Does D900 has the same issue as previous models for which vibrate + ringing is not possible?
You can play with the system settings to raise the earpiece volume (amongst other things).
type *#8999*8378# and you will get into the system software settings. Go to H/w and Normal, then change the rx settings to 250, and the rx level (lower down) to 150 on level 5. That should make the earpiece plenty loud! Did for me....
Check out Howardforums for a more detailed explanation.
Well just got my D900. Looks and works great. The only thing I don't like is the volume of the speaker I was expecting a little more. But over all for the 3 hours I have used it before the battery died it's a nice looking phone.
Bought one today, but my problem is that none of the ringtones are loud enough. They are the quietest I've ever heard. You've no chance of hearing it ring in, say a car.
I called Samsung, they agree and suggest I try downloading some others rather than use the default tones.
I'm pissed off because I love it otherwise. I've a feeling I'll end up taking it back and go for yet another Nokia.
I can't believe no one else has noticed this.
The D900 is available at the carphone warehouse sim free for £350. Its a great phone! I've had mine a couple of days now and would strongly reccomend it. If anyone has any questions i'll gladly answer.
You dont understand my question dear!!!
I would like to know the position of the phone! In SE K800i it works like a digicam in landscape position but u can chang it to work in portrait position!!
Does D900 slider open and close like D500 or D600 -- semi-automatically? Thank you
Quick question Im sure most of you would like to know also.
Does this phone have the same ringing issue as the E900 where the volume/ringtone gradually increases instead of going at a constant volume when someone calls?
Ramzez - this is why you should get a phone with an operating system!
Far less software problems..
D900 is still a v good phone tho!
Is there a way of putting a java running game/app into background? when i press C or End, it always asks if i want to exit.
1) you probably can, or should i say will, be able to. The phone has just come out so give it a month or so and there will probably be new and free themes downloadable from the net.
2) Not sure. I know you can change it to a list format, but i should imagine you will need a new 'theme' to actually change the icons. See above for they will probably be findable..
And No TV out cable was supplied because it means you sh*t out more money to Samsung.
A couple of questions
1) Where can i get more themes from as the big ben one is a bit tediuos
2) Can you change the menu display like you could on the D600? I don't think you can but the menu is pretty dull.
One more thing... why the hell was there no TV output lead with the phone!!
Porky, you've made a good decision!
Tis an excellent phone, absolutely no regrets in getting mine. And this is coming from someone who has been using geeky Nokias for the past 5 years. My last phone was the 6680 (Symbian), so the D900 should be a step down in terms of versatility and ease of use (i.e. calling/texting/SOFTWARE), but im actually beginning to prefer it!
You might wanna check out the N73 just in case (something i never did). - May as well keep your options open, but i have an incling you'll be wanting to keep your street cred intact by going for the Samsung...
Agree with Dr - It is a very nice phone, with excellent features, should they bother you. Tbh i only want a phone to call/text, but the added features are always nice.
And yes the pencil that writes the numbers is nice, but i found it a bit sluggish and so switched to a very nice 1D method, where the numbers appear in big, bold lettering that is rainbow coloured.
The phone EVEN has animated backgrounds that work in REAL time! My phone has a House of Commons/Big Ben background, and when you slide the phone up, if its between the hours (in real life) of 6am to 7:59 pm, the background is daytime with crows flying around and if its 8pm to 5:59 am, then its night time, with lights lighting up Parliament and shooting stars flying around, very nice!
If i had the chocie, i definately WOULD go for the D900. I could have got the E900 a month or so ago, but i found there was serious problems with the touch screen being TOO sensitive and making txting/calling a pain in the balls. But, more importantly, im a bloke, and its probably the most girly, feminine chunk of black plastic i have ever seen.
So to sum up MR Porky, the E900 is a b*tch phone, the D900 is better and is all manly. Like Yorkie.
The Samsung D900 HAS Autofocus, and the lovely thing about it is, u press the button once all way,it auotofocuses byitself and then takes the picture, so no need for half a press, autofocus and then full press of button as in the Sony Ericsson K800i, and YES the autofocus does work!
Photo quality is very good.
The video: excellent quality and does record in 352x288 i tried it myself.
The phone is very slim, nice menu like the samsung E900.
Lovely thing about it, is when u dial a number and type in the number, on the screen it shows it as if someone was writing with a pencil stroke, so that is a new nice touch that i have not seen in other phones before.
It is larger than the E900, and you would need cateracts and neurological problems to not realise it IS bigger in your hand, but it is still a slender phone (oh and 4mm SLIMMER than the E900, which DOES make a difference).
Stop being a nerd and getting so anxious about the Samsungs size.
That's only justified if you are thinking of buying a clumsy Nokia...
I've only seen pictures I haven't held it yet can anyone confirm if it feels a lot larger then the E900 in your hands.
Dotn find the phone tall or wide. But then my last phone was a clumsy, bulky 6680.
THe D900 is very slender and will easily fit into most shirt/trouser pockets, even if they arent very deep..
Not sure yet about the headphones/bat life, i'll eventually get back to you about it assuming i have the time..
I really DONT have the time to post pics/vids from the phone, but i can assure you they ARE of a good quality.
Not sure about the msg tones. Looks like you can only have the preset, but then i havent played around with the Samsung PC software yet, so you might be able to. But not sure so for the record, lets just say "no" for the time being.
To Andy Burgin
You most certainly CAN view images in FULL screen on the D900. Viewed in QVGA, they look particularly sexy!!
Re: your ridiculous find on mforum.ru - please see my last post and also know that that website was WRONG!
RE: Landscape/portrait. PLEASE! Use your brain. If you want portrait, keep the phone VERTICAL and take a picture. If you want landscape, turn the phone HORIZONTAL and take a picture. Problem solved, jesus christ... Its like asking for a solar powered torch..
Who cares which is better. If it can call people and text, and do them well, its a good phone. Get a girlfriend, then things like this wont bother you so much..
Hope this helps. Had the phone a day now and liking it more and more. Went from a symbian, UGLY nokia to this thing and im already liking it better. Very well designed, the software might not be Symbian, but Samsung have designed it very, very well and not missed out hardly a thing..
