D500 has recently been added to the list of Mobiledit supported devices, a very useful tool to manage phone content and get new features, that makes it a cool accessory for many phones.

Another note about the D-500:
I’m not sure why people in the US are buying foreign versions. There is a US version that comes equipped with the charger that has the 110 volt plug and an American English manual. This is what I have--and it works great.
About the slide: There are no actual switches. It is activated by an internal magnet. So, it’s impossible to break the connection. Try this simple experiment. Hold your D-500 near a magnet and watch it activate--as if the slide just opened.
With regards to the screen. It can be read outside in direct sunlight. Also, many people--like myself--who need reading glasses will still be able to read the screen.
Ronnie, I'm not sure where you got your info. You appear to be completely misinformed. T-Mobile is 1900 on a single-band phone. If it's a dual phone, it's 1900 and 900. If it's a tri-band, it will be 1900, 900, 1800--respectively.
Cingular has only just introduced the 850 frequency This happened when it acquired other--smaller--rural carries into its family.
I use the D-500 in San Diego with many, many hills and valleys. San Diego is notorious for its difficulty in mobile reception problems. However, my D-500 It works as good as any other GSM phone I've had--Nokia, Sony Ericsson, etc. However, it's functionality and menu system is far superior. (Of course that's my opinion)
O.K., now to dispel the carrier and frequency myth. T-Mobile owns all the Cingular and AT&T towers. If I’m not near a T-Mobile tower, my phone simply roams--without any interruption in service or my awareness--onto the Cingular network. Also, all unlocked phones in the San Diego area--including the D-500 will say “Cingular“--even thought it’s on the T-Mobile network. This is a old programming glitch due to the FCC regulations when the towers and software were initiated.
So, if you are having reception problems, it’s ether you are not near to a tower, you have a defective phone, or you need to switch to T-Mobile.
hellow fellows... after so much time thinking about buying or not this phone,I´ve decided myself..I will.... why it doesn´t have a radio if it has I would already bought this, but I´ll try to make the MP3 player works like one.. in the other hand here in brazil we don´t have good local radio so I´m fine with that.....and I love to wacth video clips and I just can´t wait to buy this phone, I´m just saving money and looking forward to the DAY OF D500...... ATHOUGHT MOST OF YOU TRIED TO SCARE ME ABOUT THE CAMERA,SLIDE,AND SCREEN.........
My friends D500 can have silent as the shutter sound but my phone doesn't have that option. I have gone to "settings" "shutter sound" but it doesn't have the option to choose "none". I bought my phone on ebay from hong kong and was wondering weather different countries had different phones?
Hi All
Please tell mem how i can transfer the MP3 from the Pc to the phone also vedio clip. Thanks
You should have known the U.S. uses 850 band before you bought the phone. That is why your reception sux.
I have had many phones the d500 is clearly the best the design is great and it is easy to use
I just bought the phone for today. Signal is very poor. Only 1 bar never see 2. Everybody know how to upgrade for the signal. God
I am living in the United States. Now i can not return the phone. So dissapointed
I am really dissapointed in this phone. The usabilty is not so good. It lacks some basics like - the short cut to contacts doesn't allow you to add contacts. The camera and video qualiy is not as clear as it should be. There are a whole lot of little usability things that bother me!
Is their any firm ware, or what ever it would take, to get my D500 to receive and transmit on the 850 mhz band that is prevalent throughout the states? Reception is at best weak in some areas without the 850 band.
Actually my phone can not get in to the Internet. I am living in America. Thanks
I have D500 almost for a mth, simply lovez it. Sleek & easy to use.

I got the USB cable and cd from ebay. $6.00 AU
First of all, make sure you have USB cable and have easy studio 2.0 PIM and FILE manager. YOu can download that from the samsung website.
1.First of all, make sure all connected. (Usb/Phone)
2. Open Easy studio 2.0 Pim and file manager. Start/all programs
3. At the top of easy studio, (underneath tool and help), click on file manager.
4. At top left box, click on my phone and then music
5. Search down below for file you want and then click on it.
6. Wait till upload button (Arrow pointing up) is highlighted and then click on it and it will go to
funbox/music on your phone.
If you are still having probs, then check that your port is enabled.
It took me a couple of goes to get it going.
