Did GSMA just crash? I didn't get here for a while.
However, for those who complain about apps and Nokia store: it doesn't matter very much after all. I recently bought N9 when its price dropped under 300 euros. I looked for Symbian(Nokia 700) and several Android devices. I tested them and Android had no advantages over Belle. Only issue was Nokia store. Would there be enough apps for my needs? Then I tested MeeGo running N9 and it was just amazing. I bought it despite of even more pathetic store than Symbian has. And I have found there all I need and some extra fun also.
OS itself is what matters, not its ecosystem. And I found MeeGo to be better than anything else so far(a bit angry for Nokia and Elop). So if someone is looking for 808 but fears Symbian and Nokia store, buy and try, it won't dissapoint you. Ppi isn't too low, SGS2 has 206 ppi and it was good for 30 million peole. This is just a bit lower and nobodys eyes are better than then.

Even I prefer Symbian... its just hassle free out of the box:
1. no chance of viruses, threats, etc. while other OS'es have had them... Due to signing system of Symbian, it won't let you install unsafe apps.
2. Most must have features are already there on a Symbian handset.
Say what you want about symbian but not apps, not from android, not from iOS can offer you:
1. FM transmitter
2. 3G video call without clinging on Internet plan
3. Send/receive MMS without clinging on Internet plan
4. Hi quality offline maps
5. And of course, DSLR-like camera.
Sent from a Galaxy S3.
LazialeI , 24 Jun 2012Dude, you know what am doing with my Android SGSII (other than making calls and taking photos)... moreIt always interests me what these all important apps actually are? I always here mention of that being the reason for choosing an OS but what are people referring to specifically?
I use Symbian and am yet to come across something that I REALLY REALLY missed and wished I had an app for. Please someone enlighten me?
The problem is Microsoft have such a stranglehold over Nokia with this partnership they cannot PR this device to its death because they think it will harm M$/Lumia sales.
All you have to do is look at where they have already released the device in a very few select countries and without hardly making a whisper in the media.
LazialeI , 24 Jun 2012Dude, you know what am doing with my Android SGSII (other than making calls and taking photos)... morevery objective comment...the 2 devices can't really be compared..since each has pros & cons....but in my opinion, 808PV is for people with a more active lifestyle & useful hobbies.eg. going outdoors & take some good pictures to share;going to parties & events;making a movie project or if you have a youtube channel, etc...im not saying that other phones can't do these...but having a PV technology is a big difference..

I'm sure that my next phone will be a 808, 'cause I'm really appreciate the camera factor in a smartphone. And Nokia Belle has improved and are a very good OS.
The Hardware is very exceptional but Symbian is SHIT. End of Story.
AnonD-1082, 24 Jun 2012It's not just a Super phone, it's an Android killer. Watch the sales of the SGS 3 and it won't... moreWhoa! Hold your horses. I agree with you on most accounts but PV isn't an android killer, for now. Maybe a new streamlined device developed after the current model can. An increase in pixel density is most welcome and so with improvements on the looks department, i mean look at the gorgeous N9. I guess like the old adage goes you can't always get what you want. I think this is the smallest dimension they can get to given the sheer size of the.cam module.

SWYPE is available in Nokia Store for pretty much ALL Nokia touch devices.
The excellent audio sound quality just made me a buyer for a Nokia 808.
So very nice to see this resultl. I have Nokia 700 and a Nokia 701 so I do know that the speed of the phone is very good indeed in that area too..
MdN, 23 Jun 2012Did you also see the sunlight contrast ratio? I'd rather have this resolution and actually see... moreexactly thats the point which most of the users are reluctant to think about or u can say unable to think about. yes we do have app for everything but one is tired of switching ten apps to do ten works to one thing rather than all functionalities available in one place by default. out of the box android and ios are kind of handicapped with no sticks for help.talking about the basics VERY BASIC of mobile,u cant even delete multiple msgs, either u have to delete one by one or the entire conversation on android. having a multi media in hand with no basics of a mobile is better to be surrendered for a much purer multi media device atleast u wont get dissapointed of unavailibilty of common things.

Nokia will be back on top on the next quarter and Samsung will be going down. The SGS 3 is an over hyped and exloding toy and it's super ugly.

LazialeI , 24 Jun 2012Dude, you know what am doing with my Android SGSII (other than making calls and taking photos)... morenot to mention your s3 cannot use offline free gps, play music on any radio, shoot pictures in the dark, work on any network in the world etc. nor is there an app for that.
no matter how great the screen and the power of the s3 are, it doesnt stand out as a hardware innovation. sadly a lot of people expected more of it, but got a slightly improved s2
LazialeI , 24 Jun 2012Dude, you know what am doing with my Android SGSII (other than making calls and taking photos)... morea laptop will do all those things better, faster and easier,
if s3+ipad can replace a laptop for you, youre not a power user
not to mention 808 can do all that and more, its way more capable than s3, but not all people will use its potential. its not a mass market phone, its a pro phone, not for kids.
you cannot compare it to s3 or iphone. its too different
I have an ipad3 and an ipad1 that`s 132ppi vs 264ppi. And no matter how hard i stare at the screens i don't see significant difference in clarity and i can say that the former screen is as good as the later one. Don't say I'm blind - I have better than 20/20 vision. So my point is the 184 ppi screen on the 808 is not such a big deal unless maybe you're looking at your phone's screen under a magnifying lens.

Believe me. This not my OS is better than yours post! But this is reality, I only use my Android phone + ipad2 to get me everything I need! Thanks to manefactures and Developers combined . Belle is a good friendly stable OS for Facebook and Angry birds...there is NO way it will fulfill high end users .
