yeah yeah a lot of hope still the same old belle that the old n8 has(i m using)..nothing changed much in so called belle Fp1..had a lot of hopes on nokia...but now hopes are fading..hw stupid of such destroying such a powerful Symbian OS...
they should at least consider following things for there future updates...
>>should give better facebook integration not via cheap looking SOCIAL crap.
>>integrate hotspot tethering
>>better music player library
>>capability to create custom equalizer(that even old s60v5 has..feels like crap without this feature)..forced to buy a cheap crap looking equallizer app from store..it s*****.
>>how about capability of better new lock screen(many to chose from)
>>more phone memory(nokia really screwed n8 for that and they still want to install every f****** update recently office mobile to phone memory....)
Thanks for the great review.
Some words for the application store topic:
I have both an android phone and an N8. I have spent a lot of time and tried ca. 50 apps on android to reach the overall functionality what the N8 has out-of-the box. Now, the android phone is used only by my children to play. As a really SMART phone, the nokia/symbian Belle OS is light years forward to android.
Thank you GSMArena for a great review. you are one of the very few websites left that are worthy of following.
2x, 22 Jun 2012The only thing this phone has is a good camera, the rest sucks, not to mention it is one hell ... moreStill symbian is best friendly :-) os :-) everything working good on symbian :-) ! And about applications how much you using applications in one day ! Or how much you installed applications games in your devices ! 10! 50! 200! 500! I saw 65applications in galaxy s2 it was lags :-( how about 200applications/games
Because i am not "obsessed with software and apps" this phone will replace my E7 rather than any other phone available today.
The screen is just right for me being 4" and an amoled that makes things pop out at me even in sunlight.
I will also get back an FM transmitter, missed that with the E7 and of course the camera will be a slight upgrade.
well played nokia,if this is the last in a generation you sure are going out in style.
Gsmarena ! You missed in 'Key features'
microsoft office app
Hands down the best camera phone today but with an aging OS and with no future in app develepment, this will be a hard sell to all android and IOS fans. If the reason you're buying a phone is to shoot pics and videos, then this may be the phone for you.
First of all ! Thank you so much gsmarena teams for reviews nokia 808 :-) really i enjoyed reading :-) ! Everything for fine in nokia 808 :-) only missing some applications :-( nokia you should make your own application like 'facetime' for symbian :-)
Good to see Nokia still has the gutts to be innovative. I hope the Finns will make their comeback with devices like this... I can't help it, even though I moved over to Android, I still have a lot of sympathy for Nokia.
GO NOKIA!!! DO IT!!!
Man, this is ONE LONG REVIEW, I've been reading for about 45 minutes now.
As I see, the writer has gone in love with Symbian Belle and Nokia, it is great isn't it?
I know Nokia isn't dying yet, there is a lot to see from it yet.
One of the best reviews I read in a loooooong time . Looks like you were quite impressed with the 808 :) ;) It would really be a shame if Symbian got forgotten as it is a great and resource friendly platform (seeing what Finns are doing with it is a joy as it is the only phone that can process 41 MPix photos this quick-I know - the dedicated processor , but still I WOULD HATE TO SEE SYMBIAN GONE ) . It has INNOVATION written all over it :)
P.S. Loved the last line : "Madness? This is Nokia"
AnonD-1082, 22 Jun 2012The 808 PureView is a certified Android smart toy killer. I can't wait for the Lumia PureV... moreThe only thing this phone has is a good camera, the rest sucks, not to mention it is one hell of a brick.. 14mm thick, 170g and looks awfull.
'' Madness?? This is Nokia ''
Madness maybe can change a thing, 808 on its way to do it.
I hope even James bond will change his name to agent 808 n then the SKY would really FALL. hehehe, good luck 808, do your best, n good luck Nokia.
I will say this.. the phone isn't too good overall but the camera is amazing. I'm jealous of it. I mean, not of the additional bulk but the quality.. I hope other manufacturers take note. If Nokia comes up with those cameras, but in a slimmer body I might as well give one a try, since I'm a camera hog. Until then I'll have to stay with Android which, unfortunately is much more advanced.
