Today, Samsung announced the Exynos W1000 chipset, which is set to power the upcoming Galaxy Watch7 and Watch7 Ultra. Samsung decided to get this announcement out of the way before the July 10 Unpacked event.

The Exynos W1000 is a leap over the 5nm W930, being built on Samsung's latest 3nm GAA process with fan-out panel-level packaging (FOPLP), achieving a small form factor and better heat dissipation.

The chip uses the system in a package (SiP) method to integrate the power management circuit and uses an embedded package on package (ePoP) to mount the DRAM and the NAND flash memory onto the SoC.

The CPU has a Cortex-A78 big core maxing out at 1.6GHz, and four Cortex-A55s running at up to 1.5GHz. A Mali-G68 MP2 handles graphics with support for up to 640x640px displays. There's an integrated 32GB storage.

Samsung says the Exynos W1000 is nearly 3x faster at opening apps than the W930.

The new chip also brings 2.5D always-on display with enhanced watch faces and rich details.
