Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. Sony Xperia Z Comments

Being outdoors alot I will choose the Z over the S4, both are great phones but the IP 57 certification is more important than the S4 performance over the Z. And I dont think there will be such an huge difference in performance anyway, the screen on the Z looks just fine and the viewing angles dont matter. If the S4 screen is anything like the S3 it is of little use outdoors.

I find the Xperia ZL lacking in the display department and many useful features that Samsung has are also absent in the ZL.
Apart from build quality, I find it hard to recommend Sony over Samsung to anyone.

there seems to be a BIG area that android or samsung have missed out... bigger screen yes, but what about adding the ability to fit MORE icons there???
AFAICS it is still 4 x 4 plus one row at the bottom...
there are launchers that will do this and more but I find it get in the way of the firmware updater... :(

Plastic bends under stress, glass shatters. I've seen plenty of smashed iPhone screens and not a single plastic screen broken.
That's not to say that plastic screens don't break of course!

All i can say is that I've had my SGS2 for over a year and it's been absolutely SOLID. The screen has the tiniest of scratches on it and the casing is only now showing signs of wear at the edges after multiple ins and outs of my pockets.
Nothing has actually failed.
The battery is still the original and lasts well over a day with spread out usage of WiFi, 3G, games/apps and talk time.
The "cheap" polycarb body is very light and although my work iPhone4 feels solid and of a "quality" build, the S2 doesn't feel like it's been made from recycled kids toys. I'm all for lightweight.
Going on this I can happily say I'm sure I'll be content with the build quality of the S4, however, I do think it lacks quite a way behind the style of the Xperia. The Sony looks sooooo much better and although it seems to be slightly behind in terms of features and capability, I guess you have to go for one or the other based on what you want out of your phone.

for my primary device, i'll buy an s4.
for my secondary device, i'm considering to buy an xz or a wp8 device from nokia or a note 3....

Watch out everyone, the Xperia Z has a major flaw, in my opinion. Okay, just taken delivery of the Xperia Z (C6603) and downloaded the latest firmware before starting to configure the phone. A time consuming task I don’t look forward to but now here's a funny thing. The first job I attempted to do was to set up the Wi-Fi connection to my wireless router at home... and this is when it all went wrong. Just like many people, I have my wireless router set so it doesn’t broadcast its SSID to every potential hacker in the neighbourhood. Unfortunately it turns out Sony decided not to make this phone compatible with hidden SSID’s. Yes, that’s right - the only smart phone in the top ten list that I can’t use at home, or my friends, or anywhere else where a Wi-Fi connection is set not to broadcast its SSID - unbelievable... and from Sony of all organisations!
