For those who have this phone, what's is the size of internal partition at the first boot, and can you remove bloatware easily especially the microsoft suite ?
Also, can you format the Micro SD card to function as a second partition as seen in many phones running on Marshmallow (like Lenovo P2).

About the speaker, I'm still on default ringtones and alert tones, (have not had time to change them), the default faint sms alert tone was actually pretty loud, and I could hear the 2-3 second tone in a packed restaurant through my trouser pocket. So loud enough. The sound output through the headphones (I use Skullcandy Smokin Buds 2 at home and Sennheiser CX180 while travelling), is less than satisfactory if you are into loud music and heavy bass. Typical Samsungs. I liked Sony far better in this department.
But the speakers are loud, and the positioning makes it worth it (that place is never covered with the hand). I have not installed any music app till now, so headphone sounds may improve if I download stuff.
Samsung is Samsung , There is no
alternative , Samsung smartphones are the best ever

Things I take in to consideration if I'm buying a new phone. #1 Can I replace the battery. #2 Does it take SD expansion cards that I can write to with 3rd party apps. #3 Will I need to buy a bunch of new cables and cords #4 it wont blow up. Things IDGAF about. HD screen on a 7' display. How many MP my camera has.
Sp, 19 Mar 2017I wonder why people r buying this phone for around 30000 INR? POOR low light camera is the mai... moreMaybe you would think that way. Galaxy A5 2017 is a bit expensive than other smartphone with same specs is cuz of its water and dust resistant features. No wonder it would be more expensive compared to other that is NOT water resistant. You should also think it that way are'nt you? It is worth for this features but we just don't like much about its front camera, very poor and weak!
Anonymous, 19 Mar 2017multitouch of this A5 2017 is only 5 points... well dont think people will using more than tha... moreBecause 10 point touch is a completely unnecessary feature. It's not cheap parts, it's a higher level of thinking, that people need to look away from paper specs and look at the actual product.
Same reason why Apple chose to ditch the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the I-Phone 7. You can keep the converter attached to the headphone, and use the same port for everything. They are ditching unnecessary options and features that make your and my life simpler.
Anonymous, 19 Mar 2017design is nice but no LED indicator, when using headset wont display headset is connected...Why do u need LED indicator when u already have separate notifications showing up on the always on display. LED will glow for everything and u won't know what's it for. You can assign colours on the LED, but you have to remember which colour you had set up for which app. Far easier to just have it shown on display. Plus LED consumes more battery.
Also why do you need headphone indication on screen when you have already inserted headphones and you know it. That is wasted information and screen space.
I like how Samsung has put thoughts and extensive research on every little thing with the A5.
multitouch of this A5 2017 is only 5 points... well dont think people will using more than that indeed, but A5 2016 if i dont wrong is 10points... not sure why samsung reduce it, cheaper parts maybe?
Anonymous, 19 Mar 2017Is this truly water proof?samsung brand not use water or dust proof, that is water resistant..
design is nice but no LED indicator, when using headset wont display headset is connected...
I wonder why people r buying this phone for around 30000 INR? POOR low light camera is the main
disappointment. Next is chips etc and ram. At this price people can get snapdragon 821 with 6gb ram and excellent camera at one plus 3T. At 30000 you can get 2 moto g5 plus, whose camera is at par with A5 2017, except front cam. Back cam of moto g5 plus is 12mp but pic quality is great. So pls people don't buy samsung. Force them to reconsider their pricing policy. Last but not least u can get 2 and 1/2 redmi note 4 at this price with better ui but camera is not at par. And gorrila glass is not there in note 4.

Hello, I bought the A5 2017 (black) on 17th from Reliance Digital in Pune, and here is my review, (I did not find any detailed user reviews so far, so hoping this would help a few):
1. The feel of the phone is awesome, its fully metal, on the sides as well. Seems Samsung has copied the Iphone 7's design, and made it more classy and premium. Won't understand till you hold it in your hands. And its heavy, does not have any plasticky feeling to it.
2.I have replicated all softwares and stuff (Ola, Uber, Foodpanda, Faasos, several VR apps etc.) from my previous Note 3 and everything works fine.
3.The display is gorgeous (and you need to change the default wallpaper to something more vibtrant to get a feel of that). The "adaptive display" mode is awesome, and unlike the previous amoled Samsungs I have used, the colors don't look oversaturated, and is pretty cool to look at without hurting your eyes at full brightness.
4.Like I said, seems Samsung has copied Iphone 7 to its nitty grtty features, I found the "blue light filter" toggle, "flashlight" toggle on the menu bar itself, there is system-wide parallax effect, and the menu screen background is a faded out version of the wallpaper.
5.The range of the brightness bar is worth a mention. The lowest setting is pretty low, and served good at nighttime. I was previously using a night mode app to reduce brigtness lower than the lowest setting.
6.The always-on-display is the 2nd coolest feature. I set times so it is active only during my office time, and then turns off. And you can change the font style and font color too. Also it is not static, but moves around the screen like a screensaver. The position change takes place every 5 minutes I think.
7.The in-built Samsung theme app is the single greatest feature, that automatically kicked out other phones I had on my list. I always loved the black background on my Note 3, and will not compromise this for anything, the white color irritates me. I have used the theme feature, and the backgrounds are awesome. This is system-wide and will change styles on menu bar, keyboard, calendar, calculator, dialer, oh my god its awesome, and was the single greatest deal-breaker for me.
There is a "but" to this, though. Most of these themes and wallpapers are paid ones, like INR 80-120 max per item. And there there are some free stuff too.
8.Coming from the Note 3, I agree with others' comments that the camera is not great, and most certainly not 16MP. It's good, and does my job fine, but not something I would brag about.
9.Yes it is IP68, I dipped it in water while having the old sitcom "Friends" videos playing on it. The sound coming out of the speaker under the water is as funny as the series. No harm done.
10.The sound output through the speakers and headphones is good, but again not that great to have me brag.
11.The fingerprint sensor works as expected, but then I like the lockscreen and the pattern-lock thing better, so I don't use the fingerprint lock much.
12.Battery life. I opened the box to 80% charge at noon on the 17th. Today's the 19th, noon, and it shows 48% charge still. I don't play games, or have the wifi/internet on for 24 hours, though. Just the usual apps, themes, calls, whatsapp, facebook etc.
This is not surprising to me as my previous Note 3 also had a monster battery, and that is also something I would not compromise on.
13.The other phone I was considering was the G4, but LG sends all ita phones on a boot-loop suicide mission after a year (look at the comments on G3, G4, G5), and then you are stuck.
A friend bought a One Plus 3, it bricked duting an OTA update, and could not get any service, the phone sits in my drawer. I don't want such experiences with my stuff, so never looked at Xiaomi, One plus, Moto, Vivo, Oppo etc.
Once had a Sony, and the cost claimed to replace the camera module on it was a little less than the overall cost of the phone (Xperia C5 Ultra). I thought they were joking.
Anyways, hope this helped...
