Samsung explains how Galaxy S10's enhancing features work

Samsung Android

“AI” as a buzzword appears everywhere in press materials for modern smartphones, but what does it actually do? Samsung published an explanation of some of the performance and battery-enhancing features of its Galaxy S10 phones.

There are two systems that cooperate to launch apps faster. App pre-loading learns your patterns, e.g. after using the camera, you launch a messaging app. This system starts pre-loading the messaging app as soon as you launch the camera.

The second system, vRamDisk, is what does the actual work – it pulls resources that apps need into RAM. The Galaxy S10 and S10+ have 8GB of RAM as standard, the S10e starts at 6GB, so there’s room to pre-load data. Even the launcher can trigger the pre-load process as it knows where your most-used apps are.

But all those apps shouldn’t be allowed to waste resources. App Leveling keeps an eye on apps you haven’t used in a while and can adjust resource allocations accordingly. The last level is App Disabler, which completely shuts down apps you haven’t touched in 30 days.

Adaptive Power Saving works with Android Pie’s Adaptive Battery feature and can trigger battery saving automatically if it predicts a day of heavy usage based on your routine.

This was Samsung’s goal – to make resource allocation seamless (you don’t have to do anything manually) and to make it noticeable only in its results.

All that battery charge that gets saved up can be shared with other devices that are running low on power with the Qi-compatible Wireless PowerShare. This applies to anything from ear buds to other phones. The Galaxy S10 models support fast wired and wireless charging so you can restore the phone’s battery charge quickly.

on rooted devices with everything stopped? custom rom? Definitely not on stock. Check out Xiaomi Mi 9 for example with 3300mAh battery and compare that to any S10/S10+ reviews...pathetic battery life!
