Its a perfect tab, android fans would love it especially. but my iPad 3 is an ultimate rocker.
Why didnt they just wait a little longer and fit it with Exynos 5?
We've already waited so long, and just one or two months more would have meant it could come with a much better CPU+GPU combo... and then maybe even higher resolution display thanks to the processing power.. Sure, the resolution isnt a big problem, but on a creative tool like this, you want to see your pics at a high resolution.
And why didnt they fit it with USB and HDMI standard ports?
The 30-pin connector, well USB-micro standard ports are pretty worthless on tablets for charing, as it would take forever to charge the device, but really, they could have had an charger only port + standard connectors instead.
But still, the Surface pro wont be here for quite some time, and the price will almost the doubble, so what other creative tablet am I suppose to get.
I like taking notes, and styluses that pretty much only emulate fingers are not the kind of tool for that.
I hope there will be a 7.7 inch version with amoled screen in the future, sure it might not be large enough for real note-taking its far off from standard notebooks (even 10-1 is a bit small), but at 7.7 inches you could easily take it to bed, and keep it close at all times, fit it in any bag and in some pockets on clothes as well... And while we're at it, in the future, with a 7.7 inch version, they could dump the 10.1 version, for for something about 11-12 inches instead, so that the really creative would go for the larger, the ones that mostly scribble notes to remember things can go for 7.7 and amoled. and the 5.5 (5.3) for the best on the go compromise.
In the meantime I will probably buy this, to wait for the Win 8 pro tablets to arrive.
Ravi, 14 Aug 2012I will investigate whether this can be used as a notebook replacement. If not I really don't ... moreWell most people tend to buy tablets as a status symbol or an unnecessary gadget. All they end up doing with them is playing video games and browsing the web; an experience which is far more enjoyable and faster on a "real" computer. Yes, offcourse they're not mobile, but that's what your phone is for (I mean, you have to carry it around with you anyway).
That's pretty much the reason I haven't contemplated purchasing a tablet; I couldn't think of one useful thing to do with it. But this is something else. As an architect I can say that this tablet is a dream come true; to have all my designs, sketches, autocad drawings and 3d models with me at all times and being able to sketch over them is simply the best thing that happened to me since..well ever.
Also I can see this replacing pen and paper as a note taking tool for students. Just hope the palm rejection works and that it's a bit more responsive than the original Note.
Jones, 12 Aug 2012Fully agree with you. At the end of the day, a tablet is a tablet. It can't replace a laptop. ... moreAgreed! A tablet is more handy and lighter than a laptop.
I'm getting the Samsung GT-N8000 because it can do Native 3G video and voice calls, SMS and MMS even on a remote BT connection paired mobile phone or ALL BY ITSELF. And because it is a tablet, too. I just cut one device off my things to bring along by 600gms.
Resolution-wise, I currently use laptops with 1280x800 resolution, same resolution as the Note 10.1, so no biggie there. I watch HD movies on 32"++ screen anyway if I'm too lazy to set up my projector on our 60" screen.
This is a very capable tablet that can probably never replace a full fledged computer. Maybe that's why they marketed it as such: a tablet that can do just a little bit more than the usual run of the mill tablet.
Now if only they will do something about the MSRP... ;-)
I will investigate whether this can be used as a notebook replacement. If not I really don't know why people buy this or the ipad. Obviously there is a massive market for a device for email and games, but I just cannot be bothered being tethered to one. Certainly a notebook replacement is great, but not sure if this will ever do that. I suppose not everyone stops after work and leaves their computer or tablet or mobile phone alone but they are addicted to using them even for pleasure. Me, I would rather not have a device grafted to my hand just because I am lazy. Of course, great device from Samsung ahead of Win 8 release. I think Android will suffer big time if MS gets Win 8 right. Apple, well who knows.

To me my entire net use became useless. And once I fixed the problem I returned to being jolly old me. The moral of the story is when you buy something you need to have the RIGHT to CHOOSE weither you want to use a certain technology or not, and not let someone in an office decide it for you, as he knows best...that mentality alone makes me cross apple of my list completely, and until they change their mentality I won't change mine, and god bless samsung and android for providing us with excellent alternatives!
Omg !!! A QUAD CORE !! I had to read it twice !! :)
Two 2GB OF SYSTEM RAM lol !!
Wow I'm impressed ... friggin hell the trolls will be out in force today trying their hardest to bag this BEAST OF A TABLET !! :)
CUE THE TROLLS !!

well i go t a nexs7 because what we do at the end? check email? surf the web? do we really need a tab to take pic and write notes with a pen?
and then more models come, and we always want a better screen,...and there is no end, when you think 50% of the world population live with 1$ a day, we should be ashamed....
SHAME ON YOU!
I am glad I did not buy tablets before. This is what I had been waiting for until today. Windows 8 tablet may be useful for native Office applications but nothing to lose in Android environment too. I will wait for a month so the extra premium intro price will have come down.
It's already out in UAE.the price around 500$ and it's cheaper than SGS3, HTC one x and galaxy tab 7.7?!
Eddie123, 10 Aug 2012This is where the biggest misconception starts and this why Apple makes so much money because ... moreWhat panel has Apple designed? Apple doesn't design ANYTHING. Please tell me one thing that Apple has invented themselves. Exactly! Nothing. Apple only puts together.
Apple R&D? ROFL!
The new Galaxy Note 10.1 is on my "to be bought the day it goes on sale in Australia" list.
IMHO... comparing this tablet to the new ipad as pointless as comparing a sports-car to a four wheel-drive. Yes, they can both drive down the highway and be parked on the street, but would you honestly expect to successfully take the sports-car off-road for a weekend camping in the mountains.
While the ipad has a higher resolution screen, the Note 10.1 has the digital stylus. Oh, and you can not honestly compare a nobby stylus to digital stylus... that is like considering doing surgery with a butter-knife rather than a scalpel.
I current use a HTC Flyer as my daily tablet to markup PDF documents using ezPDF Reader. A digital pen gives the capability to markup documents with an accuracy close enough to that of pen and paper... to use a nobby pen for this purpose is a joke.
So, I will be getting the Note 10.1 ASAP and purely because of the 10.1 screen combined with the digital stylus.
No high specs of any Samsung device can fool me anymore. My SGS2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be my last Galaxy devices. Why? because I have suffered so much for the updates. I had to flash my SGS2's ROM because of delayed updates. I can no longer use Kies. My Tab 10.1 has not seen an ICS update up to now. I am also considering to flash it to stock ROM. Never ever be fooled by high specs. There is more to a device than entry specs, blieve me, in the ling run guaranteed updates is one important criteria to make one invest in a device. Unless google forces manufacturers to install their own customisations just as add ons that can be installed and uninstalled by users (to allow for speedy ROM updates and give users the fredom to run stock firmware if they wish), I am moving to Windows devices.
Ok , I see that there are trolls on duty , so this comment is not for them, don't waste ur time.. For those who can just see the device for what it is and not the company that made it , can someone please tell me which is better , the new iPad or Galaxy note 10.1? iPad has a better screen and screen is one of the most important aspects on a tablet , but it also uses a lot of computing power to deliver that insane (albeit superb , awesome, ultraclear) resolution. In Note's favour however , we have a tablet with a quad core processor and Mali 400MP gpu which has to drive less than half( read horrible) of iPad's resolution(but better than the previous iPad's resolution and ppi). I really need a ruling on this one as I need a tab that is both a creation and also a consumption device.

All the videos from espn.com works fine with iPad, this is just what i already said, how im not surprised...
Espn also have site optimized for tablets, but desktop videos works too, so no problem there, no need for app.
Nba.tv app have all the videos and live too, so no problem there too, nba clearly thinked its better to do tablet app than mobile site. Its understable because their iPad app is great, very fast And easy to use.
If flash is so wanted, why those flash browsers isnt in top lists?
Trust me, you hardly see flash sites anymore which doesnt work with iPad. iv been owning this newest iPad since day one and never needed flash, still i need flash on my pc daily and use those same sites with iPad without flash. This is the thing which people who want flash doesnt understand. When you ask url they mostly say links which already works with iPad, just like you did :)
By the way without Steve we still would watch those laggy flash videos, you know every phone cant run flash smoothly, still even 2009 year old iPhone 3gs run every html5 video perfectly.
If you want change you need to something and Apple did, they released iPad (before iPad 28% of web videos worked with iOS now then number is over 80%)
Steve knew that flash is crap and it ruins user experience, Ballmer thinks same too and wp7 didnt ever get flash, then adobe admit it and now google admit and stopped providing flash.
Have had this device now for 4 days ( i work in a mobile electroninc store and got this from samsung to try out and field test untill release in our region) and it is worlds apart from anything else.
Beats my ipad (new one) on every test i can put to it, battery life is not on the 3`d day and running at 36% atm.
The stero speakers on the sides give good quality sound for such a small device.
The integrated s-pen functions are nice but not the reason you would buy it (unless of you are a student and want wacoomb board and tab in one ^^ ).
I also have the tab 2 at hand, and it is a very telling difference in performance from the dual 1, to the quad 1.4.
As far as tabs go, get this one, i will be selling my ipad to fund it as soon as it hit the stores.
it is such a nice blog , lot of intersting fact are to known by galaxy tab. it is ausum way of writing post
Anonymous, 09 Aug 2012You are wrong there, iOS has 6 flash browsers in appstore, if someone really need that. In my ... moreThose flash conversion apps are in the app store because people crave flash on ios. Unfortunately these apps fail miserably at attempting to emulate flash since they are slow, low quality and don't always work...
Understandably so adobe flash is on a decline, but it is still used on a mass number of websites.
For me I like to watch the latest sports highlights on sites like nba.com or espn.com (the apps are not sufficient enough)
THERE'S ALREADY DEVS OUT THERE THAT HAVE SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED FLASH PLAYER ON 4.1. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE HEARD BUT ANDROID ALLOWS YOU TO DOWNLOAD APKS RIGHT OFF THE BROWSERS. IOS DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO DOWNLOAD ANY THIRD PARTY SOURCES OF SUCH STRAIGHT FROM THE BROWSER.................
Until html5 is widely USED and fully practical, I'd like have the option of using flash. Something Apple is always ignorant about to their customers is the right of having choice.
