why gsmarena is not comparing nokia 1020 with samsung s4 zoom (16 mega pixels-xenon flash and 10 optical zoom) samsung s4 zoom way better than nokia 1020.
no name 100, 21 Sep 2013So you were there during the testing ? If not, how can you tell the colors are far from real ?... moreThe same things were shot in almost every other review,so yeah, they are more saturated, but many do like it.
The conclusion of this review was a fantastic salute to Nokia .. simply awesome !!
the hell? you want lumia 41mp vs xperia z1 20.7mp? thats huge different
GSMarena always play emotionally for nokia. i was moved by their words and bought the 808pureview ... yes its a camera master piece but failed as a phone. resale value was horrible. Will not be fooled again and buy a dead OS for the camera's sake. i would rather buy a digital camera better. Z1 is the answer and waiting for the re-review again by them
Does anyone have some clue how 1020 performs as a music player (in terms of audio quality)? Are there on the Web any reviews related to that issue?

If not, how can you tell the colors are far from real ? GSMArena did say they were slightly saturated but no where did they say it is bad. If it was, they certainly would've said that.
This is the last smartphone from Nokia. Come on, people. Pay your last respects buy buying this marvelous phone.
The colors of the sample photos says it all, this is as far from real life as it gets. All other flagship camera phones are much more true to life.
Waiting for the retest of Z1 anyway.
aww, this is the first time that I read a review and made me feel so sad. how did you do that GSMArena team?
the very last words of your last page, I don't know what to say.
Still, forever NOKIA and this crown jewel will be mine too as a remembrance from my beloved phone company.
Yeah, the last page made me very sad too.
But Nokia, from the dawn of your birth, till the dusk of your departure, I salute you.
I am really moved by the sentiments expressed in the last page.
My love affair with Nokia begins with 3310 and it ends with 720.
Time to say goodbye.
Anonymous, 21 Sep 2013Where is the resolution chart shot so I can compare it with Sony Xperia Z1? Was the sharpness ... moreCheck out the dpreview test samples if you think the resolution of the 5mp 1020 image is bad. It's simply amazing.
And no they are simply not equal at all. At 5mp the virtual pixel size of the 1020 is more than 3 microns (something around 3.2). It combines 7 pixels for that single pixel. The 808 at 5 mp shot at over 4 microns. The Z1 is no where near that level.
Oh my god - the last page. :( Damn you GSMArena! I'm gonna cry for a bit now.
Nokia is, and will always be my love.
And to GSMARENA, this review, with all it's emotions, was well worth the long wait.
I just wish the deal with Microsoft fails though.
I don't want to see Nokia as a Microsoft product. It's just too sad.
Anyways, great review.
Nokia always the greatest phone of all time..
can you guys compare lumia 1020 camera to the xperia z1 camera.. ?!?!
Second GSMArena review to bring tears to my eyes. First time it was the 808. Madness? This is Nokia.
Where is the resolution chart shot so I can compare it with Sony Xperia Z1? Was the sharpness so bad that it was omitted on purpose?
And to the one who said:
"Lumia 1020 5mp picture > Xperia z1 20mp picture"
Of course it is, because pixel binning reduces noise and improves color accuracy(but doesn't improve dynamic range at all).
I could say as well: Lumia 1020 5mp picture = Xperia z1 5mp picture, because the lens is the bottleneck on both, and both have similar sized pixels(1.12 and 1.17 microns, respectively).
