Samsung Android Announcement

Today Samsung has decided to unveil the Galaxy A6 and A6+. The mid-range duo brings the company's signature bezel-starved Super AMOLED Infinity Display to a whole new price point, along with its 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

The Galaxy A6's display measures 5.6" diagonally, and has 720x1,480 resolution. The phone has a 16 MP f/1.7 rear shooter and a 16 MP f/1.9 selfie snapper with an LED flash of its own. The handset is powered by an octa-core 1.6 GHz CPU, aided by 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage, depending on which exact model you buy. In any case note that the device supports microSD expansion, with cards up to 256GB in size.

The A6 has a 3,000 mAh battery and its dimensions are 149.9 x 70.8 x 7.7 mm. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo, as does the A6+.

The bigger member of the family boasts a 6-inch screen with 1,080x2,220 resolution, and a dual rear camera setup, with one 16 MP f/1.7 sensor and one 5 MP f/1.9 unit. Selfies are taken care of by a 24 MP f/1.9 camera, also with an LED flash. The A6+ gets a slightly beefier 1.8 GHz octa-core processor, and the exact same RAM/storage versions as its smaller sibling.

The battery capacity grows to 3,500 mAh, while the A6+'s dimensions are 160.2 x 75.7 x 7.9 mm. Both phones support LTE Cat.6 with 2CA, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC (though not in all markets), GPS, Glonass, and BeiDou.

The A6 and A6+ will be available in black, gold, blue, and Lavender. The A6+'s dual camera enables bokeh effects before or even after the shot is taken, with unique background blur patterns including a range of shapes such as hearts and stars.

The devices have Dolby Atmos optimized sound (on headphones only), Bixby Vision, Bixby Home, Bixby Reminder, and Samsung Pay support. They will be released in early May in select markets in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. At a later point they will also arrive in South Korea, Africa, and China.
