I guess there won't be a multi-tasking update now that the SW is out?

So much for solid, long lasting phone. The mobile phone of 90s-00s is expensive, limited in capability so their need to be durable, now, the flagship of 2 years ago is worth peanut.

Notes are pretty much revamped S series with larger displays and added digitalizer capabilities. The thing is these revamped flagships are not intended for the general masses, as the S series are. They're more a niche product due to their size and higher price point.

Anonymous, 04 Oct 2012And why is Samsung going backwards. Stylus is so last season.clearly you never use a galaxy note.
s-pen is not just a stylus. If you work in creative world, it helped a lot.
If you like you edit pictures, s-pen come really handy.

I seldom use the s-pen. But hey, that doesn,t stop me from buying and using galaxy note. Let the s-pen sits in its place and i still can use note as a normal smartphone with large screen.

Personally, i prefer s3. But i'll go for note2. Why? because of the s-pen.

I once heard this dialogue in a movie (forgot the title):
"Having a gun is Just like condoms. It's better you have one in your pocket but don't use it. Rather than don't have one when you are in need"

          LoL

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2012You know, Samsung releases this few months afterter the s3. Now that all s3 users already did ... mores3 and note2 are targeted at different user groups.

s3 is for those who want a good-looking smartphone.
While note2 is for those who want a smarphone with stylus capability (hence more creative and productive ability), but still possess good look.

It is a marketing strategy too. You don't want to release more than one flagship phones at the same time.

I love large screen because i can browse the net better.
I love large screen because it showed pictures and videos better.
I love large screen because i can see more when taking pictures.
I love large screen because i can see texts better when they are large.

Today, a cellphone is not only about making call and sending sms. But as an advance communication tool.
Sure, we still need basic cell phone for those who cannot afford fancier phone.

Cell phone has trends too. Back in 2002-2005 (i guess), people want smaller phone. And then came the "razor thin" trend. Then came the "touchscreen" trend. And now, we have "large display" trend

iphone fan, 05 Oct 2012But Nokia lumia 920 is much better device .Windows phone have a long way to prove worthiness. So far, the Windows 7 phones have been disappointments, with the notion that they will not have upgrades to the new OS. The fixed battery alone is a big turn-off.

You have a choice of going for smaller screens like 3" screens with the old TFT or even LCD types. So, to you 7" to 10" tablets aren't riduculously big because of what, they're tablets? And those have cellphone functions too! Again, stop thinking about the Note as being a regular cellphone.

Obviously you see no personal reason for a bigger screen usage. Your personal choice should not be a basis from discouraging what others really want and need. You figure it out what it is that we do with a capacitive-active S Pen integrated 5.5" HD Super AMOLED screen, with a powerful processor and GPU, and the convenience that it gives from what we pay the cellular companies for. Try doing those with a tiny screen!

I saw the display phone today. Ridiculous, ridiculous size.

Between late 90's to early 00's, every phone manufacturers that I know tried to make smaller(compact) and slimmer.
I swear one day I saw the cartoon on the newspaper that mocks those insanity of phone manufacturers by predicting the people will use a magnifying glass to type the text on the phone, because the keyboard is too small!

...and now they are in war which company makes a bigger screen?

I mean no one cares about pixel density before the media builds a massive hype about it, because the consumers know that 20' hd(1920x1080) monitors are less than 200 ppi.

When LG(I'm sure it was LG) released a full metal phone and I know any critics talk about this ambiguous "premium feeling" of material.

Those display size war, build quality war, pixel density war are absolutely beyond me. Why don't companies just focus on what we need - solid, longer lasting phone?

Nokia made dull and same looking phones over a decade but they were successful, because they made solid phones.

Now that all s3 users already did or upgrade with or survive provider, who is left to buy this, the rich? They should have released s3 and note same time so they target two audiences tithe same time and not one at a time months apart. I state this because I don't know how I will get the note 2 now :( even though I love my s3!!!!
