If SuperAmoled more superior than LCD then explain me
- white doesn't looks a real white and more dull.
- Black on SuperAmoled looks inky black not a pure black.
- Yellow on SuperAmoled looks orange
Nick, 01 Apr 2013Boy, the Sharp LCD TFT panel wipe the floor with your beloved SAMoled panel that's a fact!!! ... moreLOL, in witch ways does TFT LCD screen wipe floor over the Super AMOLED screen?
Doesn't matter who have made the screens, TFT LCD is TFT LCD no matter how many arguments you have. Yeah yeah, OMG, it's Sharp who have made the best screen to XPERIA Z, but that doesn't matter, because as long it's TFT LCD, it will be horrible compared to the other IPS LCD and Super AMOLED screens no matter what.
TFT LCD screens will always have horrible colors and viewing angles compared to IPS LCD and Super AMOLED.
I don't even believe you have tried any phones with a Super AMOLED screens at all.
I was thinking the same as you when i was buying the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10i phone. I though the screen was pretty good, but in reality it was horrible.
TMach, 01 Apr 2013This is like comparing a Nissan to a BMW. The Nissan may have all the bells and whistle under ... moreSorry bro, but your comparison is poor and incorrect. Sony = Nissan and Samsung = Hyundai. And that's it, more fancy on one side, more design on the other side, a nice motor there, a nice interior here but all in all they're pretty much the same thing.
So you like BMW cars? Well, Nokia, Apple and even HTC are more like it, but Sony definitely is not.
And the one the offers more than the.superficial here is definitely not SIV or XZ and sincerely, I wish that Nokia would build Android phones and that HTC wasn't so lame when it comes to reliability.
I kind of have to be frank here, the amoled is actually more superior than the LCD on xperia z.
However I DO have to say that GSM arena kinda underrated it. It's really a beauty to look at up close .Colors are pretty OK and viewing Angles are pretty good. But ill do add that the screen looks a bit too white.
But amoled with the RGB mode sounds really nice ,and I really like the fact that you can tone down or increase saturation as I please .

The only thing what you can do is bragging about the JDI panel how bad that is all over the site.
You are selective and not trust worthy, i'm done with you blabber.
[deleted post]It's still TFT witch makes your argument invalid.
TFT is old and outdated compared to IPS LCD and Super AMOLED screens. It's that simple.
And no, when i talk about the screen colors and viewing angles quality, i'm talking about my own experiences with TFT screens.
And yes, TFT LCD is still horrible no matter what compared to IPS LCD and Super AMOLED screens.
I don't know what you guys at gsmarena going on and on about the screen on Xperia Z. It is phenomenal and absolute one of its key selling points. I have played several videos and movies on the phone and the display is top notch.
ThaMan, 01 Apr 2013Plus one....I choose Xperia Z! I prefer my colours natural and not too sure about this review ... moreIf you know what Adobe RGB is, then you should know that the Adobe RGB color mode on the Galaxy S IV gives you as good colors as IPS LCD screens does.
But again, XPERIA Z only have a poor TFT LCD screen.
Nick, 01 Apr 2013Did you see in a microscope between the screen of SGS 4 and XZ? What does that have to do with the colors and viewing angles to do?
The colors and viewing angles are simply poor on the XPERIA Z screen. And it's noting we can do about it. The Galaxy S IV screen simply crushes the XPERIA Z's screen.
Sorry to say it, but it's the fact.
And again, if you think the Super AMOLED screen on the Galaxy S IV gives you to much colors, then use Adobe RGB mode witch gives you perfect colors.
So why would you choose XPERIA Z over Galaxy S IV when it gives as good colors as the IPS LCD screens does?
Is there really anything more than the water resist that makes you go for the XPERIA Z over the Galaxy S IV?
This is like comparing a Nissan to a BMW. The Nissan may have all the bells and whistle under the hood but those seeking more than the superficial will opt for the BMW......using that analogy, it is the BMW for me and the Xperia gets my vote!

I prefer my colours natural and not too sure about this review as my work colleagues who have the iP5 drool when they see the screen on my XZ. The iP5 reference is due to the fact that it is the benchmark most reviewers use on here and on PA. Go figure....

The failure many of you forget is that if the colors are not right, you can change the Screenmode from Standard to Dynamic, Natural and Movie.
And the fact that Galaxy S IV also have Adobe RGB color mode makes the argument that the colors on LCD screens are better totally invalid.
Super AMOLED is now the best screens around by a big margin.
The screen type that comes more closer (still not close enough at all to change my mind about screen quality) to the Super AMOLED screen in Galaxy S IV are the IPS LCD screens.
And to bad, XPERIA Z lacks that.
SGS 4 is actually a fail. Crappy screen, crappy loudspeaker, crappy battery life etc.. It's only advantage is HYPE for the mass.
Sammy definitely loses here, it's screen is far below quality , and build quality sucks.
Only one phone left.. htc one.
