Samsung Android

Samsung Display showcased its new prototype display and hinge that folds both inwards and outwards. The “Flex In & Out” concept allows the hinge to fold the device in 360 degrees while creating a significantly less visible crease.

The prototype was demoed to The Verge, which did not provide any info on whether the new panel and hinge will be ready for commercial products anytime soon.

The display comes with a new hinge design that allows the device to fold completely instead of leaving a small waterdrop-shaped hole in the crease. The prototype was pictured next to a Galaxy Z Fold smartphone, revealing it will be as thick as the current foldable. However, we can see some moving mechanisms that allow the panel to bend comfortably without stretching.

Such a design would enable a new class of devices without the need of a cover display. That in turn will make more room for bigger batteries and larger camera sensors without making the phone too thick. Let's just hope we get to see it in a commercialized product soon.

Samsung sells OLED panels. A lot of them. It's their job to create concepts and new product ideas to stir up competitors (that will end up buying panels from Samsung).

Is anything, really? Shouldn't humanity just give up and die? Because we're not necessary, either :D.
