Yeh u do need a data cable. It cant be done using bluetooth as bluetooth uses the phones software to work, and the phones software will be erased in the process.
The question is about sound... I have uploaded couple of mp3 files to it, but when I play them few of them stops playing after different while... some at the very beginning, other after some 20-30sec. Others on the same hand play good. What could be the reason? Could it be different ways of mp3 compression, bitrates or maybe I need to upgrade phones firmware? Btw, there is one official firmware available on PlanetSagem, but I tried to install it via bluetooth usb and didn't succeed. Why? Do I really need a data cable to upgrade my phone? Please reply me if you know anything about it.
Sorry but the only way to install that upgrade is over USB data cabel :(
Thats how I understand the instructions
Hey Nikola D
Thanks for the update.
but how do you install it on you phone..?
i don't have a cabel only a card reader.
I was on planetsagem.com and there is firmware update for MyX8. Things that are fixed are: alowing video and other stuff to copy from phone memory to minisd and some, fixed some software bugs , and something more but I forgot :)
It can be downloaded from there and it is about 10 Mb
Do any of you know if this phone comes unlocked? I'd like to use it in the US. Thanks.
If there is a firmware update that'll be good news. The sound is great as far as I can tell, very loud, very clear. Surprised to hear otherwise. Very sluggish operation though, quite slow to switch functions...
in HongKong, it's 535 USD (without sd card)
in Thailand, it's 450 USD (with 128mb minisd card)
i really think this is one of the best phones i have seen. currently, i am using my x7. when my x8 comes out, i want to be the first to know about it. i am going to get me self one of it. i dont mind sagem giving me one free.......
the sound is poorer than Philips??
really? i thought my x-8's sound quality is the best in the market if motorola e398+e680 don't exist
Had the X8 for about a month now. Just wanted to say a few things about it. I just love the screen and the picture quality. There are however some snags: Sound and voice quality is poorer than my old phone (Philips. When I change battery, I have to reset the clock. Also appointment calendar is reset. WAP hangs a lot - have to take out battery to get phone working again.
Think most of the snags are bugs in the software that might be fixed.
anyway, i heard that sagem is making a firmware which enables the phone to transfer files into the memory card.
Hi, I've done a review of this handset at http://enorgis.com/index.php?p=4529 if you're interested.
I sagem going to make a new firmware version of the my-x8.... there is a lot of problems with the software... can it be upgrated..?
like Siemens SX1... or other smartphones..
myx-8 is the best because i ve it before but fortunate it was stolen from me. pls do send me another set. i need it urgent
patronized me ok
my kingsley osarenotor
i own the phone for three weeks now and i really like it, because of the design, the technical features and especially the screen.
but there are a few things i am disappointed about and i mention them here with hopes that either anybody has already solved the problems or sagem will notice them...
JAVA: i did not manage to install a java-application. tried it with bluetooth, usb-cable and via wap-download. seems to be impossible, but an email-client is very important to me....anybody with more luck??
MP3-Player: Very bad user-interface. plays only the playlist you´ve created with a thousand clicks;). if you click on e.g. the first track in a folder on your sd-card it repeats this track instead of jumping to the next file at the end. any change would be a big improvement. no multitasking...
CONNECTION: although this phone looks like a design-copy of a mixture of apple powerbooks and the ipod it does not work well with mac-computers. you can send and recieve images, mp3s and sometimes (?!) vcf-cards via bluetooth, but syncing, ftp-connection etc. seems to be impossible (also with usb-cabel. even with my pc i´m not getting a comfortable connection and i had to use wellphone and imagetransfer with usb-cable....
these are my main concerns. if anybody has anymore problems let´s send a fax to sagem (even the email-form on their website doesn´t work for me ;)))
Dear Sagem Company,
I really love the way the phone is been design for man look and use.
Well u people should try and improve ur product more and more.
ok short review,
the handset is definitely not too big as a lot of people say. it fits my hand perfectly and the keypad, to me is really convenient. the joystick is where the problem is. it's too small and too difficult to use. takes a lot of time to get used to it.
Visual and Sound:
the screen is perfect, comparable to Sharp's and the sound, too is great.
the sound remains in good quality at the highest volume level.
As i said before, i've encountered some problem with midi files since it's not as sonorous as it should. but that's not the problem since the mp3 files are fantastic.
Video & Audio player:
i don't know why but sometimes, when i'm watching the video, the phone switched off and on itself.
the good point for the video player is that you can watch it in full screen which i think is really nice.
For the audio player, it doesn't work well. u can't multi-task and u can't leave the player for too long, coz it will stop and go back to the main menu.
personally, i think the camera is good enough. pictures get blurry easily if your hand is not stead as a rock. but usually you'll get decent pictures from the phone.
flash is really useful~
macro mode for my x-9 would be nice =)
in the editor you'll find,
zoom, adjustment, emboss, negative, grey scale, add mark (useless), contrast, sharpen, blur, sepia, shape, brightness, solarize and saturation.
i don't play a lot with it so can't comment on anything
you cannot zoom when you are recording which is a pity but the good point is that you can record it until the memory runs out!
-the phone lags a lot. it's really really slow but it's forgivable since the interface is so pretty~
-the phone gets switched on too easily. all you have to do is press (no need to hold) the power button.
-your friends will be jealous of you~
i'll give it 8.3/10
