If it wasn't for a loose screen I would have k... moreYou smart I said that it has to turn on the whole capacitive touchscreen waiting for you to place your finger on the scanner. I know the scanner is optical (basically a fixed focus camera), but it has to keep the touchscreen on, which uses more power over S8 that has to power the minuscule scanner only.
And yes, I am a fan of technology,and I have a wide knowledge in it. I am even studying telecommunication engineering. So I am not a fool ok?

S... moreYea, you are right! Actually sometimes 10 out of 10 times Fingerprint scanner doesn't work.
Just try to call spade a spade. Fingerprint scanner in A50 is garbage and it is beyond any doubt. Full stop. A50 has a very good display, very capable mobile for day to day work, one ui is great, okay camera.
Sound quality through phone's speaker is crap.

Important------After Updating to January update. I have not faced any issue regarding the In-display fingerprint sensor. Although, there is not anything mentioned about the fingerprint sensor in the update but now it has improved and up to the standard now. Where was Samsung before? It is almost a year now and they are giving the update now. I don't know about anything has become wrong after this update because I have not tested anything else.

If it wasn't for a loose screen I would have kept the Note 9. The A50 doesn't have a capacitive fp sensor and the symbol doesn't even show up when I place my finger. Latest patch broke something again. Using the name "Tech fan" and no clue about the basics...
You really seem to not know what being critical means either, and if you can't be critical don't cry when others are. This is the first phone I have received crippling updates with.

If they are really crap samsung wouldn't see a growth in sales this year. Also most people if they found the scanner not working just use face unlock. They don't whine day and night here like you.

A50 uses more power when idle because he has to turn on the whole capacitive touchscreen waiting for you to place your finger on the scanner,likely also the scanner software is preloaded. Thus using more power than the S8 that has to turn on only that small capacitive sensor on his back.

S... moreVisit Samsung Community and see for yourself. The sensor is crap and the same laggy mess in the A51. Mine stops showing the fingerprint icon after a couple of days. Apparently it has system crashes or the sensor doesn't wake up.
And what's with this assumption that it's because of tempered glass? You know that not everyone uses those right? It's a crap product and if you have dry hands it doesn't work, no one wants to lick their fingers to unlock a phone.

Anyway why get A50 when the A51 is there? Get A51 if you can, an upgraded version of A50.

Second, if you have a thick tempered glass on your phone the scanner won't work. Nor if your finger has lots or scratches or scars. Please don't generalise, mine unlocks in less than a second.

I have mine lying around because I want to sell it but it just loses like 5% or more in a day without me touching it. I don't even have wifi on but it's just losing alot of juice...

Trust me A50 doesn't have any kind of fingerprint scanner what so ever!!! 8 out of 10 you have to unlock your phone with pattern or pin... 2 out of 10 fingerprint scanner will work for A50..and days after days it will become worse.

Anonymous, 18 Jan 2020How is the camera in low light areas?This model does not have dedicated night mode out of the box, but if you update it with latest firmware then you will get night mode for main camera. This night mode along with a steady hand can produce good quality image for social media. But for printing it may not that good.
