I have had my samsung D500 for 3 months, and for people wondering, the camera is great, although it takes a few seconds for it to focus. The second thing people are wondering is about mem cards - there is no slot for them. Third thing, USB connector - there is one, it's on the right side above the camera button under a slide cover. There is supposidly a cable out for it but it is scarce. The fourth thing, is that the video recording - it works, but isn't as sooth as a S700, and although some people don't know, it does support vid downloads. Picture qualiy - it's about as good as a cheap / midrange digi cam, and for people who complain about the S700 - it's about the same, just the d500 takes longer to take a picture. There are only two negative things about this phone - one is that it has no radio (S700 does) and when using the MP3 Player, it doesn't seem to support some types of bitrates, although 128kbps is fine and sounds good too. Two last things about thos phone - the screen is the best i've ever seen on any mobile phone, although it's not as high res as a S700's it is just better and the last thing is about bluetooth - It works with everything except using a headset and voice dialling.
how much does it cost in Germany? I'm from another country but i want to by it from there.
the samsung website says " Synchronize your data with the D500 in seconds. Bluetooth, USB and SyncML DS make it easy to connect to other phones" so i guess there is a way to use usb
If I wanted to watch a video, such as an episode of friends, would I be able to send it to the phone? If so, would I have to use a certain file format such as mp4? Also, what software is available for converting the file format of a DVD or other digital video formats?
does the D5oo have a USB port.....if so where is it located..and what can it be used for.....and also can u get extra storage MB's in the mem..ie flash card...or sumthing...anyway...
(To the people asking about length of video time) You can unlimit your record time by simply changing the size under 'record video' settings. Recording mode-Normal. Size-QCIF(176X144).
First impressions is it's a decent little phone. The delay in taking a pic is a pain though. It's the best part of a second between pressing and the pic being taken.
Also I can't find if you can assign tones to contacts. Hopefully you can. I read somewhere that it doesn't have voice dial either which is a pain.
On a plus side it syncs with my IR and I've managed to upload a video to it. If you do this though get a 3GP converter. The files are so much smaller and work better.
This is the great!! JUst great!! nothing elso to say about it
GREAT camera! great MP3! great design!!
dont hasitate to buy this phone. This is the best phone in the whole world
for the guy who says the sonyericsson is better than this phone .... SORRY... U R SO DAMN WRONG .. this phone has a much much much better camera than the S700..... in the light or in the dark !!! no comparison and if u dont believe me here is a comparison made by the best review website on the net ... www.mobile-review.com .... and the video is limited with space .... and for the aatached stereo thing... if u dont want to use then dont ... no one is holding a gun to ur head.... but it is an extra cool thing !
this phone is much much better than the stupid S700 !!!! much cooler menu... better camera ... better screen better sound and OFCOURSE BETTER DESIGN...... AND....
i say excellent work samsung and i cant wait for the E720 .... my best shape since i loved the E715 and with all the options in this phone.....
keep up the good work samsung
You can actually watch the video on the phone can't you? i read that it doesn't have video playback, but does that mean just for downladed videos? And what is the maximum length of video clip... before i buy this phone!
I purchased the phone thinking that it was a small 1.3 mega pixel camera. It is. But, if you're comparing it to the Sony-Ericsson S700i - it's weigh below par. The picture quality on the SGH-D500 is very amateurish. Even at high resolution photo settings. SOny have way more experience in Digital Photography than samsung.
Also, you CANNOT (REGARDLESS OF WHAT ANYONE SAYS) synchronise this phone with outlook. It won't work. Synchronisation, for me, is defined as the exchange of data between one system and another. You'll have to either enter a large part of it manually, or do some kind of manipulation. The samsung D500 sorts all the names by LAST NAME. Most phones sort by FIRST name. It shouldnt be concerned with LAST or FIRST, but you'll have to see. You purchase the phone over the s900 as its way smaller, but then they give u this silly speaker thing to add on? Why? U dont wanna carry around with u bulk??
u jokers r mad... does any1 of u wanna pass me some dollars aswel??? lol
If the choice were between the Gx30i and the D500, what would one prefer? I am debating the choice. One thing about the GX30i is the limited (100k) blue tooth data transfer that I am concerned about? Had trouble moving my phone book. Any one have issues like that? Any help would be great.
Is it already available in the Philippines? If so, how much does it cost? Somebody answer me pls? ^_^
To answer my own questions.
1. 14 hours I'm told. Surely this should be in the manual. It's not just Samsung but Sony Erricson were the same with my last phone.
2. USB cable will be released (UK) at the end of the month/next month which is why there's no mention of it in the manual.
3. Didn't ask about this.
I've just taken delivery of the D500 and have three questions.
1. Initial charge. Should that be 12 hours or have batteries improved of late as all the manual says is it takes 90 minuts to charge.
2. USB. No mention in the manual (although it does on the out sleeve around the box) or on sites as to how to connect via USB (I presume it's the same socket as the headset/speaker). It would be seriously helpful also to obtain a cable from somewhere.
3. The manual mentions a 'travel adapter'. Presumably this is a fancy way of telling me I've got a box standard charger.
Cheers for any help.
