If you want lo... moreMost customer today use their phone, instagram and facebook as their photo album. This means there is not many people printing their pictures. So why do you need so many megapixels that will take up most of your memory. What to view your pictures on the smartphone with the sharpest screen.
GMW, 16 Aug 2013Agreed. The body is indeed beautiful. However, at the end of the day, it is a *phone* and func... moreI don't agree !! The S4 mini is not only lower in spec's than it's big brother, but lower in features. HTC provide a battery pack that charges your phone in your bag or pocket. As for memory, the One and One mini have usb on the go. Also memory cards are not safe and slow. But the One mini is a much nicer phone!!
the HTC One Mini is cheaper than the Samsung S4 Mini
at Carphone Warehouse £379.95 for the One Mini
and £389.95 for the Samsung S4 Mini
Agreed. The body is indeed beautiful. However, at the end of the day, it is a *phone* and functionality takes over. The advantages of a removable battery and SD card far outweigh a nice body. As for the iPhone not having anything removable, enough said.
Anonymous, 16 Aug 2013so how much is the ZR? do you know the price? and lets see the S4 has an option of duel SIM... moreWhat I call flagship specs are highly capable CPU which these two lack but Xperia ZR has, atleast 720p display which these two lack but Xperia ZR has it adn stellar battery life which Xperia ZR has.
TomTheNerd, 16 Aug 2013because people are still too ignorant to know that megapixels aren't everythingYeah, but its more ignorant to defend the cam of One Mini, its really horrible. If you want low megapixel then have a look at Xperia M, or even the more than year old Xperia U, cheap 5mp phones with no "UltraPixels" but beats the crap out of One Mini.
Didnt you see the social media downscaled samples in this review? It failed, how is it possible to take that bad photos with a 2013 midranger? Makes Nokia 520 look like a DSLR.
Given, i dont know what method was used for downscaling here, but probably just as good or better than GD (extension for apache/php and used by most social networks i believe). Additionally, if a poor downscaling method was used i expect the S4 Mini photos to be affected as well.
TomTheNerd, 16 Aug 2013the only reason samsung put the extra 0.5 gb of ram in was because touchwiz is so bloated, and... moreThen explain the low performance of Xperia S, Acro S, T, TX, V. No bloat, light skin, sux a lot.
GMW, 16 Aug 2013Completely agree. Am I the only person that keeps their expensive item in a case? This makes t... moreI just bought One Mini and leave S4 Mini on the store self, just because I can't differentiate the advantage of Amoled screen over LCD, the higher clock speed and removable battery? I never need that since I have an iPhone4. But my eyes notice a huge difference on the beauty and built material. That is it.
Yeah ZR should have also been compared with these two. I'm looking forward to ssee the comparison on gsmarena.
TomTheNerd, 16 Aug 2013because people are still too ignorant to know that megapixels aren't everythingIn terms of detail levels in good light, unfortunately megapixels are all-but everything, and you also need a good lens. And as HTC demonstrated with the HTC One and Titan II, bad resolution/bad lens give rubbish results.
TomTheNerd, 16 Aug 2013because people are still too ignorant to know that megapixels aren't everythingMaybe not, Tom, but you have to admit the pictures on the One Mini do look poor. It's like saying a 2MP camera will be better than am 8MP camera - because there are less pixels that will cause noise. It's when they cram *too many* pixels for the size of the sensor that you get problems. You still need a lot of pixels to give you the resolution. It is fair to say you may get better results with the One Mini in low-light. But if use the camera generally, looks like you will be disappointed.
Anonymous, 15 Aug 2013I get the S4 Mini display part in the Final Words, very low ppi, but lets not forget the 1GB R... morethe only reason samsung put the extra 0.5 gb of ram in was because touchwiz is so bloated, and they know it
Caveman, 15 Aug 2013The best mini of a flagship ever made is the xperia x10 mini.. >_agreed, my mum had that phone and it was very good!
Chebulla, 15 Aug 2013How do you suppose an 8MP camera on the S4 Mini is better than the superior UltraPixel on the ... morebecause people are still too ignorant to know that megapixels aren't everything
Anonymous, 15 Aug 2013xperia zr beats these two phones in terms of price, power, performance and everything. Its better... moreso how much is the ZR? do you know the price? and lets see
the S4 has an option of duel SIM, ZR doesnt - win to the S4
Loud speakers is louder on the HTC mini and S4, ZR loses
ZR is bigger and thicker than s4 or htc mini, ZR lose again
8gb internel for ZR, htc has 16gb internal, win to HTC
front camera is only VGA on the ZR, while HTC has 1.6mp and S4 mini has 1.9, so yes ZR loses...
S4 mini provides more features than the ZR - ZR loses
ZR is on android 4.1, while S4 mini and HTC mini are on 4.2 - ZR loses
knowing sony history in smartphone cameras, I wouldn't be surprised if the S4 8mp camera is better than ZR 13mp camera.
So please do some research before looking like a fool on here.
Xperia ZR has faster CPU, longer battery life and it's water-resistant yet with lower price. I'm waiting for a review between these two and ZR to decide what to buy.
Mikael, 15 Aug 2013With (high-grade)plastic body comes ergonomics, lightweight, durability and less heat dissipati... moreCompletely agree. Am I the only person that keeps their expensive item in a case? This makes the actual materials irrelevant. Also, I compared screen on S4 with S4 Mini (local carphonewarehouse) and you know what? There wasn't a huge difference which shows how good a screen the S4 Mini actually has even though only qHd. Anyway, the fact that you can change the battery and memory card is a major plus which rules out the HTC One Mini (BTW, it isn't all that 'mini'!!!)
