I agree that 2015 A-series was a waste of money but 2016 A-series are awesome/good.
I'm using Galaxy A5 2016 (A510FD) and I'm loving it.
It's as good as Galaxy S6. (I have used all three smartphones mentioned above)

Both are awesome smartphones.
Don't judge or write bad comments without using that phone. Use it and I'm sure you will love it.
And you should known that in 2016 it's the second best smartphone series.

Nika, 28 Dec 2016Thanksss. I feel like i will betray BB if i go with another phone ) It is so native. Your wellcome. I don't think you will betray anyone. It is your money and you can choice the best option which works best for you. No one can force you to go for something you do not like to use. I was typically a "Nokia" user from 2004 (first phone 3315) to 2012 (last phone 7610). At that time they are the best and I use them. But from 2012 I changed to Samsung Galaxy series and today in my home 4 galaxy devices are running. There is news that Nokia will be back in 2017 with 5 models. But I am not going to use them again. Happy with Samsung as a brand and I will use for next decades unless there is massive changes in technology.
AnonD-625678, 29 Dec 2016It still retails for INR21k+ in India. Do you think it's worth it, or are there some competit... moreIt depends on you choice. Currently there is no best or least device. Every device has its' own pros and cons. A5 is good a better choice in this price 21K. If you are a traditional Samsung user than it is a best option to upgrade. But if you are migrating from other brands and do not mind about Samsung apps, than you can opt for some other devices like Moto M, Leco or Mi. As you have said you are using a Mi device than I think you should go for new Mi devices like Mi 5 which has more powerful specs at 23K. at 2K difference you will gain more.
My biggest disappointment from this phone is a lack of gyroscope sensors. When I was not able to use SkyMap application. How it is possible that this middle class phone does not have the feature available even in cheap phones?
It still retails for INR21k+ in India.
Do you think it's worth it, or are there some competitors in this mid-range category worth considering?
Info - I am upgrading from Xiaomi 4i.
my a5 2016 battery has puffed up, i can see the tempered glass on the back does not lay flat anymore. this morning my phone just froze. has anyone ever experienced this?

It is so native.
This phone has been designed beautifully. I love the gold version. It feels so comfortable in the hand, although it can be slippy without a cover. It is a phone for people who care about what their phone looks like more than the performance. The one thing I wished this phone had is a LED indicator, but it makes up for it with its amazing screen and fingerprint sensor.
Nika, 27 Dec 2016Hallo. I am a traditional Blackberry user) Now i want to swich to Samsung. But still confuse... moreAs you are a BB user than I will recommended you to go for Dtek 50. Because of the Superior BB apps like BB launcher, Hub, BB Contact, BB Note etc. I have used them in my ON 7 Pro and A 5. And I found them very productive and useful. I am using Android apps for last 4 years and from my experience these apps are the best for any professional. Unfortunately they are not free. Free for first 1 month and than you have to pay 1$ for every month. At that price it sounds very reasonable, but not if you have a international debit or credit card which works with Google pay. So, I will advice you to go for the BB Dtek if you want to use these superb BB apps. Otherwise go for A5 if you want a new experience with android.
AnonD-625678, 28 Dec 2016Any idea on the release date of the new 2017 version? It is still not released here in India. But I think till the Summer or April it will be available. As April is festive season for the majority of Indian people Samsung must focus it. Anyway if you can wait than you will get a good deal. Otherwise A5 (2016) is a decent device for a normal user. It has good look, superb display, medium spec and most importantly it does not heat up like some other device.
Sreedivya, 26 Dec 2016In a5 , lollipop version or marshmallow version is good!?? Any issues after marshmallow update??I suggest you to update it into marshmello, i've updated it and it improve the performance.. reduce lag, working smoother and faster :)
