There actually IS a way to "add" a word to your phone's dictionary, although it's not so easy to do.
1. Start typing part of the word you want.
2. Push the "0" button (which changes the word your predictive text is trying to figure out) until you see "Add" on the lower left corner of the screen.
3. Use the select button when you see "add" and then manually enter your word.
I tested it out with a fake (flufie) word I made up, and the next time I tried to type this fake word, the predictive text brought it up.
I'm not having problems using the file manager program. I found the Samsung-made usb cable which came with the cd, but I was scared to use it (bought on Ebay) so I uploaded the programs straight from Samsung's site. Anyone who needs help, just email me...I'm not a big techie, but I can hold my own and figure stuff out...kinda. So far I can upload my pics onto the computer, and I have put around 13 mp3's on my phone from my computer. I had to play around with which port the program was trying to read from, but once I found it, it worked like a charm. PS- I LOVE this phone, even if I'm in America and they aren't supporting extra features for it here!
this is the PERFECT phone!! :D I am so pleased with it.. i've been wishing it for a month and I've been reading your oppinions and u kind of scared me with the sound problem.. But, fortunatelly, there is none :D but now,,, i am a lill' confused.. do i need to install a software for it if a buy a bloothtooth dongle? sorry if it is a silly question, but the technology is too advanced for me :P danke
Just following up to my comments below, one other usuability feature is that the signal strength on the outside is acutally for *any* network. I assume this is so you can make emergency calls if your network has no service. The network indicator inside goes 'grey' rather than colour if your network has no service, and the phone says 'limited service'. You get a variable number of grey bars depending on other network signals in the area. When you close the phone, it says 'limited service' as well, but *again* this goes off after a few seconds. So, if you look at your phone with it closed, you may think you have a signal, when you in fact don't. Only opening the phone, will tell you for sure. Why oh why do they not have a way of leaving the external display on!!!!

Ive installed everything on the cd and when i use the "PIMS and file manager" program i am able to edit my phonebook and that, but i cant work the file manager. When i click on it,nothing happens. Does it record so i can set them as my ringtone? , and how long does it video for please help me getitng one 2moro
i've juz bought this phone today.my 1st phone that i paid it on my own.i've been considering this phone for quite some times n eventually i've made up my mind to buy it.i've seen e730.but somehow i prefer e720.it looks better though it lacks of some functions like loud speaker, infra red, etc.but after all it's fantastic phone.if u wanna buy a good yet afforable phone.u may go for e720..fantastic yet cheap .. great job samsung! :)
If you appear offlmine try changing the com port by going through till it reads.. go to file then setup.. once u do that u will find the program excellent. It lets u put mp3 music file only though... not wav
Had one for a few days now, and certainly a great phone. Don't understand this 'call quality rubbish' comment from a lot of people. its absolutely fine. Things I am a bit unsure about are:-
1. The external display only stays on for a few seconds, which means if you have a missed call, you won't know it. You have to open and close the phone, or hold down one of the volume keys on the outside for a few seonds to get the display on again (for a few seconds), and see you had a missed call.
2. You can only set the ring tone/message tone, etc. to either Vibrate, Vibrate then Ring, or Ring. There is no option for 'Vibrate AND Ring". BIG design flaw in my opinion.
3. You don't get a cable with it, which you will need to buy (or a bluetooth dongle), in order to transfer MP3s, videos etc. Manual very unclear on all of this.
4. The text messaging is very poorly designed. There is no 'add to dictionary' option like Nokia have had for years, and the way you have to search for a number in the address book, means it takes almost 10 keypresses to address a text.
That's it so far. Still very pleased with it, and I just hope I will learn to live with the above flaws.
hey guyz... this is a great site.. and THIS is a great phone.. 1 problem..
It seems that connecting the phone via cable is kind of a problem for me. I got everything installed, driver, program, connected phone yet the computer doesn't find the phone as connected but says offline istead. I got winxp without service pack 2. Some1 please any tips or ideas?
do i need a blue tooth dongle to transfer mp3 onto my phone.? how does it work n wot do i do....pls reply
The samsung e720 is a wicked phone the best i have yet, the features it functions are amazing such as the mp3, 1 megapixel camera, hour of video recording time and also the quality of it too it also has many other cool features but it would to long to go through them all!
Also if anyone needs help getting mp3's onto the phone feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
also if some of you are wondering which is better the e720 or the d500, the awnser in my oppinion is the e720 for its video quality and other features, but the d500 i reckon would be my next choice if the e720 wasn't made.
after a long thought i came to the decision to get the e720...it is definatley a must and also far better than the d500..they break and are huge. i am soooooo pleased with my buy and to anyone who was like me and cant decide (e720 or D500) go 4 the e720.
i heard the rumors that the calls are crap but everyone who i call say that the quality is crisp clear when i chat. go for it its truely is a sick phone..!!!!!!
I love my phone however i am really confused as how to transfer music from my computer to my phone. I have the blue tooth dongle but no PIN number so cant transfer the music which is annoying. However I love the quality of the photos and videos which i can take.
all samsung mobiles hav a huge memory space..
but this fone shud hav had infrared port..
its sounds really odd - a fone with bluetooth but no infrared port..???
I just received my phone today, it seems pretty good so far but like most im dying to transfer music from my computer, and have no idea how! Its a bit crap they dont provide the necessary tools, however where can these "Bluetooth Dongle" things be bought?! Or is there any other way?...is all very complicated! I think Samsung should provide more support on this, but till then please someone expand on the 'Dongles'!!
