But yes, I can capture stars clearly with the suggested settings. The moon phase can also affect exposure, not just light pollution from big cities. With bigger moonphases (gibbous) to full moon visible in the sky, overexposure with high ISO settings and long shutter speeds is likely. With a small crescent moon in the sky, not as much. You normally want a moonless sky (new moon) with fine weather (zero clouds) and away from big cities (source of light pollution) to capture the best photos. I only have washed out photos with light pollution haze in my area but yes, it's enough to prove you can capture the beautiful night sky with stars using the A52 5G with the correct ISO and shutter speed combination (ideally using a tripod, on a clear moonless night, away from sources of artificial light/light pollution from the city).

So for this phone I could start from 400 and try with the exposure as you have said in the posts before

Do you have any sample of astrophotography done with Samsung A52 5G in Pro mode?

Do you have any Gcam installed that works in A52 5G?

I have read the article and now I have a more clear idea how it works the ISO and shutter speed. There are also interesting articles for begginers that I have to read

Many thanks!!

I can only speak for the phone I own, A52 5G. Software and hardware can vary between phones and some mobile phones actually allow for 30 second exposures, in which case, you can certainly use ISO 100 and a tripod for as long as the phone's aperture is f/1.8. Smaller apertures, f/3.0 like those fitted in secondary periscope telephoto cameras in most flagship mobile phones will need more than one minute to expose properly at ISO 100. If you want to learn more about photography - how aperture, ISO and shutter speed affect exposure, you may read this: https://photographylife.com/iso-shutter-speed-and-aperture-for-beginners

Also I see in the photo info very low ISO and it supposes that the shutter speed is 16s. But I don't understand why Google Astrophotography then requests you to keep the phone in a tripod for 4minutes

Thanks!!

The usual technique in astrophotography is to overexpose a bit then darken the scene in post processing for less noise and more captured detail than what human eyes can normally see. Try it using Pro Mode, starting at ISO 1600. Adjust the shutter speed correspondingly (longer for brighter exposure and shorter for darker exposure). See which exposure you prefer.

Then with these settings in the Pro mode, could I took a astrophotograhy of the the Milky Way in completely darkness? That's what you mean with over exposes? And there is no risk of noise in the photo?

Many thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous, 03 Oct 2021Wow thank you so much for your so well and detailed explanation. I have read in some place ... more"I have read in some place about to take photo of stars and Milky Way, it said that to achive the good results in a mobile with the pro mode you have to set white balance low value to 3000, infinity focus, ISO between 1600 - 3200, and shutter speed (exposure) between 20 and 30 seconds."

This advice doesn't apply to most mobile phones nowadays with fixed wide apertures like the A52 5G with fixed F/1.8 aperture. Using ISO 1600 or ISO 3200 for 10 seconds already over exposes the sky it won't look like the photo was taken at night.

Most astrophotography guides you read actually refer to dSLRs using F/4.0 or smaller apertures (for better sharpness across the entire frame) and using 20-30sec exposures at ISO 100 (for the least noise). The white balance actually depends on your tastes. You can have it at auto or set it to a specific Kelvin temperature if you want a warmer or cooler result. You can also just adjust the color temperature later in post processing so the setting really doesn't matter much unless you don't do any postprocessing.

I have read in some place about to take photo of stars and Milky Way, it said that to achive the good results in a mobile with the pro mode you have to set white balance low value to 3000, infinity focus, ISO between 1600 - 3200, and shutter speed (exposure) between 20 and 30 seconds.

With high values of ISO will it make the photo with noise? Is it better to set it as lower as possible? And white balance is ok to set it at 3000?

I didn't expect that Samsung A52 models withe the limitation of shutter speed could take photos of the Milky Way and the stars in the sky

Probably the easiest way would be installing the Gcam, but I'm not an expert in apps and I have read that you have to try several apps of Gcam until you find someone that works with your model, and you have to instal some kind of extra stuff in order to work properly the Gcam, like libraries or something like that.

I have to change the mobile, and this samsung or the A52s seems good choice. But I need that the photo works well with astrophotography in pro mode or at least very easy to install Gcam because I'm not an expert

Many thanks!!

Kraken , 24 Sep 2021Samsung has killed their own phone by releasing A52s 5g for just $2.67 more than the A52 5g.Because they phased out the regular A52 or at least from where I am from.

Anonymous, 19 Sep 2021GSMArena team should fix the FM Radio availability. There is one and I have tried it.Yes, the A52 5G has FM radio so Gsmarena is mistaken in the specifications page by saying it doesn't have FM radio. Gsmarena'a webmasters are probably too tired to correct for errors given there's lots of phones in the website.

Anonymous, 27 Sep 2021is is it a good value for money device? What is its performance comparing with a71 with sd 730The A52 5G ia so much better than the A71 in everything especially touch responsiveness, fluidity and processor power, as well as much better in photography and videography. The downside is tge A52 5G has a hybrid SIM card slot and a slightly smaller screen size. But in exchange, it's got a 256GB internal storage option (if you're a dedicated dual SIM user and still want big storage) and it also has a better 120Hz screen display, though slightly smaller. This is coming from an owner of both phones (A71 and A52 5G) and who still has and still is using both phones (with the A71 as back up phone and A52 5G, the main phone).

Anonymous, 18 Sep 2021Is it just only download, install and go? I have read about to take photo of stars and the... moreNo. You don't strictly need 20sec or 30sec. If you are using the A52 5G's main camera which has a wide aperture of f/1.8, you are only going to need 1/2 second exposure at ISO 3200 to capture stars at night or the Milky Way galaxy.

You can achieve the same or equivalent exposure at ISO 1600 for 1 sec, ISO 800 for 2 sec, ISO 400 for 4 sec, ISO 200 for 8 sec and ISO 100 for 16 sec. Now the default Samsung camera app maxes out at 10 seconds so it means the A52 5G is more than capable of capturing stars at night. You can even turn night into day if you use ISO 3200 and set longer exposure times.

Third party camera apps like Open camera maxes out a 1/2 sec shutter speed so you're going to need to set the ISO at ISO 3200. Higher ISO's enable faster shutter speeds but image noise increases the higher the ISO. You will have to learn to use manual mode and a tripod for most camera apps if you'll be doing astrophotography at ISO 1600 or lower.

If all of the above sounds confusing or you'd rather not learn to use manual mode, just install and use GCam in Night Sight mode. It's pretty straightforward. Point to the stars, wait to focus and shoot, keeping your hands as steady as possible. You'll be surprised you can actually do astrophotography HANDHELD with GCam in NightSight. For better quality, enable Astrophotography mode and put the A52 5G in a tripod while using NightSight mode in GCam. No ISO or shutter speed settings to set. So yes, the A52 5G is more than capable for astrophotography.
