The battery is to small - I hope Nokia puts something serious into their next PureView phone.
When will the manufacturers learn that users want good battery life? I don't care if the phone is 1,5 mm thinner, I prefer better battery life to it. But HTC, Samsung, Nokia - they won't learn.
I am a very satisfied 808 user the best ever! Could anybody be so kind as to inform me how the slide show works up to now I was unable to switch it on.
this is the first Nokia phone ever that impressed me with one and only 1 feature... the "STILL CAMERA" performance. nothing else.. Stills are really awesome.... but the cam drains a huge amount f battery though .... At least a 2500 mAH battery was due for this... really poor on battery backup..
A few clarifications u ppl aren't aware of and making an illogical hell out of here...
1. NFC: Samsung D500E(way back in 2004) was the first NFC equipped mobile the world saw.
2. Symbian started off as a joint work between Sony Ericsson, Nokia, NTT DOCOMO and Symbian itself, with Symbian, NTT and SE being the top contributors to the OS arch. Wat Nokia did was only design its S60 UX before it bought Symbian in 2008. Symbian still continued to be an open source platform, but the interest of others started rapidly dropping. So, now Nokia became the major contributor to Symbian's code, since it then possessed the development resources for both the Symbian OS core and the user interface.
By 5 April 2011, Nokia released Symbian under a new license and converted to a proprietary model as opposed to an open source project.
And the present, Accenture is taking care of Symbian till 2016, Nokia has already washed its hands off and by 2016 Symbian would be a completely gone-off object....
mrlolftw, 18 Jul 2012This phone is absolutly stunning for what it is. Its got a 41mp camera which as shown, gives in... moreI agree. This is all you need. The Android so called ecosystem is over rated, and the iphone is too expensive. I dont waste my time playing games all day and dont use facebook or other other social network that runs your life. Great mobile and will get it.
maddy, 09 Jul 2012Samsung is Not Evan close of Nokia tech. And i think never 'll beOf course because Samsung is way higher than Nokia.
Nokia is compared with below average manufacture.
This phone is absolutly stunning for what it is. Its got a 41mp camera which as shown, gives incredible shots which opens up a whole field of opportunity with avid photographers. Its a phone that can text, call, check emails and browse facebook. For me, thats all i ever do on a phone. I dont play angry birds, because i have a PS3 at home along with a gaming rig. Phone games are a waste of time, and when you consider it, thats really the only thing that symbian doesnt have. The iPhone 4s is overpriced, and although it has a decent OS its absolutly nothing compared to the 808. Owning an android myself, i notice i barely ever use it for anything other then calling, texting, checking facebook, browsing the web and taking photos. Thats what a phone is for, not playing angry birds while your sitting on the toilet. The 808 in my opinion brings everything to the table, its got Nokias amazing build quality, its not 2mm thick so its impossible to hold in your hand (and who buys a phone cause its "sexy"?) This phone does everything you want it to do, and it just works. I for a fact, am starting to save for this very phone as i love the fact that you can just be walking along, listening to music on your phone, see an interesting sight, and snap it up, without it being in a grainy mess of a resolution like most days cellphones. Like i said, this opens up a world of opportunitys, and really, if your buying a phone for games, then your wasting your money as their not made for games. I honestly wonder why people consider the iOS devices "gaming handhelds" when their not. a gaming handheld is a device specidically made for gaming, like the DS or the Vita, not a phone. The 808 is not a gaming device. Symbian has very little games. But what the 808 DOES have,is Free navigation, a mindblowingly good camera, great sounding calling, a good music player, proper social integration with sites like Facebook and Twitter, along with a decent browser (although im told the free Opera browser is miles ahead of the stock Symbian one) The 808 is a proper, 'Smart'phone.
AnonD-1787, 13 Jul 2012Nokia was hit because it's good hardware and own software i.e. symbian. They dropped their own... moreWell said... Nokia should realize it and start supporting symbian... they already renamed symbian, that's good bcoz these blind need a change, but now Nokia needs to bring symbian with a bang like air os...
Android grows because of marketing..
s3 show off its bust mode shoot which Nokia never did during its 5800
Nokia was hit because it's good hardware and own software i.e. symbian. They dropped their own reliable software and tie up with microsoft, which was already not so successful. Now nokia have the same hardware quality but their software has much restrictions unlike android. So reason of failure is microsoft, not the nokia itself. Need more example? What was the need to announce that current lumia phones will not get windows 8 phone update, at the time when nokia just launched its flagship lumia 900 worldwide. So microsoft don't care about nokia. it sells its software to nokia as well its rivals samsung,lg etc. Nokia is loyal but microsoft is not.
If you dont like the phone and you wont buy the phone why comment on it and increase its fame? You will never ever find me commenting on apple product. Why? Overpriced shit for twelve year olds. Any tech will tell you that nokia belle is better than ios. The only, only detractor to this phone is nokia's decision to stop supporting symbian. I read on cnet that iphone 4s camera is better than pureview. I have never been on cnet or pcmag since. I stick to gsmarena, slashgear, laptopforum, toptenreviews etc. This phone does everything you want it to do right out of the box. There is no app for that.
Hi everyone. It's not longer possibile to select multiple files from the grid. I remember an app which was available for Nokia 5800 or similar devices with Symbian 5th edition called "The Pencil". This app allow you to select multiple files from the grid. Is it still exist? Is it compatibile with Symbian Belle and, in particular, with the 808? Or is there another app? Thanks a lot.
AnonD-52738, 07 Jul 20121) 808 have brightest display compare to SGS3. Means better visibility under sunlight. (S III ... moreYes you are right friend.
dont forget the new os which is bein launched.
its 4.1 jellybean.
41mp camera is the only factor whch may boost the sales of this 808
I am saving for either samsung galaxy note 2/Iphone 5,bt i duno whch 2 buy. M jst confusd. Both are releasing within 3 months.
AnonD-52738, 07 Jul 20121) 808 have brightest display compare to SGS3. Means better visibility under sunlight. (S III ... moreAgreed, its a fading OS but nokia has done its part to the mobile world. Nokia is the fist one to introduced new technology every year. And you guys will follow it. Nokia started with multi tasking, FM transmitter, voice control, bust photo mode, usb otg, nfc, 1000 nits display, dolby mobile, and now preview technology.... Samsung copied few successfully (otg, nfc, bust mode), few partially(multi tasking) few yet to be copied (fm transmitter, 1000 nits, preview). When Nokia was busy in introducing technology, Samsung was busy in just upgrading devices. From single core to dual core to quad core. S4 will have 8 core and you will say "wow 8 core". I saw the s3 ad. It shows 3 thing.
1) bust mode (5800 did this in 2008)
2) nfc sharing (700 did this last year)
3) eye taking (phone will sleep after you sleep. But phone is suppose to float in air after you sleep?)
Common guys invent something new, don't project applications..
