belle/Symbian is not a great OS but I don't think it is bad until can't perform smooth on such low resolution 640x360.
Anonymous, 24 Jun 2012But what's wrong with Belle OS if PV technology was successfully implemented into it??
i know... moreI never talk on year 2016, this is somehow stupid talk on year 2016. It is another user talk.
Why I need to use my phone until year 2016. No need 2016, in year 2013, a lot more gorgeous phone / tech will out.
Any phone is out-date within a year.
The problem of belle is it is not a great OS core.
AnonD-52738, 24 Jun 2012Lumia 900 won't destroy S3 in browsing.
True no quadcore games or apps, but not means it is... moredode, your posting on a review you havent read.
read the review, gsmarena is very happy with belle fp1 performance.
im not saying that s3 isnt fast, just that it needs a lot more power to be smooth as opposed to wp, ios and even symbian.
AnonD-52738, 24 Jun 2012If you really want to compare like this. I can only said 808PV is a middle range phone (be... moreWhat are you doing here? Are you bored with your S3 and want to find some fun??!!! Nobody here (a Nokia thread) want to hear your opinions about S3, we are different(=smart), we give credits to INNOVATION, we don't need quad-cores to play some games or to navigate the manus or homescreens of a phone! Even on my laptop I don't have 4 cores (just 2) because is JUST ENOUGH for daily use. For software development (BTW, I develop both for Android and Symbian and can tell you that for android is much easyer to develop but the performance of apps is not near native apps on Symbian, while Symbian developing is just for professional programmers, maybe that's why it did not got so much support from developers, because there are not so many pro engineers on C/C++ than on JAVA) I use an Ubuntu desktop with lots of ram and cores, of course.
AnonD-3575, 24 Jun 2012bah, nokia lumia 900 on lte destroys the s3 in browsing.
can you imagine what a dual core wp8... moreLumia 900 won't destroy S3 in browsing.
True no quadcore games or apps, but not means it is bad. In overall, performance anytime is better.
You can keep denying on it, you shall try use S3 to browse internet before you talk.
Belle (or any Symbian) is the worst in browsing experience. It can't even beat an old phone Google Nexus One that release few years ago.
Belle (and all Symbian) is a dead OS, as it implement badly, only those Nokia fans that never try others OS like iPhone OS or Android, or even Windows Phone, will keep continue said how good how great Symbian are.
AnonD-52738, 24 Jun 2012S3 hardware part is well known, what the point I repeat here.
Everyone know it is the most ... morebah, nokia lumia 900 on lte destroys the s3 in browsing.
can you imagine what a dual core wp8 phone will do?
i guess s3 will be remembered only as being slightly faster than s2 and slightly slower than s4. reading the gsmarena review, it seems all that power goes only on eye-candy, because there are no games and apps that utilize quad core.
again, its a powerful phone, but the way it delivers is far from stelar. other platforms on single core put this phone to shame
AnonD-52738, 24 Jun 2012Slimmer fit perfectly in pocket than bulky.
Also I never denied Nokia 808PV camera is fanta... moreBut what's wrong with Belle OS if PV technology was successfully implemented into it??
i know, the phone's processing power is enough for it.....Is it the UI, apps, or other hardware: screen, size, etc. that makes it unsuitable?...or perhaps the OS is deemed to die soon?...well, i think it was just an announcement that nokia made..but maybe they are not sure...2016 is still far far away..lol..things may change...& N808PV is a part of that change...still struggling...haha...anyway, we call it a healthy competition...
808PV will be much a better phone if only it is at least a 800x480 resolution (640x360 is too low for now).
And importantly don't use Belle OS. I know Nokia won't use Android, at least Nokia don't stop Meego, or at least tide this with Windows Phone.
Also, Nokia is design gorgeously in all LUMIA series, but this 808PV is just way too ugly the overall look, it don't even have LUMIA outstanding look.
Sausage, 24 Jun 2012Well, that sounds great but how many of those aren't in cheaper ICS devices? How many are grea... moreIf you really want to compare like this.
I can only said 808PV is a middle range phone (because the spec wise is not high end enough for now except the camera itself only) with FANTASTIC CAMERA.
Hardware part is nothing to compare and how could you compare with cheap ICS Android devide. Those low end Android device is something I also can't accept as it can power up the Android functionality and performance in proper.
S3 hardware part is well known, what the point I repeat here.
Everyone know it is the most faster phone at the moment. No phone is able to beat it performance at the moment. It even faster than Asus transformer prime tablet. Probably only HTC One XL that release in certain country only that beat certain score, but not all, browsing performance wise is a big tag different. Nothing is beatable at the moment for phone.
The camera is true same 8MP, but it is a well update from S II, well know it use same sensor in iPhone4s which manufacture by Sony. A good camera is not means high megapixel will be better. (Don't get me wrong here, Nokia is doing a great high MP and fantastic camera quality in this 808PV).
Even though the screen is only pentile, but is 1280x720 resolution with high ppi serving a great viewing, it is much better and nicer than S II. Higher resolution make everything perfect look and better for browsing. This is somewhat Nokia shall not continue using 640 x360 resolution in this new 808PV.
