John Willis:

You need to download the Samsung PC Studio in order to Synchronise your phone to the pc. Here's where you can download it:

I've just bought a 2g memory card for this phone, but it seems that I can only hold 120 songs on the music player as there are only 4 playlists holding a maximum of 30 songs each! Does anyone know of any way to just enqueue my entire song list so that I can play anything from my memory card in randomm rather than selecting a different 30 songs each time?

Hey Guys & Galz

Hope everyone's Well?
I was wondering if the D840 Silver is any different to this normal D840 other than the colour? It look realy nice therefore i have already ordered it. Does anyone own a silver version and is it any good. I currently have the D600 which ive had for 2years and absolutely love it, no issues at all. Samsung Rules!

Unfortunately, you can't set anything else other than the 10 default tones for message alerts.

Also, the wallpapers are there permanently. I too haven't found a way to delete them and I really don't think there is a way.

--------

As for saving messages in the memory card, I don't really know as I haven't gotten one for my phone yet but I don't think you can as there is no option to save messages in the MC. The only option I see is for you to move it to the phone memory.

I have an E900 and now the D840 which is in Samsung "Ultra editions" and boy i love it much more then my E900. Its basically a E900 in a prettier casing but for some reason it looks a lot cleaer and sharper..maybe coz the screen it bigger but out of the two I rather have a D840...smaller memory but hey its dont matter as it has an optional memory card function and all tht touch sensitive on th E900 will drive you mad if you have big fingers like me! lol Not sayin th E900 is bad..in fact its excellent but get the D840 instead, perferably in chrome ;-)

How can I change the tone when receiving messages? It don't need to be mp3, midi sound is fine. But I want to have my own midi sound, not the 10 default sound. And I have one more problem, I can't delete the wallpapers which are on D840 already, i mean they are already there when I bought the phone. Can anyone help plesase? thank you very much.

John:

I'd say ya, get the phone.

If you previously owned a Nokia phone then decide to get this, at first you'll see that this phone doesn't offer that much. Many features that Nokia phones have are not in this one.

However, after some time, you'll get used to it and see that the phone is actually very useful. 2 weeks into owning a D840, I really wanted to switch back to my Nokia one but now, I really love this phone! I realized that I didn't need the other features such as Profiles in Nokia phones.

It has good sound and picture quality! The 2.0 MP camera is not so bad unless of course you compare it to the 3.0 MP camera of the D900. And what I really loved the most about this phone is its size! It's very slim and I barely feel it in my pockets! I like that! I don't like phones that are heavy and I feel are bulging out of my pocket.

But just like all phones, there are still downsides. One is its battery life and its inability to assign MP3 to message alerts. Things that I've come to accept and adjust to and I'm sure you will...

Johnson:

I got the D840 since it's slimmer. The other features don't differ from each other too much anyway...

Lucie:

As for the color orange, yup, there is no way to change/remove it. Sorry for the confusion.

When downloading songs, you can have someone send you songs through bluetooth or simply download the Samsung PC Studio so that you can transfer songs from your pc to the phone using a cable. If your phone didn't include a data cable when you bought it, then you can just get one I guess in any phone shop. The program is actually easy to use.

Anyway, here's the site where you can download the Samsung PC Studio:

you can change the skin. Either black or white.. Go to Display Settings then Skin...
--------------
thanks for that but is there anyway to change the orange colour? doesnt seem to be .also the message alert doesnt have virbration and tone at the same time. seems to be a very basic thing that isnt available. if im out and its busy u have to switch it to vibrate only and when u are in the house you have to switch it to a tone unless u carry it around with you.. Also is it possible to download songs onto your phone if you arent on broadband. i see you can download something on the samsung site that helps you to put files onto your phone but as im a useless with phones it seems all pretty complicated

the phone is very nice to look at and it was free as part of an upgrade but tbh its very poor interms of hardly any ringtones (14!!) and wallpapers. my old samsung X640 had more features and xtras.samsungs are nice to look at but maybe i might be better going back to nokia next time

I got the samsung d840 a few days ago after upgrading from a samsung d600..I am soooo disappointed. The handset itself looks great but everything else that could go wrong with it has!
Firstly it chooses when to make a sound when it rings. Sometimes you hear it sometimes the screen just lights up! this is nothing to with the settings as ive checked and checked again. I initially charged the phone for 24 hours but after I had made a 20 minute call the battery dropped to one bar!! The battery is terrible and does not give you any warning that it is going to switch off!! The charging point on the phone is fiddly and not very well designed. Also the sound through the phone when on a call is tinny and echoing!! Maybe i got a dodgey handset i dont know. Fortunately all these things happened within my 14 day exchange so im going to exchange it but I think its put me off samsung for now! Nevermind..
