Samsung Semiconductor held its System LSI Tech Day event in San Jose, California where we got an early glimpse of the upcoming Exynos 2400 flagship mobile chipset. Exynos 2400 will likely arrive on the Galaxy S24 series, serving as a successor to Exynos 2200 with promises of a massive leap in performance.
Samsung claims Exynos 2400 offers a 1.7x increase in CPU performance and a 14.7x boost in AI performance compared to the Exynos 2200. Samsung introduced a new AI tool designed for upcoming smartphones with updated text-to-image AI generation which was demoed on stage.
Exynos 2400 is equipped with an Xclipse 940 GPU based on the AMD RDNA 3 architecture offering mobile ray tracing which brings a more life-like experience in games with improved shadow rendering, reflections and global illumination.
Based on rumors and a recent benchmark leak, Exynos 2400 is fabbed on Samsung's latest 4nm LPP+ process. The chip will likely bring a 10-core CPU using a 1+2+3+4 configuration with all cores based on the ARMv9 architecture. The leak suggests a prime Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.1GHz alongside 2x Cortex-A720 cores ticking at 2.9 GHz. Less demanding tasks will be handled by the 3x Cortex-A720 cores clocked @ 2.6GHz and 4x Cortex-A520 cores @ 1.8 GHz.
Exynos 2400 is expected to support LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It’s also rumored to support up to 320MP camera sensors and 8K video recording at 60fps via its all-new custom ISP. Connectivity will benefit from the new Exynos 5300 modem which will likely be integrated and offer 5G connectivity with Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT), Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) and satellite communication for emergency situations.
This seems promising as they also plan to use the new fowlp technology so i have high hopes for it.
