all three started great at first but got worse by day...you could physically see the slide rock whilst texting - made me feel like i was handling an egg instead of a phone - scared of breaking it....not a solid phone but great to look at - if you didn't wat to use it !!??
How is the phonebook in this phone. Does it allow you to have different numbers, address, email etc. etc. per contact?
Anybody know what battery model is used in the D900, Trying to buy one but can't really get the model number.
Cat you mentioned you can't get the keypad tones off wihtout turning it off silent, you need to go to 'dialling display' in settings and take it off theme then it allows you to take off keypad tones.
There are things which annoy me about the phone, in the text input new sentences don't default to start with a capital letter. The camera button i keep accidently pressing whilst txting, you can't have the themed number input wihtout the ridiculous keypad tones. When you put a new word in the dictionary when texting it doesn't automatically replace the word you were trying to spell and you have to go back and delete both words. The flash on the camera is appaling especially as the ericssons have such good flashes.
I also have an E900 and the D900 has about a days more battery life in it. The d900's slide also seems less 'wobbly' but that may just be mine. The E900 is better looking and doesn't have the annoying block bit at the bottom, makes the slide easier and the e9-- is generally more comfy in your hand as its not so wide. Generally very similar phones. D900 has less inbuilt memory.
Could have gone for k800 which is really a better phone, but the d900 is just so nice looking, so slimand so much more practical with the slide and slimness that there isn't enough in it to go for the k800 over hte d900 only go for the k800 if u really want the camera.
I mean the d900 has a background where the sky does darker as night comes, what more could you want! When you've seen hundreds of phones, an mp3 players an mp3 player but a changing background with the time is pretty cool. Missing the heat sensitive buttons on the e900 tho
I've discovered a better way to get the phone to recognise the 1GB Kingston SD Card. Here's a step-by-step guide:
*Warning: 1) The resets will erase your photos and settings, so do back them up first in a PC. 2) The following methods worked for me, though I must add you're trying the codes at your own risk ;) FYI, I'm using the D900DXFG5 version*
1) Do a custom reset by pressing *2767*2878#
2) You will see a white screen with the message 'E2P custom reset'.
3) The phone then restarts. You should be able to access your card now.
4) By doing the custom reset though, the GPRS function (denotated by a blue 'G' icon)is also activated. To deactivate it, press #*7288#
5) You will see a white screen with the message 'GPRS detached'. After a while, the annoying blue GPRS icon will disappear. Press the red 'end call' button to get back to your original screen.
That's about it! Prior to trying this, I did a full reset with *2767*3855# followed by #*7288# to deactivate the GPRS. After the two steps, the phone failed to recognise the card. However, I tried the custom reset followed by the GPRS deactivation, and the phone now reads the card like a charm.
so does the phone read the 1gb microsd after you reset the phone???
To the one who enquired on how to do a hard reset:
*Warning: You will lose all your photos and settings by doing the reset, so do save them into your computer first*
I did a full phone reset by entering the code *2767*3855#
I got this phone sent out to me a few days ago and my initial imoression was very good. The screen is crystal clear, it's very sleek and well built. However after using it for a few days I love and hate the damn thing at the same time and I'm contemplating sending it back!
The screen and the whole phone get covered in fingerprints very easily, and because the matt effect of the phone, it looks like it is covered in grease.
It only comes with one theme, which is ok but as far a as i can see you can't change it.
The menu is either black and orange or white and orange, that's your choices.
The scroll button to go through the menus makes this very annoying sound. The only way to stop it is to put your phone on silent!
Generally you cant customise it that much, and as ,much as I love the camera and the look of it after a sony ericsson it's not lived up to my expectations. I thought I wanted a top of the range handset but this isn't it. Samsung, stop the stupid menu beeps and let me customise it. So, I'll probably get somethin I know and trust. Want a N73 but its too dear on my student budget, probably get a K610i or W810i even though they don't have shutters on them.
I'll be disappointed to send this back, but I thin 12 months of beeping and all the things that bug me about it will drive me to insanity.
Overall- OK if you're a big fan of Samsung.
with ref to slide - i have sent back 3 with slides getting loose - excuse was bad batch from Samsung - have since gone back to the SE K800I
I know how you feeling like about the sliding thing..that how I felt like when i had the 1st samsung slider and i noticed that my D720 wobble on the bottom part after few days of use..but relax..thats it..it will be like that always..it wont get worse..and now i know why they say Samsung is best in slidering mechanism.
Just got this phone 2 days ago, amazing, I was a little sketchy about samsung, because I am used to the Sony Ericsson interface and quality. But this samsung did not disapointed me at all. Awesome screen, loud speakers, trust me, the speakers are loud enough and I don't know why people are complaining about that.
Only question I have is that, I am a little worry about the sliding part, will the sliding mechanism break or become more "loose" through time? Because I've notice a little "wobble" on my top part when it's slide out, atleast a little more loose compare to my friend's D900.
Other than that, 100%+ for this phone, samsung surprised me with this small little thing. They improved on a lot of software problems which was on the previous models (ie. vibrate and ring at the same time, mp3 can be play while doing other applications) Excellent!
hey guys~ i just bought d900 for 198 bucks with 1 yr contract with t-mobile. i was wondering what kind of sound ringtone can i download on this phone.??? what type??? i had d500 before and it took .MMF files . but i try on this d900 but it's not working. i tryed .MMF and .MA2 and .SMAF. ...what else??? i know mp3 is working.. ...and also ...what's the maximum amount of memory card that i can buy??? 1GB "?? or 2gb??? i love this phone cuz it's got a2dp feature on this. which is stereo headphone feature. I love it. yuh know what A2DP means right???
can you tell me how to reset the phone so that i can use the 1gb microsd..pls
I've been using this phone for a week, and it's absolutely a gem. A couple of questions though:
1) It was unable to detect my 1GB Kingston MicroSD card, but I managed to resolve the problem by doing a hard reset. Question is, I now have the blue GPRS icon on my screen. Any idea how it can be turned off?
2) With regards to taking pictures: I've turned off all shutter and flash sounds, but the phone still emits a 'beep' during picture taking. I suspect this sound is from the auto-focus. Anyone had any idea how to turn it off? Thanks!
Had problems with the sound, not as loud as the X830, a previous posting recommends taking the plastic cover off, seems to have done the trick for me, so i ve cut the top few mm below the speaker off the screen protector, makes quite a big difference !!
Reception depends on many factors. You didnt mention your friend had a tribad D600E or quadband D600.which service provider, which area he/she lives in bla bla bla...D900 is quadband and haven't heard so many complans about poor reception yet.
About battery, yes Samsung has a bad record of poor battery life. D600 uses 950mAh battery..this D900 has 800mAh..so its poorer than D600. At the same time you need to notice that this is only 12.9mm..much thinner than D600.Im not sure but there has to be some technical issues to make thin 1000mah-1500mAh batteries, otherwise they could have done it..or may be they could have used an integrated battery like they use in mp3 players.
Before you loose your trust on Samsung I would suggest you to have look at your expectations. A new model doest necessarily mean that it will have everthing improved. Good luck.
Hi, I have a quick question. I own the D900, and when i play games, it will only let me press one button and wont register the second button if i press it at the same time, does anyone know how to resolve this? Also it wont let me put pictures on my phone from my computer, but it works fine vice versa, does anyone know how to resolve this?
samsung d600 is a good phone but its had some problem in reception and battery that dont last. the big question is how come they make d900 it supose to be better at least with this two problems and heard from friends that is worst. i definetly loose my trust with samsung because technology is for better not for worst...
