Re SGH D600 - Great phone. It is nearly perfect except - no 3g ,Edge .
Things to consider before you buy the D600 :
Phone book layout
A message to Samsung- Please fix your phonebook .I cannot understand why you must display both SIM card and phonebook entries at the same time- this means you end up with duplicate entries and an even longer time scrolling for name with the slide shut. Everytime I want to look thorugh my hundreds of numbers I must slide the phone open and scrtoll through the annoying doubled names from the Phone memory and the SIM card.
No postal address field which should be included.
This phone will drive you nuts if you text a lot ,write emails- because T9 is not automatically turned on all the time . Plus the symbols layout is just dreadful - play with the phone at a dealer and try it out- you will see what I mean .Samsung - please do something about it !
Every key of the phone pad and soft keys ,plus D pad, make cheap plasticky sounds when you press them - not smooth at all - again- play with the phone at a shop and you will see hwat I mean . Between the cheap plasticky sounds when writing text and the annoyance of the T9 layout- you will end up feelnig frustrated.
Thank you for your replies.
Let me just say a couple of things more on this dilemma.
Yes, I do know that the final decision will be a personal one... But I always appreciate the input from other users.
I have been using the Siemens S55 (a phone that does not have an integrated camera).
So yes, now that I am switching to the "camera-phones" world I would like to have a good camera.
Both the D600 and the K750 have a 2MPixel camera.
Is the lack of autofocus on the D600 a real problem? Especially when you try to take photos of friends from a close distance? Do they come up blurry and out-of-focus?
Second, I have big fingers (not extremely big, though...). Someone might think, that the Siemens S55's keys are considered quite small...So maybe I should not be worried about the keys of the D600. I am gonna try it out though, for sure, before going for the final sale...
Now in terms of the sliding mechanism...
Someone might expect that Samsung might have learned from any problems on the D500 and hopefully they would make it better and stronger on the D600.
However, being a "heavy user" of my mobile phone, this remains an issue to be worried about.
Someone might say, this will not be a problem until I decide to replace my phone.
Hm... what is the time frame, according to your opinion? 1.5-2 years max? That is, is there a "heavy user" out there who is really satisfied with it for a long time now?
Also, please have in mind that in my country, unfortunately, we do not have big offers/choices that people have i.e. in the UK in terms of getting free or with-minimum-charge phones from the Mobile Telephony Providers when they want to extend their contract or switch to another provider/plan....
I will be waiting from some more posts from other people who would be willing to add their experience on these issues... Especially from "heavy users", in regard to
a) the sliding mechanism,
b) the battery life and maybe
c) the reliability of the keyboard.
Thank you very much.
I appreciate your input.
to javid shikari:
if you wana save your send sms just choose save and send rather than send. you can find that at the otion menu at before sending your sms.
i think the slider of D600 is much better. but if your goin to use it above its limit well it cant hold on any farther. its an electronic device use your common sense.. heheheh theres no such thing in dis world that unbreakable...
well the T9 is superb..
D600 is a superb phone : quality durability and user friendly.. mean for business.
but if your on doubt, dont buy it..
maybe theres a factory problem on your phone.. coz i dont have any problem on my phone.. just ask the customer service of samsung.
I agree with y0u JH no comment.. its better to follow our own oppinion than others opinion. its just like a guidee.
in iddle mode (totaly blank screen) just click the volume pad for 3seconds then you will see the clock and date. if theres a sms received the phone will automaticaly on.
hope your satisfied of what im sharing..
To REDDY: Are you sure the file is 1000KB?
cause i had it too i thought the file was like 500kb but it was more then i thought, ohh let me take a look at it the samsung displays more KB then it actually was..
To CR268: I'm advising to have your own opinion. I love the design from the D600 more then the W800i but on other sides its the same for me. Think by yourself, when i jump of the bridge u do it too? well i think not! so always have your own opinion, don't let other think for you! Because when you buy the phone it's yours. nobody else will care witch one you can buy. so when you buy a phone do some research and always have your own have your opinion ready, well other opinions are good too but always BETTER to have you own one! :)
To watch your video's fullscreen, press 1 it will rotate 180 on full screen and press 1 again it will rotate 180 again and press 1 again he will minimalize it to the normal screen.
i have almost 28000kb free on my handset yet when i try to download a file over 1000 it comes up that the file is to large to download
I am getting a new phone in the next couple of days. I would like to ask your opinion on a couple of things.
First let me tell you that I narrowed down my options to two phones: The Sansung D600 or the Sony Ericsson K750i.
I have read a lot of reviews on both phones.
In terms of design I like the D600 the most.
I am very very worried though about:
1.The sliding mechanism: I have never had a sliding phone before. Has any of you (being a "heavy user") used the phone for a long time now? What is your experience? What happened in the case that you might dropped the phone accidentally? I have heard that the previous model (D500) had some problems with the sliding mechanism. Is this the case with this phone too?
2.The text messaging (using T9): how easy and fast is it? In terms of the keyboard and the size of the keys?
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who could help here.
when the samsung D600 is in idle mode, the screen is completely blank as if switched off? The time cannot be seen neither can any alert icons such as a txt message. Is this right? I previously had the D500 and these things could always be seen on the screen, even in idle mode.
hi. i have this great phone samsung d600 but am facing a problem with my sent messages..when i send an sms its not storedd in the sent items flder please tell me what the problem is or is there ayways to activate it..soonest help will be highly appreciated
this is trully a mavel i can say its a phone among phones or rather a triton among minnows.well about the battery life wat can be done?like i cant barely last a day on using it fully calls, music video camera and all the extras help>cant you reverse the battery sustanability you havin not charged it uniterfered the first time?
Not everyone is experiencing the low battery life.
I for one am experiencing 3-4days of life.
Use your USB to charge it. The wall charger is WAY too overkill for the battery. It will shorten they battery's life.
This truly is one great phone! Now imagine if it had 3G! I love it and would recommend it to anyone!
yes it can read an email with the attchment of excel, word, powerpoint. bec. it has a picsel viewr that can read such documents of microsoft office..
i got the best deal from madrons on the d600 plus a playstation and $200 dollars cash back thats awesome!
does this phone allow for viewing email attachments downloaded with email from pop3 email servers,i.e. excel spreadsheets that are attached to an email?
d600 can support morethan 1000kb of 3gp and mpeg4 file. to download on your phone.. as long as you have a big memmory space in your transflash or microSD.
