D 500 is lack of MMC. It's more important to hv MMC than MP3 or color 256[TFT ].Pls reconsider well to get it before u will be disappointed deeply.

Hi there all you other D500 users. Just one quick question. How long do other D500 users battery last? Mine only lasts about 2-3 days as i am always playing with the mp3 player, camera and surfing the wap sites. When i first got the phone i flattened the battery completely then charged it for 16hrs then when it went flat i charged it for a further 16 then flat then a further 16hrs. Please get back to me about this asap.

I don't think there is a way to stop the ascending tone. I too was annoyed by it, but I've already grown to get used to it. Its not so bad after a while.

D500 is a great phone. But why does the ringtone start low and then goes suddenly higher after about 2 seconds from ringing??

Can somebody help explain? This happens even when I choose vibrate+melody.

For nim

well, in my opinion, if u buy a nokia 6230, u get an average phone becos of the way it looks. even though, its got features on par with the D500, i feel 6230 lacks a lot in terms of design statement. the only thing which the 6230 better the D500 is that its got an expansion slot but i personally feel that the int memory of 96mb which the d500 is offering is good enough. Besides, memory cards aren't cheap anyway. Secondly, the d500 has got the better screen than the 6230 (262k colors against 65k colors).

But the conclusion is, DON'T get the D500. (The last thing i want is everyone on the street having a D500)

Excellent phone. One thing that is bugging me though is the games. I've some here which worked fine on the T610 but when I try to upload them to the D500 I get an invalid file error. They're JAR files so it shouldn't be a java issue. I begrudge paying silly money for games and ringtones.

Any ideas?

I got my D500 last week and I can only find one problem with it: you cant change the message alert tone or the slidetone, would have been a nice feature to have, otherwise a great phone.

My suggestion to T.T.

Install the software from Samsung website then activate the infra red on your D500 then put it on your computer. Then when it has the icon on the bottom right saying D500 in range open up the Easy Studio 2.0 software and the phone should be connected down the bottom of that program.

For TT

I haven't had any problems with using infra red and easy studio. I downloaded it from

For Josh.

This phone hs been available since the 23rd Of March here in Australia. So if you go to your nearest phone store they will be able to give you a price and sell you one. But better be quick as the first shipment of phones is likely to go as there has been a huge demand for this phone.

Just got this phone last Monday, and love it! I've been taking pictures, and actually used the camcorder to film the highlights of a fishing trip I went on. It works marvelously. I have the black version, I've handled/seen the silver version, but the black is just much nicer. Makes it look more elegant. The silver is cool too, but it kind of takes away from what the D500 is, elegant. I've seen a dark grey/graphite color too, but that's way more rare to come across. I had the option to buy one, but they never had the stock in, but one of the shop owners had it. It's best to use USB to transfer things from PC to phone, or vise versa. The bluetooth works fine linking to PC, but USB is much quicker. The Bluetooth worked fine for me too when I transferred a 256kb video to my cousins s700a. Worked like a charm! Battery holds up very well. Max I've ever lost is one bar, and that with using camera and camcorder on my fishing trip. Reception is better than I though on Cingular, but I'm in California, so that may be why. Ascending ring tone was annying, but now I'm used to it. No way to turn it off. Overall, I'm very happy with the phone :D

What do you think, how is the price of D500 compared to Nokia 6230i?

Any advice as to which phone should I get?

Thanks.

This is unmistakably the best phone around now! it has got all the functions one needs and most importantly, no other equivalent phone comes within touching distance in terms of size. For those guys complaining about the vibration, try checking out the vibrating ringtones! Overall, i am very satisfied but not until i get my hands on the new D600.

I downloaded the software for the D500 ("Easy Studio v2.0"), but I have a very big problem: it just can't open the infrared port (so it can't see the phone) and it stays offline! I still have the "Easy GPRS" software that I got for my old D410 and that one sees my phone and it tries to load the data. But the "Easy Studio" does not "see" the phone! What can I do??????????????? Please help!
